Impressions of the Cordilleras

We drew a picture from our Social Studies Unit,

The Cordillera located in Western Canada, West-

ern. We learned about climate, activities and

physical features. We learned about the animals

who live in the Cordillera area. The Cordillera has

rocky mountains and there is a lot of fresh rivers

and streams. There’s a lot of lunch green forests

and it is a pretty part of Canada.

A Visit From Our Assistive Technology Team On February 1st 2019, students from the ISP program were treated to a visit by a member of the Assistive Technology Team. Ms. Douglas, an expert on all things Assis-tive Technology, came to our classroom to share her knowledge on Google Drive, the Read and Write App and web activities to help us with our keyboarding skills. Students learned how to organize their Google Drive using coloured fold-ers and how to improve their keyboard-ing skills using the awesome website www.typingclub.com We also got a re-fresher on the Read and Write App. Ms. Douglas was impressed with our ability to use the Read and Write App and the Google Drive effectively! We are lucky to have the Assistive Technology team take time out of their day to help us. We had a wonderful morning with Ms. Doug-las and we learned a lot!

Celebrating 100 Days of School!

Our 100 Day Projects

Mrs. DiIorio’s Grade 1 Class

For the 100th day of school, our class made 100 Day projects. We had to put 100 things on our Bristol boards to show what 100 looks like. Some of us put things like 100 stickers, pom-

poms, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, jewels and feathers. Alex-ander. D even made a 3-D asteroid belt with 100 space items on it. We loved presenting our projects to our friends in class and hanging them up outside in the halls for everyone to en-

joy too.

Let’s Help Catholic Charities by Supporting ShareLife

ShareLife’s mission is to “Live the Gospel by providing for those in need” This is done through their support of many diverse Catholic social service agencies here in the GTA and beyond.

This year, ShareLife Week for Schools will be celebrated the week of April 8-12. All students and staff are invited Board-wide Civvies Day on Friday, April 12, 2019 to raise funds for the ShareLife campaign. Your donation of a loonie or a toonie will go a long way to supporting youth, the elderly, the marginalized and the vulnerable.

We thank everyone in the TCDSB community for all that they do throughout the year to help others—giving of their time and their resources to make a difference. We applaud those efforts, and take great pride in the commitment to living our Catholic values and putting faith into action.

Toronto Catholic District School Board is pleased to offer students a communications tool called Anonymous Alerts. The Anonymous Alerts reporting system helps to promote safe, positive and accepting School climates by empowering students to anonymously report inappropriate behaviours to school staff. The system allows for 1-way or 2-way anonymous encrypted communications between submitters (students, parents or community members) and Administrators and/or school staff. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or to reveal their identity when submitting a report.
