14 UNITSThe Certificate IV in Dementia Practice consists of 14 units which cover a breadth of knowledge and skills to support quality care and service provision for people living with dementia.

Topics covered in detail include:

• Leadership and culture change;

• Communication and relationships;

• Understanding behaviour and ill-being;

• Meaningful engagement and intervention planning;

• Palliative care.

The cost of undertaking the qualification will be a fee of $2,500.

Course format

Participants will be required to attend a full day workshop approximately every three weeks for a period of twelve months.

The workshop will be an energising experience with experts from industry contributing as guest speakers.

Assessment

Participants will be assessed on written components and workplace projects.

CERTIFICATE IV IN DEMENTIA PRACTICE AN ACCREDITED QUALIFICATION IN DEMENTIA CARE EXCLUSIVE TO ALZHEIMER’S AUSTRALIA CERTIFICATE IV IN DEMENTIA PRACTICE (10341NAT).

Alzheimer’s Australia WA is now offering a Certificate IV qualification for staff supporting people with dementia.

The Certificate IV in Dementia Practice will provide participants with the ability to integrate current knowledge and apply enhanced skills for effective dementia care.

FOR HEALTH AND AGED CARE WORKERSThis qualification is applicable to experienced care workers, allied health workers, nurses and other health professionals who would like to enhance their career opportunities in supporting people with dementia.

Participants must be committed to promote:

• Quality of life and well-being of people with dementia;

• Partnerships between the care provider, the person with dementia and the family;

• The integration of current knowledge and applied skills to achieve effective dementia care.

Pathway for future leadership roles

This qualification can be a pathway for those wishing to pursue leadership roles and be innovative in their workplace.

Participants undertaking this qualification will develop dementia specialist knowledge and may be regarded as dementia champions within their organisation/workplace.
