1968– 48th Anniversary Year– 2016
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Cari Fratelli e Sorelle di Cellini,
May 30th was Memorial Day! I trust that all
members and families enjoyed this great long
weekend.
June 13th is our annual Memorial Mass with the
America Lodge at Notre Dame Church at 7:30pm.
Please join us in remembering all our members who
have passed this year. In addition, this year is the
10th anniversary of the passing of Father Donald B.
Licata, who was the State Chaplain for the NYS
OSIA. We will be having a special tribute to him as
well. June 13th is also the Feast of St. Anthony so we
call on all Anthony’s to be in attendance for a
blessing!
June 23rd we will be hosting our annual Scholarship
night, my favorite event of the year. There is no
better way for Cellini to promote our Culture and
Education than to award so many of our member’s
families with Scholarships to continue their
education. Please join me and the Committee at
Marcus Christ Hall at 7: 30 pm.
June 25th we will be hosting our annual Cellini
Picnic. There are many surprises in store and we
always have such a good time to family and friends.
Please bring all your families and friends to our
Picnic. There are so many activities, food and music.
If you never attended a picnic before, please plan to
attend this year. I want to thank Valerie and
Anthony and their committee for always putting on a
wonderful afternoon.
June 19th is Father’s Day. I want to take a moment to
wish all the fathers a happy day!
Orgoglio in Eredita’ Porta Unita’
“Pride in Heritage brings Unity!”
Welcome to June!
With School almost at a close I want to wish all
the students, parents and grandparents a very
happy and safe summer!
For Cellini, June starts with our State
Convention at Villa Roma in Callicoon, NY.
Thursday and Friday our lodge delegates will
make their way up to Callicoon to discuss the
business of the Order.
Thanks to you, our members, Cellini is lucky
enough to have a large group of delegates that
attend each year. This year there will be two
past presidents running for re-election in their
current State positions. Luigi Squillante is
running for his second term as District II Trustee
and Grace Ferrara is running for her second term
as Commissioner of Arbitration. I know you will
all join me in wishing them luck and in bringing
back another victory for each of them.
In addition, this year Cellini is so proud to have
Jean Gagliardo receive the Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro
Award, which is in my opinion way overdue.
Jean, we at Cellini are so proud of you and in all
that you have done and continue to do for the
Lodge and for the Order.
On May 12th Vincent Cappasso was given the
Senior Recognition Award by the Town of
North Hempstead. In addition to all Vinny does
for the lodge he is well known within the
community and we at Cellini are lucky to have
him on our team. Thanks Vinny for all that you
do for Cellini and congratulations on your
well-deserved award.
May 15th was Mother’s Day brunch at the
Orchard Restaurant in Garden City. Thank you
to Joann Grossman and Maria D’urso for putting
this event together. Everyone had a wonderful
time and enjoyed good food and good company.
Sincerely,
Alfonso Squillante Alfonso Squillante, President 2015-2017

Father’s Day Poem
Alfonso Squillante
What Is A Dad? A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.
A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.
A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail...
