Introduction: Today we hear how God sets people free from their chains. Christ comes to

liberate us from the fears that keep us in sin and unhappiness. He comes to put

FIRST READING: I saiah 35: 1-6,10 The people of Israel are trapped in exile by a desert barrier. But the Spirit will irrigate the wilderness so that it becomes a green avenue to liberty.

SECOND READING: James 5: 7-10 Don’t give way to despair or depression, urges James. Look up and you’ll see that your rescuer is nearly here.

Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve — Saturday 24 December

Children will be needed for singing, reading, playing instruments and acting out the story of Christmas.

A practice will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, 23 December at 10am for children wishing to be involved.

The practice for musicians and singers will be from 7pm - 9pm on Friday, 23 December.

All children are invited to come to the Vigil Mass dressed as a nativity character.

Fr Peter thanks Mary O’Donnell and Julie McLaughlin for co-ordinating the Mass, and Tink Boyd for co-ordinating

the musicians and singers.

Thank you ….. Our parishioners have donated $933.35 to the St Joseph’s Cathedral Conservation Appeal.

The recent Trivia Night raised $508.60 for the Eddie Rice Camps.

POSITION VACANT- Diocesan Safeguarding Case Worker The Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton is seeking a Safeguarding Case Worker to provide person centred and strengths based trauma informed support to those who have experienced harm by Church personnel, responding to survivors of abuse with care, concern and compassion to their pastoral needs within the Catholic Church’s ethos. The role will support clients to formulate strategies that promote healing, build on their strengths and address their physical, emotional, educational, social and cultural needs and work with government and non-government agencies and private practitioners to support clients in their healing and recovery.
