STEPPING STONE SCHOOL

We create learning environments that fi t your child’s needs.

Learning Unlimited is a full service pri-vate preschool servicing children 6 weeks through 12 years of age. Their unique cur-riculum offers every student regardless of age the opportunity to grow through per-sonal, social and emotional development, communication skills, knowledge and un-derstanding of the world, creative and aes-thetic development, physical and mathemat-ical awareness and development. Through this well balanced program, they are able to educate the “whole child”.

Learning Unlimited was recognized by the Florida Department of Education as a high rating VPK provider and was featured in an article by the Bradenton Herald. Own-er, Jessica LeBoff is extremely proud of her entire staff’s efforts in making this possible. It is through low ratios and degreed teach-ers that children are afforded the opportu-nity to soar to their full potential.

Parents don’t forget those elementary age students! Learning Unlimited runs a com-plete summer school program based on

your individual child’s areas for improve-ment. After lunch the children enjoy dai-ly field trips.

Learning Unlimited is proud to be accred-ited through The National Association for the Education of Young Children -NAEYC, Resource Connection for Kids, and the United States Department of Agriculture. Since Learning Unlimited is contracted with Resource Connection for Kids, all funding is accepted and through the USDA all nu-tritious, well balanced meals are included at no cost to you.

It is Learning Unlimited’s philosophy and mission to provide every child with all of the necessary skills to be successful learners throughout life.

The three-week July Broadway Boot Camp for ages 8 - 17 has been so successful during the past 3 summers that Manatee Players has added a second, Junior Broad-way Boot Camp in June. Broadway Boot Camp Junior will run for 2 weeks, June 14 - 25 and is for aspiring actors aged 6 - 12 years. “This camp is intended to give our younger campers an opportunity to per-form in the leading and featured roles of a musical production,” said Manatee Play-ers’ Managing Artistic Director, Rick Ker-by. The show to be presented is Rugrats, A Live Adventure. The musical spotlights all the characters from the favorite Nick-elodeon cartoon including Angelica, Tom-my, Chuckie, Lil, Phil, Didi, Stu and Grand-pa Lou as they embark upon another great adventure. Tuition for this camp is $400 and is limited to only 40 registrants. Pub-lic performances of Rugrats are scheduled for June 25 at 7:00 pm, June 26 at 2:00 and 7:00 pm and June 27 at 2:00 pm.

In the past, Broadway Boot Camp has pre-sented such popular shows as High School Musical 1, 2 and Grease. This summer will be no different as participants mount a full-scale production of Seussical, The Musical.

Broadway Boot Camp runs from July 12 - 30 and is limited to 60 campers aged 8 - 17. Tuition for this 3-week July camp is $600. First time participants aged 8 - 12 are en-couraged to attend the 2 week Broadway Boot Camp Junior before attending the longer Boot Camp. Those aged 13 and up or any past Boot Camp attendees may en-roll. Performances of Seussical are slated for July 30 at 7:00 pm, July 31 at 2:00 and 7:00 pm and August 1 at 7:00 pm.

Both summer camps run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with a morning and afternoon snack served. Campers bring a brown bag lunch. Each camp will begin with auditions, followed by singing, dance and acting rehearsals. Every camper will receive a role.

Registrations for both camps are being taken at the Manatee Players’ Box Office, 102 Old Main Street, Bradenton (941-748-5875). Questions may be directed to Man-atee Players’ Education Coordinator at 941-748-0111. Tickets for all Boot Camp public performances of Rugrats and Seussical are currently on sale and may also be purchased by phoning the Box Office.

When School is out, learning is in with Sylvan Summer Camps!

Does your child forget most of what they learned in school once summer break ar-rives? Not surprising, for educators are tell-ing us that within 24to 48 hours after learn-ing new concepts, students often begin to forget information unless it is reinforced or applied immediately.

Sylvan Learning, the leading provider of student centered learning, offers a vari-ety of programs and camps to inspire aca-demic discovery. Enhancing your child’s learning during the summer is easy with Sylvan’s Academic Camps as well as our Intensive Summer programs.

Sylvan Camps, led by highly trained and certified educators, are focused on target-ed skill areas like math, reading, writing and study skills. A partial list of camps in-cludes:

• Fraction Action (grades 3-5)• Nourish the Brain

(Reading grades 4-6) • Solve This (problem solving

grade 6-8)• Read On (grades K-1 and grades 2-3)All camps are half days and one to two

weeks in length Intensive Summer intended to help stu-

dents “catch up” during the summer months. The program, filled with fun and motivating activities, is extremely focused on skill im-provement in reading, math, or writing.

Remember, summer is also a great time for high school students to “get ready” for SAT and ACT testing scheduled early in the fall

All of Sylvan summer camps and pro-grams are limited to small groups. Call the Sylvan Learning Centers of Braden-ton: East Bradenton: 941-739-0701 or West Bradenton: 941-795-8590 for more informa-tion and sign up!

Unlike any camp in the area, we are ex-cited to show you our wonderful animal world through demonstrations, games, crafts, and other hands

on activities. The fun lasts from June through July,

with three differently themed zoo camps: 101, 102, and 103. Zoo Camp 101 teaches campers what it takes to be a zookeep-er. In Zoo Camp 102, campers will create their very own passport. They will “travel” to different continents and learn all about the native animals. And, in Zoo Camp 103, campers will learn about different animal careers. At the end of each of the camps every Friday, kids will perform a show for parents and share what they learned dur-ing the week.

There are no pre-requisites for any of the camps. We invite children from kindergar-ten to 6th grade to explore the jungle Mon-day though Friday from 9am-3pm. Each day holds something new for our campers. Therefore, camp weeks cannot be broken down into day visits.

Exploration is split into two different age

groups (5-8 year olds and 9-12 year olds). Whether you have been here before or are taking a look for the first time, Zoo Camp at Sarasota Jungle Gardens will be a mem-orable experience for all!For more information and registration, please call: Sarasota Jungle Gardens at 941-355-1112 ext. 306 or check out www.SarasotaJungleGardens.com

The Manatee County YMCA Summer Day Camp Program incorporates fun into a safe, value-based environment where chil-dren and teens will build relationships and develop new skills. The YMCA offers the Summer Day Camp and CIT Program at all four branches of the Manatee County YMCA. Each branch also offers specialty camps that put the focus on sports, cheer-leading or dance and pre-school and teen camps are offered at select branches.

YMCA Day Camp offers children excit-ing outdoor experiences and allows creative expression through arts & crafts and dra-matic play. Each week is themed and the field trip and activities are planned keep-ing the weekly theme in mind. Other ac-tivities are structured into the curriculum like character & asset development, sci-ence & nature and team building to make a well-rounded day camp experience. In addition, all children enrolled will partic-ipate in swim lessons through the Splash Program, a free introduction to swimming sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Field trips, t-shirt and bag are all included in your reg-istration and weekly fees.

The mission of the YMCA is “To put

Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.” At the YMCA we never turn anyone away due to the inability to pay. We are able to offer an income-based, sliding scale fee for memberships and pro-grams through our Annual Community Scholarship Program.

Stop by your local branch or check out our new website at www.manateeymca.org for registration information or to sign up online!
