P’ R Andzia Leao, President/CEO At the annual members’ meeng this past April, I reported that construcon of the elevator at Casa de la Playa had just started. I’m elated to report that construcon was completed as scheduled and on budget, with stunning results as you can see. In early July, I had the pleasure to be joined by our Puerto Vallarta resort manager, Sergio Cresta Solari, Mexico property manager, Jorge Guerrez, and aorney Lic. Eduardo Rosales Gomez for the blessing and ribbon cung celebraon, which, to the delight of our in-house guests from all three Puerto Vallarta resorts was followed by a beauful fiesta, complete with an authenc Mariachi band and delicious Mexican fare. It was fun for all with laughter and dancing under a spectacular Puerto Vallarta sunset. I also reported that we had just launched our new TimeShareWare reservaons and database program. The program is being phased-in as follows: Phase one: Palm Springs corporate office converng from ADBM to TimeShareWare — an extremely complex and me- consuming task, which is being tackled diligently by our capable staff; Phase two: hands-on training of resort managers and their front-desk personnel, which began with La Paloma in Rosarito Beach and Coral Mar in Cancún and will be followed by Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta; once this is completed, phase three kicks in with the opening of the online portal to all members, which will allow real-me access to their accounts, and the ability to pay dues with immediate credit, fill in reservaon requests, and view their reservaon history for the past five years.

A publication for members of WIVC Fall 2018 Edition

Your Vacation Home since 1983!

At the annual members’ meeng this past April, I reported that construcon of the elevator at Casa de la Playa had just started. Eduardo Rosales Gomez for the blessing and ribbon cung celebraon, which, to the delight of our in-house guests from all three Puerto Vallarta resorts was followed by a beauful

fiesta, complete with an authenc Mariachi band and delicious Mexican fare. It was fun for all with laughter and dancing under a spectacular Puerto Vallarta sunset. I also reported that we had just launched our new TimeShareWare reservaons and database program. The program is being phased-in as

follows: Phase one: Palm Springs corporate office converng from ADBM to TimeShareWare — an extremely complex and me-consuming task, which is being tackled diligently by our capable staff; Phase two: hands-on training of resort managers and their front-desk personnel, which began with La Paloma in Rosarito Beach and Coral Mar in Cancún and will be followed by Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta; once this is completed, phase three kicks in with the opening of the online portal to all members, which will allow real-me access to their accounts, and the ability to pay dues with immediate credit, fill in reservaon requests, and view their reservaon history for the past five years.

C’ RKenneith F. Lacy, COB, CFO One of the things that we pride ourselves at WIVC is the fact that our annual dues are among the lowest in the indus-

try as compared with similar meshare clubs. We have been able to keep our dues without increases for the past five

years, assisted by favorable internaonal exchange rates and our close aenon to our budgets. At this me, however,

because of obvious financial pressures deriving from our ongoing refurbishment program, installaon of an elevator at

Casa de la Playa, etc., we find it necessary to implement a modest dues increase beginning in the new fiscal year. There-

fore, beginning October 1, 2018, dues will be $500 per week for one-bedroom memberships, and $560 per week for two-

bedroom memberships. This will allow for the refurbishment program to connue without interrupon, and to keep our

cash reserves at opmum levels. The operang budget of income and expenses for next fiscal year ending September 30,

2019 and the WIVC 2018-2019 Fee Schedule are included as an insert to this issue of The Sunseeker. Please feel free to

direct any quesons or comments to the corporate office in Palm Springs.

VACATION TIME – WHY TAKE IT?

Vacaons lead to relaxaon and beer mental health, which translates to beer relaonships. The vast majority of employers agree that when employees take me off, they return to work with more energy, im-proved focus and creavity. Not to menon, vacaons help make a person happier, and employers view happier employees as more producve employ-ees. Oops, used all your weeks? Need more me? Purchase a Bonus Week.

Three directors will be elected to serve a two-year term at the annual members’ meeng next April. To serve on the board of directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the club to make a posive contribuon. The club relies on its directors for guidance, establishing policies, developing strategies aiming to achieve its goals. An ideal candidate is one who possesses personal qualies of knowledge, integrity, and credibility. If you have experience in business, property management or accounng, the nominang commiee invites you to apply for a posion on the board of directors. Please contact the Palm Springs corporate office to ask for an applicaon, which must be submied no later than November 30, 2018.

Directors Jorge Guerrez and Donald W. Eastvold, Jr. were reelect-

ed to serve an addional two-year term at the April 2018 annual members’

meeng. Also, Keith Vance, CPA, was appointed auditor and all acons by

the board of directors were approved.

B-1-1/2 and A-1-1/2 Memberships EXPLAINED... These limited memberships, nicknamed “Half Weeks”, were created as a markeng soluon to accommodate those would-be members who in-tended to travel every-other-year and not every year as most members do. Thus, the term “Half Week” came to be.

It’s actually a very simple system and this is how it works: such mem-bers purchased their memberships for half the price of a regular week, they pay half the dues each year, which means that every two years their dues are fully paid and a full week is available for their use.

To further clarify, think like this: 1. You purchased the right to use one week every other year (i.e. one half week per year); 2. You pay half the dues each year (on the anniversary of your purchase); 3. One week is credited to your account on that first year in an inacve status; 4. That week becomes acve and useable when you pay the second half of the dues on the second year. Got it? Want to make it simpler? Upgrade to a regular membership, and enjoy vacaons every year.

To upgrade from B-1-1/2 to B-1, the upgrade fee is $600.

To upgrade from A-1-1/2 to A-1, the upgrade fee is $750.

As it has been menoned many mes in the past, at WIVC we think of our resort managers as the soul of the club and a great source of pride. We are always bragging about them — with good reason. Today, we want to highlight our

No one has received more meaningful accolades from members than Antonio. Those who visit the Villacana rarely fail to communicate their admiraon of Antonio to the Palm Springs corporate office, which we greatly appreciate. Did you know? • Sitting with legs crossed is common

in North and South America and some European countries, but showing the sole of your shoe to another person is considered disre-spectful in Asia and Middle East.

• Bargaining is often an expected part of transactions in most open markets abroad. Learn to haggle, it’s fun and you’ll get better deals.

• Showing the peace sign in the Unit-ed States is the equivalent of giving someone the finger in the United Kingdom, Australia and South Afri-ca. Just remember that this only applies should your palm be facing you. If your palm is facing out-wards then you’re in the clear.

• The “okay” hand symbol is equiva-lent to “giving the finger” in Brazil.

• In Morocco, it is considered impolite to see someone you know, say “hi”, and keep walking. Be prepared to chat for awhile about family, chil-dren, health, etc.
