The Charter of the Senate prescribes two standing Senate Committees. The SteeringCommittee is elected by
the Senate and the Committee on Committees is appointed by the Steering Committee. In addition there are

The Committee on CommitteesReport on the CommitteeStructureof the University, which was accepted bythe Senate on September 25, 1969, and modified on October 30 (Second Senate Reports No. 3 and No. 6),provides for eightstandingCommitteesof the AcademicCouncil appointedby the Committeeon Committees." The standard term for appointments to standing Council Committees is three years, with continuing servicelimited to two consecutive terms or portions thereof. These provisions also apply to faculty members onUniversity Committees, as appointed by the President on nominationof the CoC. In all cases, students have beenappointed to these Committees by the CoC on nomination of the student Senate Committee on Nominations.Student appointments are for one year.
As indicated below, subcommittees have been established thus far by five Committees of the AcademicCouncil. Subcommitteesare created, appointedand chargedby theirrespective parent Committees, subject to theprovision that each subcommittee include at least one member of the parent Committee.
