As before, information is included for all City departments regardless of funding source and expenditure data is provided on a per contract basis and includes appropriation amounts and individual contract balances. We will continue to work with the various departments on a regular basis to ensure that cost savings measures are applied and that the information we report is accurate. Subject: Outside Counsel Expenditures Fiscal Year 2012 (Second Quarter: October 1, 2011- December 31, 2011)

Attached please find the Citywide Outside Counsel Expenditures Report for Fiscal Year 2012 as of December 31, 2011. Pursuant to City Council approval of July 27, 2011, this report now captures expenditures on a quarterly, rather than bi-monthly, basis. In addition, as directed by Council, the City Attorney met with the GAO to discuss appropriate revisions to the report. As a result of that meeting, in this revised report, General Funded contract expenditures are separated from Special funded ones and the recap is organized by client department rather than paying department There is also the addition of a "Status of General Fund Appropriations" which shows any previous draws from the Unappropriated Balance outside counsel line item for the year and the remaining balance in that line item.
