Let’s meet neighbors with a connection to our hometowns. Let’s show off our Hometown Pride! Tents representing different states, regions, or countries will be located on the athletic fields. Be sure to stroll along Hometown Way and enjoy the people, snacks, or drinks in each tent.

Reflection Only for today, I will seek to live the livelong day positively without wishing to solve the problems of my life all at once. Only for today, I will dress modestly; I will not raise my voice; I will be courteous in my behavior; I will not criticize anyone; I will not claim to improve or to discipline anyone except myself. Only for today, I will be happy in the certainty that I was created to be happy, not only in the other world but also in this one. Only for today, I will adapt to circumstances, without requiring all circumstances to be adapted to my own wishes. Only for today, I will devote ten minutes to some good reading, for good reading is necessary to the life of the soul. Only for today, I will do one good deed and not tell anyone about it. Only for today, I will do at least one thing I do not like doing; and if my feelings are hurt, I will make sure that no one notices. Only for today, I will make a plan for myself: I may not follow it to the letter, but I will make it. And I will be on guard against two evils: hastiness and indecision. Only for today, I will firmly believe, despite appearances, that the good providence of God cares for me as no one else who exists in this world. Only for today, I will have no fears. In particular, I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful and to believe in goodness.

Prince of Peace Pastoral Council Needs You!
As members on the Pastoral Council conclude their term of service, we need volunteers to become part of the Council.
The Council’s main goal is to be an advisor to the Pastoral team for both the mid and long vision for Prince of Peace.
This will allow us the opportunity to build on our solid foundation, “All are Welcome Stewardship” efforts.
The Council meets every 6-8 weeks, with an agenda of multiple topics to evaluate. If you have an interest in
participating and learning more about our needs and activities, contact the parish office or Bill Przybysz at
205.985.8507 or email [email protected].

Religious Education
Confirmation Parent Meeting this Sunday, August 28 at 9:40 am in the Day Chapel for all parents who have a student in the Parish that are preparing to receive this Sacrament.
“Over and over throughout the Bible we read about God choosing people and calling them to a new life. God called Noah, Abraham, Moses, Gideon, Joshua, David, Jeremiah, Jonah, Mark, John the Baptist, Peter, James, John, Matthew, Zechariah, the
rich young man, and now God is calling you.
You are called and chosen.
God has a plan for you and your life. We read in Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plan I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.’”
God is deeply interested in every aspect of your life - and that’s why he does everything he can to encourage you to develop a powerful spiritual life.
You are called and chosen. God has chosen you and now he is calling you to a new life.” Decision Point
Please keep the students, parents, catechists, and sponsors in your prayers as they begin to enter the journey towards a new spiritual life by preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Sunday School for grades K3-10 will begin on Sunday, September 18. Registration has begun. Please fill out a registration form at the Religious Education Office.
If you have any questions, please contact, Megan Everett, [email protected].

Ministry to the Sick:
Volunteers Needed
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states the priority with which Jesus held the care of the sick and dying as a component of his ministry and life: Christ’s compassion toward the sick and his many healings of every kind of infirmity are a resplendent sign that ‘God has visited his people’ (Luke 7:16). If you feel a calling to be a Minister to the sick, now is the time to answer this call to action. For more information email, [email protected] or call Stacey Fitch 205.822.9125 x 43.

We are a Stewardship Parish
The four pillars of stewardship: Prayer, Formation, Service and Hospitality help parishioners witness,
experience and live the stewardship way of life. These four pillars support the parish community and we are all called
through our baptismal promises to contribute our time, talent and treasure to them.

Develop a Culture of Safety
In a culture of safety, people are not merely encouraged to work toward change; they take action when it is needed. Inaction in the face of safety problems is taboo and eventually the pressure comes form all directions - from peers as well as leaders. There is no room in a culture of safety for those who uselessly point fingers or say, “Safety is not my responsibility, so I’ll file a report and wash my hands of it.” .
Even so, an organization can improve upon safety only when leaders are visibly committed to change and when they enable staff to openly share safety information. When an organization does not have such a culture, staff members are often unwilling to report adverse events and unsafe conditions because they fear reprisal or believe reporting won’t result in any change.
Senior leaders must drive the culture change by demonstrating their own commitment to safety and providing the resources to achieve results. Their message about safety must be consistent and sustained, as it takes a long time for culture to change. Surveys that measure staff perceptions about the organization’s culture regarding safety are often useful tools to assess the presence of a culture of safety.
