  • HORIZONTAL SPLIT CASE FIRE PUMP SYSTEM DIESEL ENGINE DRIVEN

    Pump: Horizontal split case, double-suction, UL Listed, FM Approved, mounted on a common base with and flexibly coupled to a diesel engine. Pump sized for rated capacity and head. Also must be capable of producing 150% rated flowat not less than 65% rated head and not to exceed 140% rated head at a shutoff or no-flow condition.

    Diesel Engine: UL Listed or FM Approved diesel engine adequately sized so as to not overload at any point on the pumphydraulic curve. Consideration must be given and de-rates applied based on job site elevation and ambient temperature.Engines must be specifically designed for fire protection service.

    Coupling: Flexible type, sized to transmit the horsepower requirements of the pump. Coupling shall be furnished with anOSHA-design coupling guard.

    Base: Fabricated steel design base capable of adequately supporting the weight of the pump and driver. After pump hasbeen fully piped and accurately aligned with the engine, the base should be fully grouted into place.

    Controller: Diesel engine controller starts the engine automatically on a loss of system pressure. System pressure is monitored via a sensing line from the system side of the check valve. Controller can also be manually started. Controllersare UL Listed and FM Approved specifically for fire pump service.

  • Standard Pump Accessories: Accessories furnished with the fire pump system include: suction and discharge gaugesand automatic air release valve. Other accessories commonly furnished as part of the fire pump package include: hosevalve manifold with hose valves, caps and chains, flowmeter, main relief valve and enclosed waste cone, ball drip valve,eccentric suction reducer, concentric discharge increaser.

    Standard Engine Accessories: Accessories furnished with the diesel engine include: engine starting batteries, batteryrack, battery cables, engine exhaust flexible connector and silencer.

    Jockey Pump: Jockey pump keeps pressure in the system to prevent the main fire pump from operating to maintain system pressure. Jockey pumps are generally a few gallons per minute sized to overcome small system leaks and typically sized for 10 PSI greater than the rated pressure of the main fire pump. Jockey pumps are not required to be UL Listed or FM Approved.

    Jockey Pump Controller: Starts the jockey pump across the line by sensing the system pressure via a sensing line fromthe system side of the check valve. This sensing line must be independent from the main fire pump controller sensing line.Controller is sized per the jockey pump motor horsepower and voltage. Jockey pump controllers are UL Listed specificallyfor this service.

  • HORIZONTAL SPLIT CASE FIRE PUMP SYSTEM ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVEN

    Pump: Horizontal split case, double-suction, UL Listed, FMApproved, mounted on a common base with and flexiblycoupled to an electric motor. Pump sized for rated capacityand head. Also must be capable of producing 150% ratedflow at not less than 65% rated head and not to exceed140% rated head at a shutoff or no-flow condition.

    Electric Motor: UL Listed or FM Approved motor sized soas to not overload at any point on the pump hydraulic curveas per NFPA #20. Motors are open-drip proof type with a1.15 service factor wound for the correct voltage. Motor to be compatible with the type of controller (i.e., startingcharacteristics).Coupling: Flexible type, sized to transmit the horsepowerrequirements of the pump. Coupling shall be furnished withan OSHA-design coupling guard.

    Base: Fabricated steel design base capable of adequatelysupporting the weight of the pump and driver. After pumphas been fully piped and accurately aligned with the motor,the base should be fully grouted into place.

  • PACKAGED FIRE PUMP SYSTEMSWhen the application calls for a completely packaged fire pump system, Fairbanks Morse Pump has thecapability to meet these requirements. Systems include the pump, driver, controller, jockey pump andjockey pump controller all mounted on a common base. Controller is pre-wired to the driver, sensing lines are pre-piped from the controllers to the system side of the check valve, and suction anddischarge piping is piped to the edge of the common base. Isolation valves, check valve, and test header piping (and/or flowmeter piping) can be supplied as required. For diesel engine driven units, thepackage would also include the mounting of the fuel tank, piping of fuel lines to the engine and connection of batteries to the engine.

    Should your requirements include the packaged fire pump system to include an enclosure, FairbanksMorse Pump can provide the protective structure to house the system. Packaged systems can bedesigned for use with horizontal split case, vertical turbine or vertical in-line pump designs.

    Product DescriptionThe DIESEL Plus Fire Pump Controllers from Eaton Corporation are designed to control and monitor 12 or 24 volt, diesel fire pump engines and are among the most technically advanced diesel engine controllers available.

    They are an enhanced version of the original microprocessor-based, FD100 Series of diesel engine controllers. Programming is straightforward due to the use of the core firmware and menu structure utilized in the LMR Plus Series of electric controllers.

    The use of an embedded web page for retrieving diagnostics and history reports, along with USB and Ethernet communication ports for downloading data, make the Diesel Plus Series of controllers easy to troubleshoot and maintain. As well, critical information can be easily accessed and used for report generation and analysis, which aids in providing effective, reliable fire protection.

    Communication

    Embedded Web PageThe embedded web pages allow the user to view the current status of the controller as well as all amperage readings, set points, diagnostics and history. An external computer connected via the Ethernet port is used to access the pages. The specific data required can be downloaded for reference purposes.

    Communication TypesCanbusThe controller can communicate with the diesel engine electronic control module (ECM) and log key engine data via the Canbus (SAE J1939) engine port.

    USBThe USB port is used to download the controller message history, statistics, diagnostics, status and configuration data to a USB disk drive. The USB port can also be used to upload custom messages, additional languages, and update the microprocessor firmware.

    EthernetAn external computer can be communicate with the Diesel Plus controller via Ethernet. An embedded web page will display the controller's current status, as well as display all current readings, set points and history.

    ModbusThe Diesel Plus fire pump controllers communicate to systems using the Regular level of Modbus (includes both RTU and ASCII transmission modes). Communication settings are user configurable through the Diesel Plus configuration menu.

    Programmable Inputs Up to 10 additional, programmable inputs can be programmed to indicate up to 13 different types of inputs. They can be programmed to energize the common alarm output, link to relays and optional LED's and latch until reset by the user.All optional inputs, outputs and LED's can be linked, as required. They can also be programmed with time delay functions.

    4-20mA Analog Input External devices that provide a 4-20mA input can be installed in the Diesel Plus controller. These may include flow meters or a second transducer that can be used as for monitoring functions such as low suction, or for backup purposes.

    Common Alarm RelayThe FD120 controller has a common alarm relay which energizes whenever there are any alarm conditions present. This relay is energized under normal conditions and has LED status indication.

    Alarm Relay RatingAll alarm relays are rated 10 amps, 220Vac, 1/3HP resistive load only.

    Programmable OutputsUp to 10 additional, programmable outputs (two standard; eight via optional output boards) can be programmed to indicate up to 45 output conditions. They can be programmed for fail safe and latch until reset by the user. All optional inputs, outputs and LED's can be linked, as required. They can also be programmed with time delay functions. As well, six optional alarm LED's can be programmed for up to 28 alarm conditions.

    Power / Voltage

    Universal Voltage SupplyThe controller can be powered with supply voltages from 90Vac to 240Vac by connecting to the three input terminals L,N,G located on the bottom left of the engine board.

    Dual Output12 or 24Vdc output is selectable via a DIP Switch located on the battery chargers.Note: Each controller is factory set for 12Vdc. If 24Vdc is required from the factory, it should be noted on the ordering information.

    Line FilterA line filter incorporated onto the engine board, is used to reduce/eliminate external incoming voltage transients.

    AC Power DisconnectA breaker located inside the controller on the Engine Board, is used to switch on and off AC power to the unit. It will illuminate when energized.

    DC Power DisconnectThe engine board houses two on-board circuit breakers used to switch on or off DC power from the batteries.Each breaker has an LED mounted on the engine board that illuminates when the breaker is energized.

    Alarm and Status Indication

    AccessibilityAll alarm and status LED's as well as the LCD Display and programming buttons are accessible from the front of the controller through a panel cutout.

    LCD DisplayThe Controller Display Board contains a 4 Line by 40 Characters wide, backlit, LCD display which is capable of generating multiple languages. The display will show the current system pressure, time and date, charger output voltage and any custom messages, alarms or timer values.

    DC FailA visual indication and audible alarm is provided to indicate DC power loss due to one or both batteries being disconnected from the controller. This indication will also be provided if the controller is not operating due to an electronic board failure.
