    Philosophy is not something to be studied about; it

    is rather something to do, a way of life, a way of

    asking questions about the most general and basic

    problems of human experience, meaning andrelationship. Philosophy is also the practice of

    making and assessing arguments. An argument is a

    set of statements(called premises) that work

    together to support another statement (the

    conclusion).

    National Education Philosophy

    Education in Malaysia is an on-going effort towardsfurther developing the potential of individuals in aholistic and integrated manner, so as to produceindividuals who are intellectually, spiritually,

    emotionally and physically balanced and harmonious,based on a firm belief in and devotion to God. Such aneffort is designed to produce Malaysian citizens whoare knowledgeable and competent, who possess highmoral standards, and who are responsible and capable

    of achieving high level of personal well-being as well asbeing able to contribute to the harmony andbetterment of the family, the society and the nation atlarge.

    Education Act

    Education Act 1996 regulates the provision of pre-school, primary and secondary education. The reviewwas to enable the implementation of compulsoryeducation at primary school level. In 2002 the

    education act was amended and the implementationof compulsory education took effect in 2003. Thispolicy ensures that every child in Malaysia beginning atage 6, regardless of sex, social and economicbackground, and residential locality has the right to

    primary education. Accordingly, every Malaysianparents must ensure that their child has access toprimary education when the child reaches the age of 6.
