HOW AND WHEN WAS THE PRACTICE OF THE SABRAGE INVENTED?Two hundred years ago, stylish young cavalry o�cers in the French Army would slice the cork

o� the Champagne bottle with their sabre.

SABREUR This is the first step in the Confrérie du Sabre d’Or. The sabrage will be done at Oasis attendedby the Maître-Sabreur of the Order. The successful sabrage will be honoured with the Diplôme

de Sabreur and the actual cork and glass ring removed from the bottle will be presented in a velvet bag.

CHEVALIER This title is bestowed also at Oasis on New Year’s Eve.

The Chevalier will be honoured with the Reliquaire de Chevalier and the Diplôme.
