Uses of Basalt
Basalt is one of the oldest and most durable stones known to man for road building and flooring. In fact, the most ancient known
stone road in the world, estimated at over 4,500 years old at fayoam, Egypt, is made from basalt and was used to transport basalt block from the historical quarries. The ancient Egyptians appreciated basalt so much that they actually used it as a base for one of their most historic monuments, the Mortuary Temple at the Great Pyramid in Giza Basalt has also been used for centuries in the great cities of the Middle East and Europe.

14 USES OF BASALT
There is no comparison between a basalt road and asphalt when one considers the overalllook and feel of the project. Asphalt is cold and industrial and lacks the warmth and class of basalt paving. Asphalt serves a purpose and that is to merely lay down a hard base which can be driven over. It has no character. Basalt, on the other hand, has a style and elegance that tells the user that this is a special area, not just something to drive through. When used for individual projects, it sets an area aside from its surroundings with a style and class all its own.
Basalt is also far more durable than asphalt and its look actually improves with age and use. Whileasphalt tends to break down, fade and crack with time and usage, basalt takes on a slow polish andsmoothness by time.
