CAMPUS CONNECTION SUMMER 2017
GENTLE, GENEROUS, TRUTHFUL, KIND, AND BRAVE Throughout the Lenten season, it is tradiKon at Ascension Episcopal School to offer special $5.00 “Pay to Dress” days to our students. Funds generated benefit the Epiphany School, our sister school in southwestern Uganda, which serves the children of the displaced Batwa Pygmies. For many years now, Ascension has been involved with supporKng the Epiphany School, which was established to help educate the Batwa Pygmy people, an indigenous tribe that has been displaced by their own Ugandan government into the Bwindi rain forest. In 1999, The Church of the Epiphany in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, established a resellement program for the Pygmy people and built the Epiphany School, which accommodates approximately 250 students. This year’s Lenten mission raised over $11,027. Combined with donaKons from the Ascension church community, a grand total of $25,000 was raised…the most we’ve ever achieved through the fundraiser! Father Brandt Montgomery wishes to convey his many, many thanks for the generosity that has been expressed in our school giving. “God will do so much through these funds sent to our brothers and sisters in Uganda. Because of our community’s love for others, involvement, and generosity, the Epiphany School will be able to conFnue their efforts to make a posiFve impact upon the children of southwestern Uganda, while engaging in such efforts to the greater glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” A big thanks to our enKre Ascension community for making this year’s Lenten mission such a huge success. In the words of Father Charles Busingye, Director of the Reaching the Pygmies Ministry, “Thank you for loving us. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for loving us.”
Congratulations & best wishes to recent Blue Gator grads, Harrison John & Blair Boatright, as they take their athletic careers to the next level!
