Who is Celerie Kemble?A partner at Kemble Interiors, Inc., originally founded in 1982 in Palm Beach, FL by Kemble’s mother, Mimi Maddock McMakin, Kemble opened the NYC branch 10 years ago. A prominent fixture in the New York design community, Kemble has been designing inspiring and highly publicized residential and commercial interiors for nearly 15 years. As Merida CEO Catherine Forster Connolly says, “We have long admired Celerie’s approach to her design business. She is as accessible as she is sophisticated and as smart as she is creative. We share her philosophical approach to design and are thrilled to cre-ate a new line of business for both of our businesses.”

Celerie has a decidedly eclectic approach to design, which will pro-vide a refreshing twist on Merida’s timeless designs while expanding on and pushing the boundaries of Merida’s Fall 2011 “Made in MA” wool collection. Kemble is known for incorporating organic materials into her design, making her partnership with Merida a natural fit. As Merida’s Creative Director Maegan Fee says, “for years I have ad-mired Celerie’s incredible sense of design and am excited to have the opportunity to unite our creative forces. I know that her passion, eye for style and beauty will help develop and shape the collection to transcend boundaries for Merida”.

“We have long admired Celerie’s approach to her design business. She is as accessible as she is sophisticated and

as smart as she is creative.”

The Celerie Kemble brand...

Over the past 5 years Celerie Kemble has been quietly building a solid foundation for her influential design brand, beginning with her strategic alignment with one of the country’s leading textile empires, Schumacher. Partnering for the first time in 2008, Kemble is now one of Schumacher’s strongest performing designer collaborations.

Kemble is also influencing and shaping the design world by means of her two top-selling published books: 2008’s To Your Taste, and 2011’s Black & White (and a bit in between). To Your Taste details classic interiors, while Black & White (and a bit in between) inspires through the many unique looks achieve with use of black and white in design.

Inspiration for the Celerie Kemble by Merida Collection...“I’m inspired by life

experiences, travels, nature, fashion, archi-tecture, patterns and

the repetition of an object. I’m intrigued

by design contra-dictions, making the

common unusual, refreshing the old

and designing with a twist.”

-- Maegan Fee, Creative Director, Merida
