PROSPECTUS
CORNERSTONE ACADEMY (Private) Ltd
( CAPL ) aimsat providing education to enhance the employability of
graduates in specific fields of engineering and help them find
suitable jobs and open global career opportunities.
WELDING is one such field in which CAPL offers training for
international diplomas: International Welding Engineer
(IWE) and International Welding Technologist (IWT).These courses are designed by International Institute of
Welding and the diplomas are valid across the world in 55
countries.
Indian Institute of Welding-ANB (IIW-India-ANB) has
been authorised by International Institute of Welding (IIW)as its onlyAuthorised National Body (ANB) in India to
operate its international scheme and award InternationalDiplomas to welding personnel at various levels.
IIW-India-ANB in turn appoints Training institutes asApproved Training Bodies (ATBs) as per InternationalAuthorisation Board guideline No IAB-001r3-07 who will
actually impart the approved practical and theoreticaltraining programmes. Prospective candidates are required toundergo training in these ATBs in the course of their choice.
The ATB is to conduct approved courses designed to preparecandidates for examinations and qualifications of weldingpersonnel to International Standard as per IAB guideline.

Welding industries seeking to implement ISO 3834, whichenables them to bid more effectively for internationalwelding projects, would require their welding personnel topossess diplomas IWE or IWT.
Cornerstone Academy Private Ltd (CAPL) has been
provisionally approved as ATB to conduct classes for both
IWE and IWT courses. To teach the courses effectively CAPL
has put together a team of faculty members with vast
experience in teaching welding engineering and also in
Industry. Several regular faculty members who have
received their Ph.D degrees from IIT Madras and others
working in the welding industry for a couple of decades
across the world will teach the students. Apart from the
regular course, special topics will be covered by guest
lecturers drawn from leading educational and research
institutes such as IIT Madras, IGCAR and DRDL.
The course schedules are drawn in such a way that the
timings will suit welding professionals working in Industries
and as well as fresh graduates/ diploma holders.
ELIGIBILITY
B.E degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Metallurgical/Manufacturing/ Production Engineering with a firstclass for IWE.
Diploma in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering forIWT.
Preference will be given to employed professionals andpeople with industry experience.

THEORY CLASSES
Each student has to undergo 380 hours of theory classes
and 60 hours of practical classes as stipulated by IIWIndia-
ANB. Classes will be conducted as per the weekly schedulegiven below:
FRIDAY 6 - 9PM 3 HOURS
SATURDAY 9- 12 AM AND
1 4 PM
6 HOURS
SUNDAY 9 12 AM AND
1 4 PM
6 HOURS
ON OTHER
HOLIDAYS
2 5 PM
TOTAL 15 HOURS /WEEK
Minimum number of classes per week would be 15 andadditional classes may be conducted in case required
Total duration of the course will be a minimum of 6 months.
It may be extended in case necessary by another month to
train the students specially to face the final written test and
interview.

*Guest lectures on special topics will be delivered by
professors from IIT Madras and Scientists from IGCAR and
DRDL.
PRACTICAL CLASSES
Practical classes as per the syllabus (60 hours) will be held
at Om Sai Fabrication and Training Institute, Thiruvallur
which is one of the training institutes with modern
facilities, approved by IIW-India-ANB to conduct practical
training in the field of welding.
INTERNSHIP
Students without any industrial experience need to do a 3
months internship in an industry where welding is a major
fabrication process. This will be arranged by CAPL inindustries having a tie up with the academy. The students
can work as interns during day shifts (8AM to 2PM) for 5
days a week and attend the theory classes at the academy.
The concerned industry may or may not pay any stipend to
the students.
ASSIGNMENTS AND TESTS
The course demands hard work from the students which
includes weekly assignments and monthly tests. Library
facilities will be provided to students by CAPL at their
premises.

FEE PAYABLE
Tuition Fee : Rs. 70,000 (for IWE) & Rs 50,000 (for IWT)
Other Fee (includes amounts to be paid to IIW-India-ANB,Examination Fee, Practical training etc...): Rs. 15,000
Total Rs 85,000 (for IWE) & Rs 65,000 (for IWT)
JOB GUARANTEE
Upon completion of the course students will have to appear
for a written exam and an interview to be conducted by the
IIW-ANB. Diploma will be awarded to successful students.
CAPL guarantees jobs to all the candidates who obtain their
diplomas. Help will be extended to other candidates who
could not pass the exams in terms of further free training
and placement assistance.
HOSTEL AND MESS
Lodging and boarding will not be provided by CAPL. Rooms
and private hostels are available at a walkable distance from
the institute. Assistance in finding accommodation will be
extended to out station students.
