about development, in which road safety plays an important role.
Seminar on Foreign Language:
The Department of Automobile Engineering, DPCOE has organized one day seminar on “Foreign Language
and Higher Studies in Abroad” on 05/02/2019 at our institute for all branch students.
The program was arranged for the final year students of all branches along with interested students of third year.
The main motive of the seminar was to guide students regarding foreign language and study in abroad. The

Prize Distribution Ceremony of KSHITIJ 2019 was held on 3rd February, 2019 to felicitate the students who
participated and won in different categories. For all prize winners it was a proud moment as they are a source of
motivation for those who did not win any prizes. Hon. Secretary Smt. Uma Sagar Dhole Patil congratulated the
winners and encouraged more to be on stage next year.
COEP VISIT :
Students of First Year Engineering, DPCOE, Pune visited College of Engineering Pune on 2 February, 2019 for
understanding the concepts behind Robotics and 3D Printing. Students visited to Robotics Lab where COEP Coordinator
Dr. C.M.Deshpande explained technology involved in Robotics and Automation and demonstrated working of some robots
(flying Bird, Fish (for aerial and naval navigation) and bipedhumanoid robot, wall climbing robot, Voting machine . He also
shared some information about Machine learning & Artificial Intelligence, python and java & type materials use for parts
of Robots. After this visit, they went to Rapid Prototyping and 3D printing Lab where details of difference between 2D and
3D modeling(printing) were explained and he has also given idea about software’s used in 3D printing and shared
information about Rapid Prototyping and Fuse deposition Model (strotosys). Faculty coordinators from FE department
Prof. Anil Darekar, Prof. Basavaraj G K & Prof. Nita Gujarwere were involved in this program. The program was
successfully completed under the guidance of COEP faculty coordinators.

Why 7nm is so important ?
NEW TRENDS IN ENGINEERING
Flagship mobile chipsets have been using 10nm FinFet manufacturing for a couple of
years now. 7nm is the next process shrink-down, offering improvements to silicon area
and power efficiency as a result of the smaller transistor feature sizes. The trade-off is
the technology needed to make 7nm chips is becoming increasingly expensive, and so
are chip design costs.
The Apple A12 Bionic is a 64-bit ARM-basedsystem on a chip (SoC) designed
by Apple Inc. It first appeare in the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR which were
introduced on September 12, 2018. It has two high-performance cores which are
claimed to be 15% faster and 40% more energy-efficient than the Apple A11 and four
high-efficiency cores which are claimed to use 50% less power than the
energy-efficient cores in the A11.
Designed by Apple Inc.
Max. CPU clock rate to 2.49 GHz
Min. feature size 7 nm
Microarchitecture ARMv8‑A-Compatible
Cores Hexa-core (2× high performance
Vortex + 4× high efficiency Tempest)
L1 cache 128 KB instruction, 128 KB data
L2 cache 8 MB
Predecessor Apple A11 Bionic
GPU Apple-designed 4 core
The A12 features an Apple-designed 64-bit ARMv8.3-A six-core CPU, with two
high-performance cores running at 2.49 GHz called Vortex and four energy-efficient
cores called Tempest. The A12 also integrates an Apple-designed four-core graphics
processing unit (GPU) with 50% faster graphics performance than the A11. The A12
includes dedicated neural network hardware that Apple calls a "Next-generation
Engine". This neural network hardware has eight cores and can perform up to 5
operations per second.
The A12 is manufactured by TSMCusing a 7 nm FinFET process, the first to ship in
consumer product, and it contains 6.9 billion transistors. The die size of the A12 is
83.27 mm2, 5% smaller than the A11. It is manufactured in a package on
together with 4 GB of LPDDR4X memory in the iPhone XSand XS Maxand 3 GB of
LPDDR4X memory in the iPhone XR. The ARMv8.3 instruction set it supports
a significant security improvement in the form of pointer authentication, which
mitigates exploitation techniques such as those involving emory corruptions,
Jump-Oriented-Programming, and Return-Oriented-Programming.
