GENERAL CAMP PROGRAM For questions concerning camp itself : Liz Perrone 724-444-0051

For questions concerning registration: Jessica Angelo 412-443-3848

Activities begin with flag ceremony daily at 9:00 am. Parents are responsible for drop-off and pick-up (3:00 pm) at the Unit Pavilions. (Extreme weather back up- Hampton High School Cafeteria- to be determined by Day Camp Committee)

Each unit is supervised by a trained adult Unit Leader, other adults, and trained Unit Aides (girls going into 8th grade & older). We require a trained Unit Leader for each unit, but we need many more adults to help with craft preparation, set-up, clean-up, equipment, food prep and delivery, and unit assistance with girls. Please sign up at registration night.

Activities are geared to Girl

Scout levels from Daisies to Cadettes and may include: flag ceremonies, nature study, crafts, hiking, songs, games, outdoor cooking, and badge work. Each camper will be assigned to a unit with girls her own age. (Your daughter will be mixed with some girls from her present troop as well as girls from other troops.) UNIT AIDES: Aides who have already been trained: $20 fee includes t-shirt Aides who have not yet been trained: $25 fee includes training, handbook, and t-shirt. Aides must have already completed 7th grade by Camp dates. Training involves two classes, both TBD. The 1st session is in April and the 2nd is usually in late May or early June. Please bring a 2” binder to the 1st class.

ADULT T-SHIRTS: T-shirts are mandatory for all Unit Leaders. * They are optional but recommended for on-site volunteers, and can be purchased for $8 Adults volunteering on site for all 3days will receive a free t-shirt

Summer Day Camp 2017 Parent Information *important changes from GSWPA included

Registration nights will be held at Hampton High School Cafeteria from

7pm-8:30 pm on Tuesday, March 14th and 21st.

GSWPA has changed the requirements for adult volunteers. ADULT REGISTRATION, along with obtaining PA CLEARANCES is now MANDATORY for all on-site volunteering at Day Camp!!! This is to ensure the safety of our scouts and is a common occurrence when working with children.

Please note: GSWPA will not allow any parent or adult on camp grounds if they don't have the necessary paperwork completed prior to camp.

Please complete the following prior to March 14 or March 21:

1. Please log into the Girls Scouts (www.gswpa.org)

2. Click on the “Be A Volunteer” link

3. Follow the directions provided to register.

Page 11: CENTRAL SCOOP - Hampton Township School District...2017/02/09  · crafts, cook and organize a unit run game for the final day of camp. Location: Hampton Community Park 3101 McCully

*There is a $15.00 fee to register. IF you sign up to work all three days of Day Camp to be a Unit Leader or Assistant Unit Leader, we will reimburse you the $15 or deduct the fee from your daughter’s Day Camp registration fee!

When you are finished registering through the site, GSWPA will then send you an email with the links to submit information for your Criminal Background Check (free), your Child Abuse Clearance (free), and your PA State Clearance Affidavit (free). If you've lived outside PA anytime in the past 10 years, you'll also need to complete a FBI Criminal Background Check ($27). Clearances are good for 3 years.

*If you are already a registered volunteer for GSWPA you do not need to register again. All we ask is for you to bring a copy of your clearances to registration night.

All adults are requested to donate some time/effort to assist with the day camp experience. Without your help, we will not be able to hold Day Camp. If you are not available to help, any adult (grandparents, aunts, babysitters, uncles, fathers) is welcome as long as they register through GSWPA!

As always, opportunities will be listed and available for sign up during registration nights. Come prepared with your summer schedules!

As overwhelming as this may seem, remember it is for the safety of the girls. Day Camp cannot happen without it’s

wonderful volunteers. We look forward to seeing you at registration and can’t wait for another amazing day camp!

Liz PerroneDay Camp Director724-444-0051-don’t hesitate to call with any questions or concerns you may have

Hampton Township School District Elementary Student Assistance Program

2016-2017

Every high school, middle school and select elementary schools in Pennsylvania have Student Assistance Programs (SAP). Hampton Township School District is pleased to offer the Elementary Student Assistance Program (ESAP) which is a comprehensive program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 that uses a team approach that addresses barriers to student learning. Barriers for learning could develop due to academic, behavioral, attendance and/or health concerns.

ESAP is a systematic process designed to provide education, early identification, intervention, referral, and support services for students and families in order to promote the highest levels of academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success. Each elementary school has an ESAP team comprised of trained professionals including, but not limited to, the principal, school nurse, school counselor and teachers. In addition, we at Hampton are fortunate to have a behavioral health liaison from the Maximizing Adolescent Potentials Program (MAPS) through the University of Pittsburgh to assist with the ESAP process.

Referrals for this program can be made by teachers, school staff, parents and peers. If you want to initiate a referral please contact your school counselor, Melissa Maley ([email protected]) or Amy Kinney ([email protected]) if you have concerns regarding barriers to your child’s success at school.

During our February meeting, we will be making fleece tie blankets,

in various sizes, for the kids at Children’s Hospital. We’re asking the Central Elementary School Community to send in

fleece blanket making kits or yards of fleece. The kits can be purchased at JoAnn Fabric, Michael’s or Walmart.

This is a service project led by Emily Ready, a junior at Hampton High School. We appreciate your generous support.
