    Devils pushed across three

runs in the bottom of the

fifth to come from behind in

the opener and then rode a

no-hit gem to victory in the

    second contest against Elk

    Rapids on April 17.

In game one, a perfectly ex-

    ecuted suicide squeeze bunt

    by Skylar Gibson allowed

    Jordan Harasewicz to score

    the go-ahead run (their third

run of the inning) with oneout in the bottom of the fifth

and that proved to be all the

    difference the Red Devils

would need as they hung on

    for the victory.

    Austen Mellios went the

    distance for the win, giving

    up three runs, two earned,

    scattering five hits, walking

    four and fanning 10.

    Harasewicz led East Jordan

at the plate with two singles

    and an RBI, while Mellios,

    Matt Bolser and Wyatt

    Werner all singled.

    Austen Mellios pitched six

    strong innings and pitched

his way out of several jams

during the game, East Jor-dan coach Al Stallard said.

He really has a way of dig-

    ging deep and working him-

    self out of tough situations.

In game two it was all Red

    Devils, as Harasewicz tossed

a near perfect game, going six

    innings, fanning seven, giv-

ing up no runs, no hits, and

walking one for the East Jor-

    dan victory.

    At the dish, Harasewicz fin-

    ished with three hits, includ-

ing a solo home run, while

    Gibson pounded out four hits,

    including a pair of doubles

    and an RBI, Mellios, Bolser

    and Werner all finished with

two hits, one of Werners adouble. Tim Schutt and Zak

    Shepard singled.

    Bolser finished with four

    RBI.

It was nice to see the bats

come to life in game two,

    coach Stallard said. Jordan

    had tremendous control of all

of his pitches, and we also

    had another strong defensive

    According to a just-released re-

    port, Dental Clinics North pro-

vided oral health care to over

    24,000 low-income and/or unin-

    sured residents of Northern Michi-

    gan in 2011.

Dental Clinics North ensuresall residents have access to dental

care, no matter if they have dental

    insurance or not, said Linda

    Yaroch, Health Officer for the

    Health Department of Northwest

    Michigan which administers eight

    Dental Clinics North locations.

Oral health can often be over-

looked, but regular oral health care

is just as important as physical

    health care.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Con-

trol & Prevention says poor adults

are less likely to seek care for atoothache the most common

source of pain in the mouth. In

fact, nationwide, over 40% of low-

income adults have at least one un-

    treated decayed tooth. In many

areas of the country, people with

low incomes who are enrolled in

Medicaid or have no health insur-

ance cannot find a dentist to treat

    them. In a unique partnership

    with local health departments,

    thousands of residents across the

tip of the mitt can get oral health

care at Dental Clinics North, a sys-tem of public health dental clinics.

    Dental Clinics North offers com-

    prehensive oral care for children

    and adults with Medicaid, Healthy

    Kids Dental, MIChild, or Northern

    Dental Plan. For those without

    dental insurance, Northern Dental

Plan offers services at a reduced

    fee based on income eligibility.

Dental Clinics North is a great

    program, Yaroch said. If your

teeth hurt, its difficult to eat, talk,

and sleep. Some oral health prob-

lems can affect the way you feelabout yourself too. We have many

    success stories from clients whove

gone back to school or found new

jobs after their problem teeth were

    addressed. Getting teeth fixed can

    be a life-changing experience.

    Dental Clinics North caters to

    patients with Medicaid, Delta

    Healthy Kids, Northern Dental

Plan, and those with low income

    who are uninsured. Oral exams,

    cleaning, fluoride treatments, fill-

    ings, dentures, and other proce-

dures are available at DentalClinics North locations in Alpena,

    Cheboygan, East Jordan, Gaylord,

    Mancelona, Petoskey, Traverse

City, and West Branch. To schedule

Question & Answers AboutSelling Real Estate

Make spring cleaning less ofa chore by following these

    smarterand mostlygreenertips for this annual

    rite of homeownership.

    Part 2 of 4

KitchensThe kitchen can be a tough

room to clean because theresusually so much stuff in it,

    says Justin Klosky, founder

    and creative director of The

    OCD Experience, an organiza-

    tional service. Before you

    break out the broom, go

through your cabinets anddrawers, and put together a

box of items to donate and a

box of items to store some-

    where besides the kitchen.

    Clear your countertops of

    everything except items you

    use nearly every day.

    After youve de-cluttered,

you can get to work cleaning.

    Cloud Conrad, vice president

    of marketing for cleaning

    company Maid Brigade, says

    one tool you shouldnt over-

    look is an all-purpose mi-

    crofiber cloth (about $5).

    These arent run-of-the-mill

dusting rags. Microfiber is adensely woven synthetic fab-

ric that picks up dirt and

    greasy deposits without chem-

    icals thanks to its unique

    composition. You should be

    able to clean surfaces like

    countertops, sinks, and stoves

    with warm water, a mi-

crofiber cloth, and a bit of

    elbow grease, Conrad says.

    Since you prepare your food

    in the kitchen, consider using

    green commercial products

    for surfaces, or make your

    own vinegar/water spray.

    Conventional cleaners may re-

move dirt, but they can alsoharbor some nasty substances

you dont want in your PB&J.

    Microfiber, vinegar, and bak-

ing soda will clean and disin-

    fect almost every kitchen

surface at a fraction of the

    price. Dont neglect once-a-

    year chores like vacuuming

    refrigerator coils (unplug

    your fridge first), and tossing

    out expired food from the

    back of the pantry.
