connections in our designsDesigners and their life stories are associated. “Designers come first”. Every object has a touchpoint between the creator and his personal tale.

curiosity for materialsOur designs are crafted mixing noble and everyday materials to create a new design language.

dedication for what we makeNothing great can be achieved without enthusiasm and commitment. Every object is shaped, designed, crafted with these ingredients.

artisans & makers, our passionExquisite design cannot be achieved without great makers. We look for the best ones in Europe. In the remote mountains of Bohemia or in the centre of Brussels, they master their work and are an integral part of our philosophy.

ars fabricandi is also a showroomplaced into Brussels urban design landscape. ars fabricandi is a showcase for anyone who wants to interact with our designs in a place where designers actually create and work.

frederik delbart Frederik Delbart (1988) is a Belgian designer, graduated from La Cambre Arts Visuels in Brussels. First gaining experience by working with international companies (Philips, Cosentino…), he later started his own design office in 2011. The studio’s client portfolio ranges from renowned international corporations to local companies, but also from museums to cultural institutions. Frederik Delbart Design Studio is active in the field of Product Design, Lighting Design, Furniture Design, Design Strategy, Interior Design and Creative Direction.

Inspired by textures and structures, the main purpose of the studio is creating honest and simple objects. By having a critical approach on the way objects are used and look, every step of the “design process” is deeply analysed and regarded with respect for the user, the manufacturer and the editor.

Passionate by raw and pure materials such as wood, glass, metal, porcelain and paper, the studio tries to find new limits for each by using those materials in a mix of respect for tradition and sense of innovation. Frederik Delbart believes that an open mind mixed with a large cultural background will form the way to a successful product.

angeles ortiz Born in 1992, Ángeles is a BA Product designer graduated from IED. Since 2013, Ángeles work has being awarded by various institutions, such as the Rijksmuseum Domus Academy.

Her work shows an insightful commitment to culture, human behaviour, and arts & crafts raised from a high-level research work. In 2015, she joined Fabrica as a product design resident, and is currently working on a project that researches how design can improve Ecuadorian children experience in schools.

ainhoa garmendia Born in San Sebastian (Spain) in 1992, Ainhoa graduated in 2014 as a Product Design Engineer in Tecnun University, San Sebastian. She did her exchange studies in Aalto University, Helsinki, where she learnt from their sustainable lifestyle and awareness. That knowledge was a big inspiration for her next personal pro- jects, including recycling plastic from the sea to design long-lasting products.

Following these practices in de- sign, Ainhoa moved to Madrid to work at Ecoalf, a sustainable fashion brand. Later, she worked as a product designer in Ciszak Dalmas studio, also in Madrid. Ainhoa is very interested in telling stories through objects and creating awareness about social and contemporary issues.

quentin vuong Born in 1989, Quentin is a product designer who graduated in 2015 with a product design master from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. During his studies, he developed a body of research around processing materials such as paper.

This field of research has grown into a new project using Corsican raw cork, for this he is working with different partners such as FabLab, an industrial factory and local craftsmen. Since January 2016, Quentin is part of the Fabrica product design team.

Boléia in Brazil is the name of a truck’s cabin, the place where the trucker lives when he is on the road. Boléia chair is made of Italian full-grain leather with organic, modernistic forms that draw a seat and backrest suspended in the air. The leather is supported by a simple orthogonal wooden structure. In dialogue, organic forms on the leather embrace and contrast with the wooden structure’s straight lines.

The wooden pieces, as well as the leather, are joint by brass screws. These screws, as well as the brass bars, have been tailor-made for Boléia chair.

The simple construction method was intended to be as straightforward and evident as possible. All of the chair’s construction elements are exposed, revealing the inherent aesthetics of materials and processes.

The chair is entirely made in Italy.

A collection of bottles with simple and elegant shapes, designed by Giorgio Bonaguro for ars fabricandi.Inspired by ancient tools used to simulate the solar system, these objects are characterized by two distinctive elements: crystal glass bottles with a slim shape, almost a sort of pedestal; and spherical onyx "caps", reminiscent of planets observed in the telescope, thanks to the natural grain and color of these beautiful stones that make them unique and different from each other.

Planetario is a family in the making: new precious elements can be added thanks to the many varia-tions of onyx, like in the sky map you can add new planets for the desire to discover and be amazed.

MATERIALSoak wood, glass

PRODUCED INBelgium, Italy

Arena low table is the result of the idea of finding the middle between the know-how of the crafts-man and the technological advancement of the machine. By using old tools in combination with CNC milling machines, it is possible to innovate as far as both the form and the production process are concerned. Arena is a hybrid object, accessible to the public, without losing the love for the know-how, rather on the contrary.

Arena is inspired by the aesthetics of ancient Roman theatres, and takes back the building systems of that era by innovating it at every level and detail.
