    1. The information / particulars furnished by the candidates in their 'CET 2008' application form isFINAL.

    2. Before claiming eligibility for Government seats, make sure that you satisfy any one of theeligibility clauses detailed in Item 6 of Chapter I of the brochure. The candidates who do notsatisfy any of the eligibility clauses wil l not be eligible for admission to Government seats.

    3. If the information furnished by the candidates in the application form or any other documentssubmitted by the candidates / parents are found to be false / incorrect, such candidate's seat will becancelled at any point of time during his course of study and criminal proceedings will be initiatedby the Government against the candidate.

    4. The ward of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants are required to appear for the Common Entrance Test foradmission to professional courses for the seats earmarked for them by the Government. (Refer Item7(5) of Chapter I of the brochure.)

    5. Make sure that you have affixed ONLY your LEFT HAND THUMB IMPRESSION within the spaceprovided on the backside of the application form as shown at page 14.

    6. Before submitting the filled application form to the Principals / KEA, the candidates should take aphotocopy of the filled application form and should keep it with them for all future reference /correspondence.

    7. While submitting the filled application form, do not enclose any paper / certificate / marks card tothe filled application form.

    8. If you have studied TEN full academic years continuously from 1st to 10th standards in KannadaMedium, then you are eligible to claim reservation under Kannada Medium quota.

    9. Candidates who have submitted their filled application form to the concerned schools / collegeswithin Karnataka, will get their Admission Tickets through the respective schools / colleges. Thecandidates who have submitted their fil led application forms through 'Speed Post ' directly to KEAwill get their Admission Tickets by 'Speed Post' to the address furnished by them in theirapplication form.

    10. If any candidate fails to receive the admission ticket within the stipulated time, then he / she has tocontact the respective Principals of the institution / KEA office with a photocopy of the filledapplication form.

    1. The Common Entrance Test will be held for ONE DAY in three different sessions on 19-04-2008.(Read Item2 of Chapter I for detailed timetable and mode of conducting the test .)

    2. The candidates must appear for Common Entrance Test in PCB subjects for admission to Medical /Dental / Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy courses and PCM subjects for admission toEngineering / Technology Courses conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority. Foradmission to Architecture course candidates must appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test inArchitecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture. Visit KEA website for list of institutionsconducting NATA in Karnataka.

    3. The candidates should read the instructions printed on the OMR answer sheets before answering.

    The candidates have to mark the correct answers on the OMR answer sheets using BLUE OR

    BLACK INK BALL POINT PEN ONLY.

    4. After completion of each session of the test, the candidates must affix ONLY their LEFT HAND

    THUMB IMPRESSION in the space provided on the bottom portion of OMR answer sheet before

    handing over the same to the room invigilator.

    5. The candidates will be allowed to carry replica of the filled OMR answer sheet, after completion of

    each session of the test. Such replicas should be preserved for a period of one year.

    6. THERE WILL BE NO NEGATIVE EVALUATION IN RESPECT OF WRONG ANSWERS BUT MARKS

    WILL NOT BE AWARDED IN RESPECT OF THE MULTIPLE ANSWERS MADE BY CANDIDATESON THE OMR ANSWER SHEETS.

    1. The ANSWER KEY will be published within SEVEN days after the completion of the entrance test

    on the KEA website. The candidates / parents / lecturers, can file their objections, if any, within

    three days in respect of any of the published answer key, along with all the supporting documents

    & justification. Objections received by the KEA will be placed before an Expert Committee, whose

    decision will be final in thi s regard.

    2. The candidates who are claiming eligibility under special categories such as NCC, Sports,

    Anglo-Indian, Defence and Ex-Defence must submit their special category documents to the KEA

    office during office hours in person invariably on the dates notified against each Special category

    at Item 7 of Chapter I and Item 1 of Chapter III of the brochure. The candidates who do not submit

    the special category certificates on the notified dates will not be considered for document

    verification and also for seat selection under the respective special categories.

    3. The regular students (freshers) appearing for Karnataka 2nd PUC Annual 2008 need not submit the

    qualifying examination marks card to the KEA, as it will be obtained di rectly from the Department

    of PUE. However, repeater students of Karnataka 2nd PUC who have appeared / passed the

    examination during or before 2008 and the students of CBSE, CISCE, 10+2, other boards who have

    passed before 2008 or who are appearing 12th standard examination during 2008 must send a

    photocopy of their qualifying examination marks card (on which the CET Number is boldly

    written) either in person or only through 'Speed Post' to the KEA, Bangalore after completion of

    'CET 2008' on or before 10-05-2008. However, the candidates who submit photocopy of their

    Q. E. marks cards after 10-05-2008, will get their ranks before the commencement of the seat

    selection process / whenever they submit the Q. E. marks card.

    4. The rank list for Medical and Dental courses will be prepared and published only on the basis ofmarks secured by candidates in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test. The candidates who

    secure 50% of marks (GM) in PCB subjects in the qualifying examination and also in the Common

    Entrance Test will only be eligible for assignment of Medical / Dental ranks. However, the marks in

    PCB subjects in both Q. E. and CET will be 40% in case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, CAT - 1,

    2A, 2B, 3A & 3B categories. Further, the candidates (GM) who secure less than 50% of marks taken

    together in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test and less than 40% in case of SC, ST, CAT - 1,

    2A, 2B, 3A & 3B categories, will not be awarded any rank for admission to Medical / Dental

    courses.

    5. The rank list for Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy courses will be published only in

    respect of candidates (GM) who secure 50% of marks taken together in PCB subjects in the

    qualifying examination. 40% in case of SC, ST, CAT -1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B category candidates

    irrespective of marks secured in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test.

    6. The rank list for Engineering & Technology courses will be published only in respect of candidates

    (GM) who secure 45% of marks taken together in the optional subjects in the qualifying

    examination, 40% in case of SC, ST, CAT -1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B category candidates irrespective of

    marks secured in PCM subjects in the Common Entrance Test.

    7. The rank list for Architecture course will be published only in respect of candidates who have

    studied Mathematics as one of the optional subjects and secured an aggregate minimum of 50%marks (GM) in the Qualifying examination and 40% marks in NATA. 45% in qualifying

    examination and 35% marks in NATA in case of SC, ST, CAT -1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B category

    candidates. The candidate who wants to select only Architecture seat need not to appear for

    Common Entrance Test.

    8. The candidates are requested to verify their qualifying examination marks printed on the result

    sheets without fail, if there is any discrepancy with reference to qualifying examination marks, the

    same should be brought to the notice of this of fice immediately for fresh assignment of ranks, if any.

    9. If the qualifying examination marks of the candidates get changed due to revaluation or re-totaling

    then the candidates are required to submit a copy of the changed marks card to the KEA for

    assignment of revised / new rank and also for seat selection.

    10. The seat selection in respect of Physically Disabled, NCC and Sports special category candidates

    will be held separately for Medical / Dental, I. S. M. & Homoeopathy and Engineering / Technologycourses. The other Special category candidates such as Defence, Ex-Defence, Scouts & Guides

    and Anglo-Indian will be allowed to select the respective special category seats along with the

    general merit candidates in the order of merit when their turn comes in the general admission

    round. (Refer Appendix- VII for details.)

    11. All the candidates (GM, SC, ST Category I and OBC category candidates) must compulsorily

    produce the STUDY CERTIFICATE obtained from the head of the insti tution where the candidate

    has passed the 10th standard / SSLC examination, by mentioning the Standards, Academic years,

    Caste and Mother Tongue as per the admission register of the institution. (Refer Appendix- V for

    study certificate proforma.) However, the General Merit candidates need not mention their CASTE

    in their study certificates.

    12. Candidates belonging to reserved categories should submit caste / income certificate as the case

    may be issued by the Tahasildar in Form 'D' for SC, ST, in Form 'E' for Category-I and in Form 'F' for2A, 2B, 3A and 3B categories.

    13. The candidates who had obtained a seat in the previous years in any discipline through the KEA

    (CET Cell), will not be eligible for selection of a seat in the same discipline during this year. Such

    candidates who select seats in the other discipline will forfeit the seat already selected during

    previous years.

    KEA will publish on its website i.e., http://kea.kar.nic.in all the details of candidates who have

    selected seats under reserved category in Medical, Dental, ISM & H, Engineering and Architecture

    courses, such as candidate's name, father's name, category under which seat selected, annual

    income of the parent etc., after the casual vacancy round.

    The candidates who claim seat under rural category will have to obtain a rural study certificate

    from the respective school / high school issued by the head of the institution which should be

    countersigned by concerned Block Educational Officer (BEO) as per format shown at page 49.

    General merit candidates who claim seat in rural category should also submit an incomecertificate issued from the concerned Tahasildar along with the rural study certificate, as per format

    shown at page 49.

    The candidates who have studied in the areas mentioned in Appendix III are not eligible to claim

    rural category seat. However, if the place where the candidate had studied from 1st to 10th

    standard had been declared as a rural area at the t ime of his / her studies, he / she will be eligible

    under rural quota, even though the same place has been declared as urban area later.

    The NCC and Sports Special category candidates have to obtain a certificate from the head of

    the institution where they have studied from 8th to 12th standard, for having participated in the

    NCC / Sports events and should compulsorily produce the same along with their NCC / Sports

    certificates to the KEA office on the notified dates. Otherwise, they will not be eligible for selection

    of seats under the respective special categories.

    The Government of Karnataka established Common Entrance Test Cell in the year 1994 for

    conducting of Entrance Test and to determine the merits of the candidates for admission to

    Professional courses such as Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine & Homoeopathy,Engineering / Technology & Architecture courses.

    To expand the activities of the CET Cell, the Government by order No. ED. 212 TEC 2006 dated

    20-12-2006 has converted the Common Entrance Test Cell in to an autonomous body Registered

    under Societies Registration Act 1960 called Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).

    The Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2008 is being conducted for the purpose of determining theeligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants tothe First year or First semester of full time courses in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy,Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology courses and NATA (National Aptitude Test inArchitecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture for Architecture course, in Government /University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided professional educational institutions in the state ofKarnataka for the academic year 2008-09.

    Admissions to the Government seats shall be made in accordance with theKarnataka Selection ofCandidates for Admission to Government Seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules,2006 (in short 'Rules') as amended from time to time and therefore the details and instructionscontained in this Brochure are subject to the said Rules. In case of any discrepancy, the Rules shallprevail.

    In order to obtain admission to any of the professional courses through KEA, a candidate must appearfor the Common Entrance Test, which will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority,Bangalore (Herein after referred to as KEA). The Common Entrance Test 2008 will be conducted at 42places, spread over Karnataka (See Appendix - I for details). Candidates who have studied theQualifying Examination within Karnataka should write 'CET 2008' in a test centre assigned by the KEAwithin the district in which the candidate has studied 2nd PUC or 12th standard.

    Based on the performance of the candidates in the Common Entrance Test and the QualifyingExamination, as the case may be, the merit / rank list will be prepared and published.     a) For Medical / Dental courses:A candidate who has passed the second year Pre-University or 12thstandard or equivalent examination (herein after referred to as the qualifying examination orQ.     Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects inthe Common Entrance Test, the Medical / Dental rank list will be prepared and published foradmission to Medical and Dental courses.

    b) For Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy courses: A candidate who has passed theQ. E. with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languagesof study and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biologysubjects in the Q. E. is eligible for admission to Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy& Yoga courses. 40% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST, CategoryI and OBC Category candidates.

    Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects inboth Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination by taking the marks in equalproportions, the ISM and H rank list will be prepared and published separately foradmission to Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses.

    Further, the candidates seeking admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani /Naturopathy & Yoga courses, should have completed the age of seventeen years as on31st December of 2008.

    c) For Engineering / Technology courses: A candidate who has passed the Q. E. with Physics andMathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science /Biology / Electronics as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtainedan aggregate minimum of 45% marks in the optional subjects in the Q. E. is eligible for Engineeringand Technology courses. 40% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC Categorycandidates. Provided that, the marks obtained by candidate in Bio-Technology / Computer Science /Biology / Electronics in the Q. E., will be considered in place of Chemistry, only for the purpose ofdetermination of eligibility and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in case the marksobtained in Chemistry is less for required aggregate percentage.

    Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematicssubjects in both Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination by taking the marksin equal proportions, the Engineering rank list will be prepared and published.

    d) For Architecture course: A candidate who has passed the Q. E. with Mathematics as one of theoptional subjects and secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in all subjects in Q. E is eli giblefor admission to Architecturecourse. 45% of marks in case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC Categorycandidates. Provided that, a candidate should also appear and secure a minimum of 40% marks inNATA (NATIONAL APTITUDE TEST IN ARCHITECTURE) conducted by the Council of Architecture.35% of marks in case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC category candidates. The candidates shouldsubmit the NATA SCORE CARD by mentioning the CET number on or before 26-04-2008 to KEAeither in person or through 'Speed Post'.

    Based on the performance of the candidates in both Qualifying Examination and NATA, bytaking the marks in equal proportions the Architecture rank list will be prepared andpublished.

    NOTE: Candidates who do not pass in all the subjects in the qualifying examination andcandidates who do not possess the academic eligibility detailed above for variousprofessional courses, will not be eligible for selection of seats in the respective courses.

    WHAT IS NATA ?'National Aptitude Test in Architecture' or NATA is an All India level entrance examination conducted by the Council ofArchitecture for 200 marks, for admission of candidates to First year of five-year full time B. Arch. Degree course.

    The Architecture seats in Government, Aided and Un-aided institutions of the State are offered ONLY to the candidateswho have appeared for NATA and who have obtained the prescribed minimum marks in both qualifying examination andNATA. Therefore, all the candidates who want to select Architecture seats for the academic year 2008-09, shouldcompulsorily appear for NATA, and should obtain a minimum of 40% marks in NATA. (35% in case of SC, ST and OBCcandidates.) Visit KEA website for LIST OF INSTITUTIONS CONDUCTING NATA (NATIONAL APTITUDE TEST INARCHITECTURE) IN KARNATAKA. The interested candidates can appear for the NATA, any day before 23-04-2008.Such candidates should obtain and submit their NATA scores (by boldly writing their CET Number on the NATA score card)to the KEA either in person or only through 'Speed Post'on or before 26-04-2008.

    The SC, ST, Category-I, OBC eligibility criteria is applicable to persons of Karnataka origin who areclaiming eligibility for Government seats under clauses (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k) and (l) and the same isnot applicable to clauses (c), (d), (e), (g), (i) and (m) of Item - 6 of Chapter I.

    Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying examination with requisite marks but also acandidate who is appearing for the Q.E. and expecting the results is eligible to apply for the CommonEntrance Test 2008.

    Students appearing for Karnataka 2nd PUC Annual 2008 need not submit their Q. E. marks cardto the KEA, as it will be obtained directly from the Department of PUE. However, all otherstudents who have passed 12th standard examination such as CBSE, CISCE, 10+2, from otherboards (including J & K) and repeater students of 2nd PUC and who have already passed before2008 or who have appeared for annual 2008 must COMPULSORILY send a photocopy of their2nd PUC / 12th standard marks card (on which the CET Number is boldly written) either inperson or only through 'Speed Post' to the KEA, Bangalore, after completion of 'CET 2008' onor before 10-05-2008. Otherwise, the results of such candidates will be with-held for want ofQ. E. Marks. However, intermediary ranks / Spot ranks will be assigned in respect of with-heldcandidates only after submission of photocopy of the Q. E. marks card. See box at Page 31about intermediary ranks / Spot ranks / ranks ending with G55, etc.

    After the publication of the 'CET 2008' results, the candidates whose Q. E. marks are changed due torevaluation / retotalling, should immediately produce the revised marks card / statement of marksobtained from the Department of PUE in person only, to the KEA for getting the new ranks, if any.

    NOTE: 1. The candidates are requested to verify their qualifying examination marks printed onthe result sheets without fail, if there is any discrepancy with reference to qualifyingexamination marks the same should be brought to the notice of this office immediately forassignment of fresh ranks.

    2. The moment a new rank is assigned to candidates due to variation in Q. E. marks (whetherincrease or decrease), the previous rank of such candidates will stand cancelled and thecandidates will not have any claim either on the previous rank or on the seat selected on thebasis of previous rank, if any. Such candidates should select seats only as per their new ranksfrom among the seats available at that moment.

    The application form, which is common to all the candidates with regard to admission to p rofessionalcourses through KEA, is kept in this brochure. The candidates should fill the application form legiblyusing a BLUE or BLACK INK BALL POINT PEN in capital letters only. Before filling the originalapplication form, the candidates are advised to take two or three photocopies of the originalapplication form and practice on them in the prescribed manner.

    PLEASE NOTE: The filled application form submitted by the candidates will be scanned as it is. Thedetails of the application form will be the candidate's data for all further processing in the KEAcomputers. Therefore, the candidates are advised not to make any stray marks on the application formand not to enclose any documents / papers in support of their claims to the filled application form.

    IMPORTANT: IF ANY OF THE INFORMATION FURNISHED IN THE APPLICATION FORM ISFOUND TO BE FALSE / INCORRECT, THE APPLICATION IS LIABLE TO BE REJECTED AT ANY POINTOF TIME and the seat selected by the candidate, if any, is also liable to be cancelled at any stage and theentire fee amount paid by such candidate will be forfeited.

    NOTE: The candidates who have obtained a seat in the previous years in any discipline throughKEA (CET Cell) will not be eligible to select a seat in the same discipline during this year.     All the candidates should preserve a photocopy of their filled application form,before submitting the same to the respective Principals / KEA.

    The candidates who have received the brochure cum application forms through their schools or

    colleges should submit their filled applications to the respective schools or colleges. The Principals of

    all the schools and colleges in Karnataka teaching PUC or 12th standard including CBSE & CISCE, have

    been requested to collect the filled application forms from the students of their respective institutions,

    verify whether the candidates have written their correct PU College Code, PU Student number, etc.

    along with proper affixation of the candidates LEFT HAND THUMB IMPRESSION and also to forward

    the filled application forms to the KEA. The last date for submission of filled application forms to the

    concerned Principals will be 13-02-2008. Candidates who have submitted their filled applications

    through the schools and colleges should collect their Admission Tickets from the respective schools

    and colleges on or after 05-04-2008 and the candidates who fail to get their admission ticket, shouldimmediately contact their respective Principals with the photocopy of their fi lled application form.

    The Karnataka candidates residing outside Karnataka (Horanadu, Gadinadu and other Karnataka

    candidates) who have received their brochure cum application form through 'Speed Post' should send

    the filled application forms by 'Speed Post' only directly to KEA on or before 18-02-2008 and such

    candidates will get their admission tickets to their home addresses as furnished by them in their

    application forms, by 'Speed Post' on or after 05-04-2008.

    All the candidates who have submitted their filled application forms by 'Speed Post' directly to

    KEA, who fail to get the admission ticket well within the notif ied date should immediately contact the

    Executive Director, KEA, along with a photocopy of their filled application form and the 'Speed Post'

    acknowledgement for having sent the application form to KEA. Otherwise, admission t ickets will not be

    issued to such candidates and they will not be allowed to write the test.

    NOTE: In order to avoid any complications, the candidates who are sending the filled application formdirectly to KEA are advised to write their complete postal address clearly (legibly) in their application

    forms and should send their filled application forms individually, through 'Speed Post' only and not in

    person or by any other mode such as Ordinary Post / Registered Post / Private Courier.

    The examination center for writing 'CET 2008' in respect of all the candidates will be assigned on

    random basis by the KEA Computers. The candidates who have studied their Q. E. within Karnataka

    should write the 'CET 2008' in a place within the di strict in which they have studied 2nd PUC or 12th

    standard. If the 'CET 2008' exam centers are located in more than one place in a district, the candidate

    can choose any one of the places.

    For example : If the candidates have studied their 2nd PUC / 12th standard in 'Mysore or any

    place in the Mysore district', then they have to write CET only in 'MYSORE'. If they have

    studied in 'Hospet', then they can write CET either in 'HOSPET' or in 'BELLARY'.

    The Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates claiming eligibility under clauses 'c' and 'd' of Item

    6 of Chapter I respectively, will have to undergo a Kannada language test, which will be held on

    20-04-2008 at 11.00 a. m. for Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates and at 1.00 p.m. on the same day for

    Horanadu Kannadiga candidates in the premises of KEA, Bangalore. Therefore, the Horanadu &

    Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates will have to appear for the 'CET 2008' in an exam centre located at

    BANGALORE only.

    CODESELIGIBILITY CLAUSES

    cThe candidate and either of his / her parent's mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu or Kodava and eitherof parent's was domiciled in the state of Karnataka, such candidate should have passed the qualifyingexamination from a University or Board or any other Institution located outside Karnataka and should beresiding outside the State of Karnataka as on 1st July of 2008. Provided that the candidate shall undergo aKannada Language test conducted by KEA.

    Documents to be produced: SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card

    of the candidate along with(1) a domicile certificate issued by the concerned Revenue or Municipal Authorities certifying that the candidateand his parents have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on 01-07-2008. The place of the Issuing authorityshould correspond to the place of domicile of the candidate / father / mother. (2) a domicile certificate issued byconcerned Revenue Authorities of the state of Karnataka regarding the previous domicile of the father / mother ofthe candidate as a place in the state of Karnataka. The place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the placeof domicile of the father / mother.(3) Candidate's Study certificate, Transfer Certificate.     Candidates who satisfy one o f the following Clauses / Eligibility Criteria ONLY are eligible for selectionof Government seats in Government, Aided, Private Un-aided Minority / Non-minority institutionsthrough KEA. Each condition is specified as a clause and is individually referred by a code. Thedocuments to be produced during seat selection process in support of the claim for each of the Clausesare also detailed below the respective clauses. The candidates who do not satisfy any of the Clauses /Eligibility Criteria detailed below and the candidates who do not produce the prescribed documents inoriginal will not be eligible for admission to professional courses under Government seats.

    The candidate should have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognisededucational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN academic yearscommencing from 1st standard to 2nd PUC / 12th standard as on 1st July of the year in which the EntranceTest is held and must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standardexamination from Karnataka State.In case of the candidate who had taken more than one year to pass a class or standard, the years of academicstudy is counted as one year only.

    eIn the case of a candidate who is son or daughter of defence personnel who has worked continuously inKarnataka for a minimum period of one year between 1st July of 2007 to 30th June of 2008. The candidateshould have studied and passed the qualifying examination from any Government or Governmentrecognised educational institution located in the State of Karnataka.

    fSon or daughter of serving Defence personnel from Karnataka who at the time of joining the Defenceservice had declared his / her hometown a place in the State of Karnataka. Proof of such domicile should beobtained and produced by obtaining the extract from the Record Office of the Defence unit. Further, thecandidate should have passed the Q. E. from a University or Board or any other institution locatedanywhere in India.

    Documents to be produced: SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Cardof the candidate; If claiming reservation benefits :- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar as per theprescribed format given in the brochure along with parent's home town declaration certificate while joining theservice issued by Record Office of the Defence unit, as per the format given inApendix-V.

    gIn the case of a candidate who is a son or daughter of a defence personnel who had served in Karnataka forat least one year and is posted on duty in Field / Active Service and whose family is permitted by DefenceAuthorities to continue to stay in Karnataka. Such candidate should have studied and passed the qualifyingexamination from any Government or Government recognised educational institution located inKarnataka.

    lSon or daughter of serving or retired employee:(a) belonging to All India Service of Karnataka cadre; and(b) of the Karnataka State Government,who has served or is serving outside the State of Karnataka during the period corresponding toCandidate's study outside the State from 1st standard to 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination can beadded to make up the seven years study within Karnataka as required under clause (a) above.

    Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card ofthe candidate ; If claiming reservation benefits :- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- ForSC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form F, along with - a certificate from thePrincipal Secretary / Deputy Secretary / Under Secretary, DPAR, Government of Karnataka, Bangalorewhere the parent belongs to All India Service of Karnataka cadre stating that the parent is a member of such

    All India Cadre. The certificate should also indicate the period during which he has served or is servingoutside the state of Karnataka and if the parent is a State Government Employee, a certificate from theconcerned Head of the Department or the Head of the Office where such parent is employed should beproduced in this regard.

    mSon or daughter of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants, proof of such migration (IDENTITY CARD) should beobtained and produced from the jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of anystate in India.

    Documents to be produced : SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Cardof the candidate along with a original certificate (IDENTITY CARD) issued by the Jurisdictional DistrictMagistrate and Deputy Commissioner of any state in India, as the proof of migration. The candidates whoare claiming eligibility under clause 'm' are eligible only for the seats earmarked by theGovernment.

    (1) RESERVATION OF SEATS IN FAVOUR OF SPECIAL CATEGORY CANDIDATES

    (a)Reservation for N. C. C. Special category :-

    (ii) Candidates who have participated in the following camps conducted by the

    Directorate General of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess

    'B' Certificate obtained during the five-year period of s tudy in Karnataka between

    8th and 12th standards namely;

    (a) All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys) - TSC (B) ; (b) All India Thal Sainik

    Camp (Girls) - TSC (G) ; (c) All India Nau Sainik Camp - NSC ; (d) All India

    of DG NCC team to participate in All India Movalankar Shooting

    Championship at National Level AND Youth Exchange Programmes and

    (iii) Candidates who have participated in the following camps conducted by the Directorate General ofNCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess 'B' Certificate obtained during the five-yearperiod of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards namely;

    (a) All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys) - TSC (B); (b) All India Thal Sainik Camp (Girls) - TSC(G) ; (c) All India Nau Sainik Camp - NSC ; (d) All India Vayu Sainik Camp VSC; (e) Cadetsparticipate in All India Movalankar Shooting Championship as a part of KAR and GOADirectorate Team AND in complete - Mountaineering Expeditions (over 5900 Mtrs), SailingExpeditions using wind power only (401 KMs), Motor Cycle Expeditions (more than 3500KMs) and Cycling Expeditions (more than 1500 KMs) , organised by DG, NCC / NCCDirectorate of Karnataka & Goa.

    (iv) Candidates who have participated in the following camps / courses conducted by the DirectorateGeneral of NCC, New Delhi from Karnataka and who possess 'B' Certificate obtained during thefive-year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards namely: (a) NIC ;(b) Trekking ; (c) Mountaineering ; (d) BLC ; (e) ALC ; (f) RCTC and (g) Army, Navy, Air Force& Hospital Attachments.

    (v) Candidates who possess B certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnatakabetween 8th and 12th Standards.

    Provided that for selection of a reserved seat under NCC category, the preferential criteria are asfollows:

    Preference 1: Candidates possessing 'B' Certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold /Silver / Bronze medal in the Republic Day camp.

    Preference 2: Candidates possessing B' certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold /Silver / Bronze medal in camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub-clause (ii) above.

    Preference 3: 'B' certificate holders who have participated in the Youth Exchange Programmes andForeign Naval Cruise organised by DG, NCC.

    Preference 4: 'B' certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the Republic Day camp.

    Preference 5: 'B' Certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the camps mentioned at (a)

    to (e) of sub-clause (iii) above.Preference 6: 'B' Certificate holders who have participated in the mountaineering / sailing / motor cycle /

    cycling expeditions organized by DG NCC / NCC Directorate of KAR and GOA.

    Preference 7: 'B' Certificate holders who have participated in the camps mentioned at sub clause (iv) paraabove.

    Preference 8: Candidates possessing ONLY 'B' Certificate. (NCC candidates possessing only 'B' certificate(PREFERENCE-8) need not submit their original 'B' certificate on the notified date i.e.,on 22-04-2008. However, they will be eligible to select the NCC special category seats, ifany, in the general round seat selection as per their merit order, upon production of NCC'B' certificate)

    Provided that while considering the candidates mentioned in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) above, gold medalwinners will be preferred to silver medallist who in turn will be preferred to bronze medallist under therespective sub-clauses.

    Provided further that the Director of NCC or his authorised nominee shall be present in the KEA on theappointed days (03-06-2008 and 04-06-2008) along with the list of eligible NCC candidates in the orderof preference i.e. 1 to 7 to assist in the selection of candidates under NCC special category.

    NOTE : 1. Candidates who claim under PREFERENCES from 1 to 7 above should compulsorily submit theirNCC certificates on 22-04-2008, failing which they will not be allowed for verification ofcertificates and also for the later seat selection under NCC. Further, the NCC candidatespossessing only 'B' certificate (PREFERENCE-8) need not submit their original 'B' certificate on thenotified date i.e., on 22-04-2008. However, they will be eligible to select the NCC specialcategory seats, if any, in the general round seat selection as per their merit order, upon productionof NCC 'B' certificate.

    2. Candidates should also submit a letter obtained from the head of the institution from where he /she has participated in various NCC camps during the study between 8th and 12th standards, asper the format given in APPENDIX V.

    (b)Reservation for Sports Special category:-

    (i) Candidates who have represented the country and won medals / cups in SUPER-AGames specified in APPENDIX - IV during the five-year period of study in

    Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards;

    (ii) Candidates who have represented the country and won medals / cups in 'A Games'

    specified in APPENDIX - IV during the five-year period of study in Karnatakabetween 8th and 12th standards;

    (iii) Candidates who have won medals / cups in 'B-Games' specified in APPENDIX-IVby representing Karnataka State and participated in the SUPER-A Games or

    A-Games specified in APPENDIX - IV during the five-year period of study in

    Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards;

    (iv) Candidates who have represented Karnataka State in 'B-Games' specified inAPPENDIX - IV and won medals / cups during the five year period of study in

    Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards;

    (v) Candidates who have represented Karnataka State in any sports / games in

    'B-Games' specified in APPENDIX - IV during the five-year period of study inKarnataka between 8th and 12th standards.

    Provided that for selection of a reserved seat in Sports category, the candidates who belongto sub-clause (i) shall be considered first; candidates who belong to sub-clause (ii) shall beconsidered second; candidates who belong to sub-clause (iii) shall be considered thirdand

    candidates who belong to sub-clause (iv) shall be considered fourth before considering thecandidates belonging to sub-clause (v).

    Provided further that, while considering the candidates mentioned in sub-clauses (i), (ii), (iii)and (iv), gold medal winners will be preferred to silver medallist's who in turn will be

    preferred to bronze medallist's under the respective sub-clauses, irrespective of the numberof medals.

    Provided further that the candidates belonging to sub-clause (v) i. e., only who haverepresented the Karnataka State shall be eligible to select the Sports special category seats, if

    any, only in the general round of seat selection process as per their merit order. Further, theyneed not attend the Sports Special category seat selection on 06-06-2008.

    Provided also that the Commissioner for Youth Services and Sports or his authorisednominee shall be present in the KEA on the appointed days (05-06-2008 and 06-06-2008)along with the list of eligible candidates to assist in the selection of candidates under Sports

    category.

    NOTE :1. Candidates who claim seats under SPORTS Special category shouldcompulsorily submit their SPORTS certificates on 23-04-2008 includingNational Participants i.e., (1) (b) (v) above, failing which they will not be

    allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later seat selectionunder SPORTS.

    2.Candidates should also submit a letter obtained from the head of theinstitution from where he / she has participated in various SPORT events

    during the study from 8th to 12th standards, as per the format given inAPPENDIX V.

    Candidates belonging to Scouts & Guides, Defence, Ex-defence and Anglo-Indian i. e.,sub-clauses (c), (d), (e) and (g) below, will be allowed to select the respective specialcategory seats as per their merit order ONLY in the general admission round seatselection process along with the other general merit and reserved category candidates.

    (c)Reservation for Scouts and Guides Special category:- Candidates who as Scouts/ Guides have received the President's Award during five year period of study inKarnataka between 8th and 12th standards. Provided that the candidates shallsubmit the Original President's Award (RASHTRAPATI Certificate) ONLY onthe day of general round of seat selection process as per their merit order. TheProvisional Scouts / Guides Certificates will not be considered.

    (d)Reservation for Defence Special category:- Son or daughter of Defence

    Personnel falling under Clauses (e), (f) and (g) of Item 6 of Chapter - I of the Brochureshould obtain and submit the Defence certificates in the prescribed format as givenin Appendix-V on 24-04-2008, failing which they will not be allowed forverification of certificates and also for the later seat selection under Defence.

    Defence personnel for the purpose of these clauses means a person in DefenceService including Personnel belonging to Civil GT COYS ASC who were CivilianClass 'III' or Class 'IV' Government servants and 'Border Roads OrganisationalPersonnel'. (Vide Notification No. ED 189 TGL 94 Bangalore dated 29-07-1994).

    (a) Candidates claiming eligibility under Clause (e) of Item 6 of Chapter I of thisbrochure should produce the certificate of employment issued by theControlling Office in the prescribed format as given in Appendix -V where theparent is working, Indicating the period during which the parent has worked inKarnataka.

    (b) Candidates claiming eligibility under Clause (f) of Item 6 of Chapter I of thisbrochure should produce a certificate from the Record Office of the DefenceUnit in the prescribed format as given in Appendix -V indicating that the parenthad declared a place in Karnataka as his hometown at the time of joining theservice.

    (c) Candidates claiming eligibility under Clause (g) of Item 6 of Chapter I of thisbrochure should produce a certificate from the Controlling Office in theprescribed format as given in Appendix -V indicating the period during whichthe parent has worked in Karnataka, the present place of posting and also the factthat his family is permitted to stay in Karnataka.

    NOTE : The candidates claiming eligibility under the sub-clauses (a) and (c) above,should also produce the study certificate issued by the head of the educationalinstitution for having studied and passed qualifying examination in the State ofKarnataka, when they come for seat selection process.

    (e)Reservation for Ex-Defence Special category:- Son or daughter of Ex-Servicemenfalling under Item 6 (h) of Chapter - I of the Brochure should obtain and produce acertificate showing the home address of the parent issued by the Joint Director /Deputy Director of the concerned district and countersigned by the Director,Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore on 25-04-2008, failingwhich they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the laterseat selection under Ex-Defence.

    Ex-Servicemen for the purpose of this clause includes personnel belonging to theCivil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class III or Class IV Government Servants,who became permanently disabled or were killed during hostilities.

    (f) Reservation for Physically Disabled Special category:- The candidatesclaiming reservation under this category will be required to appear for Medicalexamination on 02-06-2008 before a Committee comprising of the ExecutiveDirector, KEA as Chairman and three specialists from the Department ofOrthopaedics, Ophthalmology and ENT, nominated by the Government. Candidateswith physical disability ranging above 40% should produce a Medical certificateissued by competent Doctor of any Government Hospital located in the State ofKarnataka in the field of concerned disability, only on the day of Medicalexamination i.e., on 02-06-2008. Candidates suffering from hearing disabilityshould compulsorily obtain and produce a BSER (Brain Stem Evoked Response)Audiometry report from NIMHANS / Manipal Hospital / Government Speech andHearing Institute, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore. The Medical Board shall examine thecandidate and certificate and certify regarding the percentage of disability and thedecision of the Medical Board will be final. For the purpose of this proviso, personswith disability shall have the same meaning assigned to it, in the Persons withDisabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Participation) Act 1995(Central Act 1 / 1995). The candidates with disability less than 40% will not beeligible for claiming a seat under Physically Disabled category. The seatselection for candidates with physical disability will alsobe held on 02-06-2008.

    NOTE: The Physically Disabled candidates, who fail to appear before theCommittee for Medical examination on 02-06-2008, will not be eligible forselection of a seat under Physically Disabled category.

    (g)Reservation for Anglo-Indian Special category:- Candidates from Anglo-IndianCommunity should produce a certificate on 25-04-2008 issued by the Registered

    Association of the Anglo Indian Community in the State of Karnataka countersignedby the Anglo-Indian MLA Nominated by the Government, failing which they will notbe allowed for the later seat selection under Anglo-Indian.

    IMPORTANT : The Special category candidates who satisfy Clause (a) of Item 6 ofChapter - I of the brochure, wil l also be eligible for claiming a seat underthe respective Special categories.

    NOTE : 1. Candidates belonging to Scouts & Guides, Defence, Ex-defence andAnglo-Indian i. e., sub-clauses (c), (d) , (e) and (g) above, will be allowed toselect the respective special category seats as per their merit order ONLYin the general admission round seat selection process along with the othergeneral merit and reserved category candidates.

    2. Candidates who are having only 'B' certificate under NCC will be eligibleto select the NCC special category seats, if any, in the general round of seatselection along with the other General Merit and reserved category

    candidates as per their merit order.3. Candidates who have only represented the Karnataka State in 'B GAMES'

    under Sports, will be eligible to select the Sports special category seats, ifany, in the general round of seat selection along with the other GeneralMerit and reserved category candidates as per their merit order.

    4. Achievements made by the NCC / Sports special category candidates inthe events / games, till the date of CET 2008 will be considered forselection of seats in the respective categories.

    The question papers of the Common Entrance Test will be mostly based on the First and Second PUCsyllabi prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.

    The Common Entrance Test will be held for only ONE DAY on 19th of April 2008 in three differentsessions for four subjects i.e., Physics and Chemistry in a combined paper in the First session for 120

    marks (60 each for Physics and Chemistry) with 150 minutes duration between 10.00 a.m. and12.30 p.m., Mathematics in the Second session for 60 marks with 80 minutes duration between2.00 p.m. and 3.20 p.m. and Biology in the Third session for 60 marks with 80 minutes durationbetween 4.00 p.m. and 5.20 p.m. The Combined question paper of Physics and Chemistrysubjects will have 120 questions. Out of which, the first 60 questions i.e., from questionnumber 1 to 60 will be from Physics and the next 60 questions i.e., from question number 61 to120 will be from Chemistry. Further, the candidates will be required to mark their answers forPhysics and Chemistry subjects on a common OMR answer sheet. However, Mathematics andBiology subjects will have separate question papers and separate OMR answer sheets.

    Each question paper will be of(Objective) Multiple Choice type. The question paper in each subjectwill be in 16 different versions and each question will have four different options. Each questionwill carry ONE mark. The candidate is expected to attempt all the questions, in order to obtainmaximum marks. In other words, there is no choice among questions.THERE WILL BE NONEGATIVE EVALUATION WITH REGARD TO WRONG ANSWERS BUT MARKS WILL NOT BE

    AWARDED IN RESPECT OF MULTIPLE ANSWERS. The version code of the question paper will beboldly printed on facing sheet of the quest ion paper. The version codes used in each paper will be fromA - 1 to A - 4, B - 1 to B - 4, C - 1 to C - 4 and D - 1 to D - 4. The version code of the question papersgiven to a student may be different OR may be the same for different sessions.

    COMPULSORY:In all the three sessions, ini tial TEN minutes will be given for the candidates to write /shade the particulars such as Name, CET Number, Version Code and Serial number of the questionbooklet on the OMR answer sheets in the boxes provided. The candidates who do not write / shadethe correct CET Number and Version Code on the OMR answer sheets, such candidates OMRanswer sheets will not be scanned and will not be assigned any rank.

    The candidates will have to mark correct options on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) answer sheet,which will be supplied at the beginning of each session of the test. Among the answers providedagainst a question, only one answer will be correct. The candidate should mark the correctanswer by completely shading only one circle against a question number, using BLUE orBLACK ink ball point pen. Specimens of the OMR answer sheets are given in Pages 27& 28 of thebrochure. More details about precautions to be taken while filling the particulars on OMR answersheets is given at Page 29.

    The OMR answer sheet comprises of two sheets. The top sheet will be used for the purpose of markingcorrect answers and later scanning & evaluation and the bottom sheet will be returned to thecandidates after completion of each session of the test. The bottom sheet is coated with a specialkind of chemical which acts as Carbon. When the candidate fills the circles on the top sheet,the pressure on the bottom sheet will automatically create a replica of the top sheet.

    (2) RESERVATION FOR RESERVED CATEGORY CANDIDATES

    Reservation is made in favour of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribesand Other Backward Classes of citizens under categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in accordance withGovernment Order No. SWL 251 BCA 94 dated 31st January 1995, as amended from time to time.

    Production of a Caste Certificate / Caste Income Certificate issued by the concernedJurisdictional Tahasildar in accordance with the Government order No. Sa Ka E 225 BCA 2002dated 30th March 2002, as amended from time to time, in Form 'D' in case of Scheduled Castes &Scheduled Tribes ; in Form 'E' in case of Category-I ; in Form 'F' in case of Other Backward Classeslike 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in support of the claim is mandatory for selecting a seat under reservedcategory.

    Provided that candidates belonging to SC, ST & Category - I should produce an Income

    certificate issued by Jurisdictional Tahasildar in the prescribed format given at APPENDIX - V.(This is for the purpose of processing eligibility of candidates to claim Government of Indiascholarship).

    Provided further that only candidates of Karnataka origin and who are claiming eligibilityfor Government seats in accordance with clause (a), (b), (f), (h), (j) , (k) and (l) of Item - 6 ofChapter - 1 shall be eligible to claim the benefit of reservation under this sub-rule. Thecandidates claiming eligibility for Government seats under clauses (c), (d), (e), (g), (i) and(m) are not eligible to claim the benefit of reservation.

    (3) RESERVATION FOR RURAL CANDIDATES

    15% of the Government seats will be reserved horizontally in favour of rural candidates who havestudied for 10 full academic years from 1st Standard to 10th Standard in educational institutionssituated in places in the State of Karnataka other than larger urban area, smaller urban area ortransitional area as mentioned in Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 or Karnataka MunicipalCorporations Act, 1976 in accordance with the Government Order No. ED 01 TEC 2002,

    Bangalore, dated 01-02-2002 and the eligibility criteria shall be as defined in the KarnatakaReservation of Appointments of Posts in the Civil services of the State for Rural Candidates Act,2000 (Karnataka Act 1 of 2001). The candidates whose parents do not come under the creamylayer and the candidates who have studied TEN full academic years from 1st Standard to 10thStandard in places other than the places mentioned in APPENDIX - III will be eligible for claimingthe benefit of Rural reservations. However, if the candidates have studied in these places from1st to 10th standard before the date of notification as urban area, such candidates are eligible toclaim rural reservation benefit.

    (4) RESERVATION FOR KANNADA MEDIUM CANDIDATES

    5% of the Government seats will be reserved in favour of the Kannada medium candidates whohave studied TEN full academic years in Kannada medium from 1s t Standard to 10th Standard, inaccordance with the Government Order No. ED 118 UEC 2000, Bangalore dated 04-06-2000 andas amended vide Government Order No. ED 02 UEC 2002, Bangalore dated 14-10-2005.

    (5) RESERVATION FOR WARD OF JAMMU & KASHMIRI MIGRANTS
