    1. About the Foundation

    Eco-raees Foundation was createdin October 2005 under the RoyalDecree 208/2005 of February 25thon Electr ical and ElectronicEquipment, according to theEuropean Council and Parliament2 0 0 2 / 9 6 / C E D i r e c t i v e s

incorporation into national law; andunder Law 50/2002 on Foundations. These regulations establish the

need for a not-for-profit Integrated Environmental Management System, like ECORAEEsFoundation.

After Royal Decree 106/2008 on batteries, ECO-RAEES Foundation widened its sphere ofaction to button cells, dry cells and accumulators.ECO-RAEEs Foundation is a member of WEEE FORUM (Waste Electrical and ElectronicEquipment), the European Association that englobes the main Integrated WasteManagement Systems in European countries.

ECO-RAEES is a Waste Management Integrated System. It works through a WebApplication, managed by our professional staff. They coordinate the orders that are receivedfrom the Foundations members and from the collection points. Then, the logistics andtransportation department, who is in charge of communication to the different operators;transmits the orders for the collection and transportation of the Electrical and ElectronicEquipments Waste to the Temporary Storage Centres and finally to the treatment plants. The Foundation has a national sphere of action and is authorized to manage WEEE in everySpanish region.

ECO-RAEEs Foundation is certified with the ISO 9001-Quality and ISO 14001 - Environment and extend itscertification system to waste batteries and accumulators, being pioneer in Europe.

We have our place in the social media on the Internet, to

keep our members informed of our activity, and create afeedback to always improve and make a betterFoundation every day.

    1. Collection orders processing

ECO-RAEES was a pioneer by installing aWeb application to coordinate the electric andelectronic equipment and batteries collection

orders coming from member companies andcollection points, with the logistics andtranspor tat ion depar tment . This WebApplication, available through the users iconin www.eco-raee.com facilitates the wastemanaging tasks imposed by law to producers.

Once the collection order has been issued by the member companies or the collectionpoints, it is managed by the administration department, who verifies it and transfers it tothe Logistics Department. The Electronic and Electrical Equipment Waste is collectedfrom the Clean points, as shown in the photograph, from the member companies orfrom the collection points.

    3. Transportation to the Temporary Storage Centres (CAT)

The transportation to the Temporary StorageCentres has 3 different aims:

    1. Due to the high transportation costs andthe absence of treatment plants in everyregion, it allows the accumulation of thedifferent WEEE and its transportation to

    the plant.

    2. Its a previous WEEE classification phaseby categories, as not every treatmentplant accepts all categories

    3. Its a place where WEEE can be storedwhen treatment plants are overloaded orthey havent received the entry orderand/or issued a permission order.

    4. Transportation from the Temporary Storage Centres (CAT) to the TreatmentPlants

Not every Treatment Plant is authorized forprocessing all WEEE categories. For thatreason, waste is previously classified at theCAT.Once the WEEE arrive to the propertreatment plant, a reclassification processstarts and each device is dismantledaccording to the materials to be recicled.
