PCG Educaon’s Educaonal Partnerships Services (PCG-EP) and Charleston County School District have a mul-year collaboraon to provide Kaleidoscope/EPIC Summer Camps to eight of the County’s Community Educaon locaons. PCG-EP was responsible for delivering the morning academic session, while Community Educaon delivered the aſternoon enrichment component. PCG-EP’s EPIC Summer Camp programming is based upon engaging, hands-on learning acvies with an academic focus, while the focus of the Community Educaon locaons was learning, recreaon, and other enrichment acvies. Together these two components blend seamlessly to provide a high-quality, summer experience for Charleston County’s youth. More than 1,000 Pre-K and K-8 campers were served Monday-Friday from June 16 - August 1, 2014. The Kaleidoscope/EPIC camps included STEM, math, reading, and wring modules. Campers were academically engaged by cerfied teaching staff for three, 60-minute blocks per day, and were able to parcipate in teambuilding energizers that provided bursts of excitement throughout the morning sessions. The program has three main objecves; to provide a fun and memorable summer camp experience where students feel great, enjoy learning, and make new friends; to improve fundamental skills in English Language Arts, Wring, Math and Science, while focusing on 21st Century Learning Skills; and to provide engaging age appropriate enrichment content to allow students to become more well rounded academically, while building good character and civic responsibility. Over 1,000 students have benefited from the collaboraon between PCG-EP and Charleston County School District. The camps achieved the idenfied objecves of creang a fun and safe environment where children Pre-K through eighth grade could enhance their academic skills in English/Language Arts, Wring, Math, and Science while improving social interacons. Camper survey responses also indicate the overwhelmingly high rate of posive feelings regarding their summer experiences. Overall, 93% of surveyed campers enjoyed aending the camp and 90% of campers felt that they learned new things that would help them in the coming school year. Addionally, 87% of campers said they would tell others how great the academic acvies were and 85% of surveyed campers reported in the post survey that they had posive atudes toward the academic subjects of science, reading, and math. An independent study of the Kaleidoscope/EPIC camp conducted by Clemson University’s Youth Learning Instute also substanated the results from these survey results nong that posive change appears to be occurring in academic self-efficacy for the rising 4-9 graders, and academic atudes towards most core subjects appear to be increasing for rising 1-3 grade campers. PCG Education’s Educational Partnerships Services (PCG-EP) and Charleston County School District have a multi-year collaboration to provide Kaleidoscope/EPIC Summer Camps to eight of the County’s Community Education locations. PCG-EP was responsible for delivering the morning academic session, while Community Education delivered the afternoon enrichment component. PCG-EP’s EPIC Summer Camp programming is based upon engaging, hands-on learning activities with an academic focus, while the focus of the Community Education locations was learning, recreation, and other enrichment activities. Together these two components blend seamlessly to provide a high-quality, summer experience for Charleston County’s youth.

More than 1,000 Pre-K and K-8 campers were served Monday-Friday from June 16 - August 1, 2014. The Kaleidoscope/EPIC camps included STEM, math, reading, and writing modules. Campers were academically engaged by certified teaching staff for three, 60-minute blocks per day, and

were able to participate in teambuilding energizers that provided bursts of excitement throughout the morning sessions. The program has three main objectives; to provide a fun and memorable summer camp experience where students feel great, enjoy learning, and make new friends; to improve fundamental skills in English Language Arts, Writing, Math and Science, while focusing on 21st Century Learning Skills; and to provide engaging age appropriate enrichment content to allow students to become more well rounded academically, while building good character and civic responsibility.

Over 1,000 students have benefited from the collaboration between PCG-EP and Charleston County School District. The camps achieved the identified objectives of creating a fun and safe environment where children Pre-K through eighth grade could enhance their academic skills in English/Language Arts, Writing, Math, and Science while improving social interactions. Camper survey responses also indicate the overwhelmingly high rate of positive feelings regarding their summer experiences. Overall, 93% of surveyed campers enjoyed attending the camp and 90% of campers felt that they learned new things that would help them in the coming school year. Additionally, 87% of campers said they would tell others how great the academic activities were and 85% of surveyed campers reported in the post survey that they had positive attitudes toward the academic subjects of science, reading, and math. An independent study of the Kaleidoscope/EPIC camp conducted by Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute also substantiated the results from these survey results noting that positive change appears to be occurring in academic self-efficacy for the rising 4-9 graders, and academic attitudes towards most core subjects appear to be increasing for rising 1-3 grade campers.
