Multiple Baffle Rings Many models feature ourpatented Multiple BaffleRings (MBR™) which helpturn airflow smoothly intothe eye of the impeller, dra-matically reducing inlet pas-sage losses. MBR combinedwith the two-dimensionalimpeller design increasesblower efficiency and pres-sure/vacuum capability.
Balance PistonA balance piston is locatedat the outlet end of therotating impeller assemblyto compensate for the axialforce of the impellers onthe inlet bearing. Thisgreatly increases bearinglife for longer, trouble-freeoperation.
Flexible CouplingBlowers/exhausters connectdirectly to the powersource with a precisionaligned flexible coupling.This optimizes power trans-fer and minimizes bearingloads for longer life.
Cast HousingBlower housings are preci-sion machined from high-grade cast iron. Smallermodels are cast aluminum.The intermediate blowersections are assembledtogether using highstrength steel tie rods. Theblower and its driver aremounted together on a sin-gle steel baseplate. Thisassures long lasting per-formance and durability.
Multistage Shrouded ImpellersTwo-dimensional shroudedcast aluminum impellers arebalanced individually andkeyed onto the shaft. Onmost blowers, the completeassembly is then balanced toachieve smooth operationwith lowest vibration levelsin the industry. Rotor assem-blies are designed to operatewell below first criticalspeeds for added reliability.
Labyrinth SealNon-contact, non-wearinglabyrinth air seals arestandard. This no-mainte-nance seal is used in mostair and some gas applica-tions (purge option avail-able).
Carbon Ring SealFor special air and gasapplications requiringsuperior sealing, optionalcarbon ring seals are avail-able with purge option.

CF Select™ Precision Sizing ServiceTo help customers select the optimal blower or exhauster for theiroperation, Hoffman and Lamson engineers use CF Select, a comput-erized sizing service. CF Select software can create an infinite num-ber of performance curves for pressure, efficiency, temperature andpower consumption. Based on the specific gas mixture, inlet condi-tions, flow and pressure/vacuum requirements, CF Select chooses themost appropriate model, impeller design, operating speeds or throt-tling options.

Size & Performanceto Fit Your ApplicationWith 22 models to choose from and the ability to specify a variety of manufacturing options, you canbe assured that the blower or exhauster you order will deliver the performance you expect. In addi-tion to the base models available, customers can choose from a variety of design options such as spe-cial coatings, alternative component materials, oil or grease lubrication, special seals, drive couplingsand power sources. The Hoffman and Lamson blower/exhauster you specify is then manufacturedaccording to your unique application and requirements.
Gardner Denver Performance Testing LabHoffman and Lamson blowers and exhausters are tested in our state-of-the-art test facility inPeachtree City, Georgia. Using the most sophisticated testingequipment available in the industry, we test units up to 3,000horsepower in accordance with the latest edition of theASME test code PTC-10, ISO and all other applicable inter-national standards. Units are brought into this two-storylaboratory and connected to a specialized power unit andprecision monitoring equipment. The blower/exhauster isthen tested and evaluated for performance characteristics,noise level and vibration. Overall performance data is cap-tured in real time for performance curve evaluation anddocumentation. We frequently host performance testing forcustomers and inspectors from all over the world.

Choose From Multiple Drive OptionsHoffman and Lamson blowers and exhaustersmay be direct driven, V-belt driven or gearboxdriven with an electric motor. Alternative driversinclude steam turbines, diesel engines, gasolineengines and liquid petroleum or methane gasengines. Also available is the Next GenerationControls (NGC) variable frequency drive system.The NGC system automatically adjusts airflowoutput to match the actual airflow demand. Theblower/exhauster power requirement adjustsautomatically resulting in energy savings.
