You are hereby notified that this Addendum No. Three is issued to clarify, add, delete, correct and/or change the contract documents to the extent indicated and is hereby made a part of the above noted contract documents on which the contract will be based. Any modifications/changes made by this addendum affect only the portions or paragraphs specifically identified herein; all remaining portions of the proposal to remain in force. It is the responsibility of all bidders to conform to this addendum. Acknowledge receipt of this addendum in the space provided on the bid form. CHANGES TO THE SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Specification Section 051200 – Structural Steel Framing

a. MODIFY paragraph 1.6.D to read as follows: “D. Fabricator Qualifications: A qualified fabricator that participates in the AISC Quality Certification Program and is designated an AISC-Certified Plant, Category STD and must provide proof of these qualifications.”

b. MODIFY paragraph 1.6.E to read as follows:

“E. Installer Qualifications: A qualified installer who participates in the AISC Quality Certification Program and is designated an AISC-Certified Erector, Category CSE. The erector shall have a minimum of 5 years' experience in similar types of erection. Erector shall be able to furnish evidence of ability, facilities, proficiency of personnel, and

4. Specification Section 260533 – Raceway & Boxes for Electrical Systems

a. MODIFY paragraph 3.4.A to read as follows: "A. Underground Installations More than Five Feet From Foundation Wall: PVC non-metallic conduit.”

a. MODIFY Detail #2 for permeable unit pavers in vehicular areas as follows: The note pointing to the #57 aggregate base course shall be amended to reflect the hard dimension on the right hand side of the detail – “8” COURSE #57 AGGREGATE.”

6. Drawing M-101 – First & Second Floor HVAC Plans (sheet not reissued)

a. MODIFY Drawing 2 – Second Floor HVAC Plan as follows: Grille tags associated with the Exposed Oval Ducts adjacent to Grid Line 3 in the Zoology Lab #2155, and Grid Line 11 in the Botany & Env Sci Lab #2153, shall be amended from “EG-1” to Grille Type “EG-2”.

7. Drawing M-605 – Mechanical Details (sheet not reissued)

a. MODIFY Note #1 on Detail #1 to read: “1. For hanger spacing, see SMACNA Seismic Restraint Manual - OSHPD - 2009.”

B. BID QUESTIONS

# Question: Response:

1 A-601, floor plans & elevations Upon review of the floor plans, elevation views and the window & curtain walls/ storefront schedules on sheet A-601, we cannot locate the curtain walls framing and storefront framing configurations with dimensions and details. Also, the types of windows, curtain walls/storefront do not seemed to be marked on the floor plans. Our subcontractors do not want to assume the configurations and dimensions from the elevation views and the floor plans. Can you provide detailed configurations of each type of curtain walls/storefronts, and locate each type of windows, curtain walls and storefronts on the floor plans?

The storefront and curtain wall systems are to be designed as a deferred submittal, with detailing provided by the Contractor. The extent of the single windows is indicated with a letter mark, shown on floor plans A-401, A-402 and A-403, and referencing the schedule on A-601. The extent of the larger storefront and curtain wall systems, and operable windows, are indicated on the elevations on A-201 with keynotes. Vertical dimensions are shown in the wall profiles on A-305. Horizontal dimensions of the perimeter edges are controlled by the plans on A-401, A-402, and A-403. Internal spacing of the mullions is nominally 3'-0" and 6'-0", centered on the building grid. The extent of the storefront at the entry doors to the

classrooms and between the lobby areas and the study rooms is shown on the interior elevations on A-421, A-422, A-423, A-424, A-425, and A-426. The dimensions are controlled by the opening and door size in most cases. Otherwise, the mullions align with those on the exterior. Details on A-502, A-521 and A-522 show finish and waterproofing conditions at the perimeter of the storefront and curtain wall, as well as the design intent of the mullions.

2 Section 051200 Reference is made on spec section 051200.1.6.D & E. There is requirement for AISC certification for the fabricator and installer. There is only limited subcontractors who are AISC certified in the Bay Areas, and we understand that special inspections will be required to maintain the quality of both the shops fabrications and field installations work for this project. We would like to know if these requirements will be waived.

This provision will not be waived. Changes are made to Section 051200 as noted in Section A above.

3 S-102, S-401 Reference is made on sheets S-102 and S-401. The size of the glulam beam type #GL1 seems to be missing. Please provide.

Glulam beam sizes for both GL1 and GL2 are on S-402

4 Lay Down Areas During the job walk, the District verbally pointed at the construction lay down area. Can it be formalized in an addendum? Also, there are few existing building entrances from other buildings around the new building that are facing to the site. Please confirm that these entrances will not be used during the project duration and no temp. access or pathway will be needed for these entrances.

The laydown area is north of the existing Building 2100 as shown in the attached Figure 1. The area must be fenced and screened with minimum 7' high fence. Though not heavily used, no entrances to existing structures can be blocked and access must be maintained. Lack of additional laydown space is not grounds for extended schedule, general conditions, or other costs.

5 DVBE Requirements Please let us know if there are any DVBE or other outreach requirements for this bid.

The District has no DVBE or other outreach requirements for this bid.

6 Public Works Contractor Registration Certificate & DIR Numbers on Subcontractor List Public Works Contractor Registration Certificate (Special Conditions - Attachment D) The Special Conditions Section 11 and the Bid Proposal Form Item 2 require that this form be executed and submitted with the bid proposal for the general contractor and all its subcontractors. We request that this form for the General Contractor be required with the bid, but that the Registration Certificates for all listed subcontractors be required via email within 24-48 hours after the bid by the low general contractor or the three low general contractors. Please also note that it is now state law for DIR registration numbers to be listed on the Subcontractor List at the time of the bid. There is no section for the DIR number to be listed on the current Subcontractor List.

The DIR Registration Certificates are required by all bidders (General Contractors) at the time of the bid opening. The apparent lowest bidder will be required to complete the District's requested "Designation of Subcontractors" form during the due diligence process. At which time, the apparent lowest bidder will be required to submit the DIR Registration Certificates for all listed sub-contractors. In accordance with the Department of Industrial Relations, the awarding body must require proof of registration before accepting a bid or awarding a contract. At the time of the bid opening, the District opens all bids and records, identifying the apparent lowest bidder. The bid is accepted after the proof of registration has been verified for both the GC and Subs.

7 Spec Section 115310 Laboratory Casework Manufacturer Spec Section 115310 Laboratory Casework & Other Furnishings, Item 2.1A lists 5 manufacturers of those ICI/CampbellRhea is not listed but item 6 notes approved substitution. I am requesting if ICI/CampbellRhea can be approved as a wood laboratory casework manufacturer for this project.

The proposed substitution of ICI/CampbellRhea for the wood laboratory casework for Chabot is not approved.

8 FA-001 We have a 2-part question with reference to Bid NO. 18-01 Biological Sciences Building Annex at Chabot College. 1. Is the bidding of the, Fire Alarm System Section 283100 "supply and install" open to any factory trained and qualified Gamewell/FCI contractor? 2. Or shall the system only be supplied and installed by the contractor mentioned in Addendum #2, Fire Alarm drawing, Sheet FA-001 "Scope of Work"?

1. Yes. 2. No, Battalion One provided Arup with design assistance only. System can be installed by any qualified Gamewell/FCI contractor.

9 Spec Section 2602533 [sic] PVC Non-Metallic Conduit PVC non-metallic conduit is noted under specification 260533-2.6 "Products". Specification 260533-3.4 "Conduit Installation Schedule" item A requires PVC coated rigid conduit for underground installation more than five feet from foundation wall. Item B requires rigid steel conduit in or under concrete slabs or underground within five feet of foundation wall. PVC non-metallic conduit is not mentioned in the Conduit Installation Schedule. Is PVC non-metallic conduit not allowed on this project? If it is, where can this product be used?

PVC non-metallic conduit to be used for underground installation. The change is made to Section 260533 as noted in Section A above.

10 Spec Section 051200, 1.6 - D & E Steel Fabrication / Erection Will the requirement AISC Certified Plant & AISC Certified Erector be waived?

Refer to RFI#2 response above.

11 220719 Please see the following question from our plumbing and mechanical insulator supplier/subcontractor regarding the insulation specs for the domestic and industrial hot water systems: In the Plumbing insulation specs there is a call for 1.5” cell glass on the domestic hot water, which is not typical and would require a lot of additional insulation fittings. We also noticed that there is an option for using ¾” rubber with an ASK jacket, or a double coat of painting, but they usually are applied only for outdoor applications. In the mechanical section for heating and chilled the industry standard of fiberglass is acceptable. Can we get a confirmation that fiberglass insulation in accordance with title 24 is acceptable for plumbing insulation?

The contractor has misinterpreted the specifications. Section 220719 paragraph 3.13.A requires insulation that complies with the California Energy Code. The proposed fiberglass insulation with kraft paper jacket would comply. Paragraph 3.13.B applies only to the stormwater piping to prevent condensation.

12 23 05 48-2.2, 2.3 The Noise, Vibration, and Seismic Controls for HVAC spec 23 05 48-2.2 & 2.3 states the Bases, Isolators, Mounts, Curbs, and Hangers are "abbreviation on schedules". Please identify the Schedules where the corresponding abbreviations can be found.

Arup chose not to use abbreviations in the schedules. Arup include abbreviations in the specifications in case they need to use them in the schedules. Arup chose not to abbreviate in the schedules, and instead spelled them out.

13 23 36 00-3.2J Air Terminal Units spec 23 36 00-3.2J states to "install mininum of 5 ft of 1 inch thick lined ductwork downstream of units", but is not depicted or noted in the Drawings. Confirm the requirement is required.

Yes, the 5' of 1" thick liner in the ductwork is required beyond the outlet of all VAV boxes.

14 M-101 Second Floor Drawing 2/M-101 states Exhaust Grilles EG-1 along the exposed Oval Ducts along Grid Lines 3 and 11 in the Zoology Lab #2155 and Botany & Env Sci Lab #2153. Should the Grilles be Type EG-2 to match the First Floor per Drawing 1/M-101?

Yes, you are correct. These duct mounted exhaust grilles should be EG-2. The change is made to Drawing M-101 as noted in Section A above.

15 There are not any Products listing for Fire/Smoke Dampers or Fire Dampers under Air Duct Accessories spec 23 33 00, or depicted on the Mechanical Drawings. Confirm if any FSD or FD are required, if so, please locate and provide specifications.

The B occupancy type of the building and the fact it is fire sprinklered means that shafts are exempt from fire smoke dampers. Also, there are no ducts through fire partitions.

16 Detail 1/M-401 There is a Sound Attenuator symbol, by gridlines 6 & 7 and A &B, for the 26"x12" EA Ductwork serving EF-1/2. There is not a Duct Silencer tag number or noted in the Equipment Schedule Drawing M-003. Is the Sound Attenuator required? If so, provide Model number and Size.

There are two duct silencers shown in plan and scheduled that serve EF 1 and EF 2. The exhaust duct size is 40"x24". The model number and manufacturer are listed in the duct silencer schedule on sheet M-003 as DS-5 and DS-6 (Vibro Acoustics: RENM-UHV-FJ).

17 Detail 1/M-401 [sic] See below for items that have a significant cost impact to project with no performance enhancements to systems. Advise if this is what is wanted

1. Provide 5 year warranty as specified. 2. #4 finish is required for EXPOSED stainless steel. 3. Details 1 & 2 were put together to conform with DSA approval requirements. DSA requires duct supports conform with SMACNA Seismic Restraint Manual - OSHPD - 2009; and not the SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards. The OSHPD requirements are more stringent. Refer to this guide for spacing requirements of duct supports. 4. Note #1 should read: “For hanger spacing, see SMACNA Seismic Restraint Manual - OSHPD – 2009”. This is required for DSA approval, not SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards. The change is made to Drawing M-605 as noted in Section A above. 5. Steel containment as specified in 22 49 00 is required.

18 Can the Geotechnical Report be provided by addendum?

Geotechnical report is issued with Bid Addendum No. 3.

19 Detail 2/Drwg. L-401, please confirm the course aggregate dimension is 8", despite be called out as 4".

Yes, please provide 8” depth for #57 aggregate under pavers in vehicular areas. The change is made to Drawing L-401 as noted in Section A above.

20 Have the native soils been tested for any contamination? If not, should we assume clean material?

Soils have not been tested for contamination. Contractor to assume export to Altamont Landfill and import of clean fill.

21 003132 Geotechnical Data Geotechnical Report We have had several subcontractor requests for the Geotechnical Report that is noted as available in the Construction Manager's office in the above noted spec section. We request that you publish this report in a future addendum so that it is available to all. Thank you.

22 Specs Section 115310-19 Fume hoods by Bedcolab Specs Section 115310-19 Para.2.2.1 has identified Bedcolab as an approved manufacturer of metal casework. Please confirm Bedcolab is also an approved manufacturer for fume hoods.

23 Specs Section 115310-46 Epoxy resin shelves Specs Section 115310-46 Para. 2.7.D noted epoxy resin shelves while other wall and reagent shelves were noted as plastic laminate. Please confirm epoxy resin shelves are required for heavy duty wall shelves.

26 LF-102 Casework under stainless steel countertops Aside from Greenhouse 2151 noted with stainless steel casework; at other rooms, please verify if casework under stainless steel countertops is wood or stainless steel.

Per LF-004 provide wood base cabinet lab casework unless otherwise noted, except special cabinets to be metal unless otherwise noted. Per bid documents, in Cadaver Room 2172 provide painted metal base cabinets as noted, and in Greenhouse 2151 provide stainless steel base cabinets as noted.

27 LF-101 Casework at Cadaver 2172 Please confirm that casework at Cadaver 2172 is metal as noted in plans; not stainless steel casework which is common at Cadaver rooms.
