CADBURY WORLD TRIP

Message from PWA;

46 Year 10 Business and Geography GCSE

students visited Cadbury world on Monday 18th

April.

Students attended a lesson about the history of

the company, how the chocolate is made, the

impact of increased consumption and

marketing techniques used.

We then toured the factory

looking at the production

lines and sampled some

fantastic chocolate along

the way.

Students experienced the

family brand and what it

stands for and saw how the

products and the company

over the last 100 years.

Charlotte said "It was so

interesting to find out that

Cadbury were the first

business to really put their

work first and give them

holiday pay and

healthcare."

We then visited the biggest

Cadbury chocolate shop in

the world and experience a

4D cinema.

Students were well behaved and this

was a fantastic day out.

BFET NEWSLETTER

The trust has published its latest

newsletter this week. There’s a lot

going on between all trust schools so

it’s definitely worth a read!

A copy has been issued to all CMA

staff and there’s even a copy up in

our Newsroom (Meeting Room 2).

Here’s a snippet from the CMA

article featured on page 2 …

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

At the start of every term LMO sends out a ‘Thought of the Day” for every school day at

CMA.

Some of the ‘Thought of the Days’ are shown below but from now on we will be featuring

our favourite each Friday.

The one we’ve picked this week is;

“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”- Ralph

Waldo Emerson who was an American essayist, lecturer, and poet who led

the Transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH UPDATE

Message from HBA and MRO;

On the first Monday of the Easter break, Year

10 participants of the Duke of Edinburgh

Bronze Award went on their very first practise

expedition to Edale, Derbyshire. They braved

some very difficult weather and temperatures

and demonstrated some excellent team

working skills back at camp.

Well done everybody!

DM SPORTS FOUNDATION

During the Easter break Abraham Fobil, Year 7, took

part in the ‘60 Second Interview’ with Diane Modahl

Sports Foundation.

DM use local school facilities for their sports clubs, so that

they can reach young people where they already are.

Their aim is for students not to have to travel to a distant

sports club, or adapt to a different environment. They

work closely with teachers to break down any barriers,

and to show that sport is for everyone.

CAREERS YEAR 8 TRIP

Message from VSC;

On Friday 1st April 45 of our Year 8 students got the

opportunity to visit Connell College and sample a

day in the life of a college student.

Our students took part in lectures and activities

around their aspirations and future plans for both

education and employment. They were given a full tour

of the college and took part in both college level lessons

and workshops, in which they all excelled.

Students were fully engaged throughout the day and

feedback from college staff was exceptional.

Well done Year 8

for your superb

representation of

Cedar Mount

students!

SPELLING BEE COMPETITION

Message from HBA;

On Wednesday 20th

April, teams

representing each house in the

academy took part in Cedar Mount’s

first ever ‘Spelling Bee’ competition. It

was really lovely to see such excited

supporters from across the academy

and each of the teams put their all

into the competition. The winning house was

Martin Luther King.

However, massive congratulations are in

order for Einstein who, despite only having

three team members, managed to come a

very close second! The individual prize was

awarded to Sonia Utulu from M.L.K who

demonstrated her spelling prowess

throughout the competition, rarely

making a single mistake. A great-

big thank you must also be given to

Sahara in Year 7 who saved the

day in assisting with the

adjudication of the competition.

Prizes and certificates will be

awarded in assemblies over the

next week.

Congratulations to all involved!

MANCHESTER UNITED

LMO and RAL took 14 students from Year 7-10 to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 2-0. The students had a brilliant time and were very well

behaved.
