2. Research your compounds before turning in your list!

Picking a Compound

Demonstrations

• Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology

• Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Encyclopedia

What Resources to Use and How

Hands On!!

Look up your compound(s) in the background resources.

What Resources to Use and How

1. Use “Get It @ ASU

2. Use other links if provided

Avoiding Plagiarism

ACS (American Chemical Society) style has two formats:

• Short format: eliminates titles for the articles, patent and book chapters.

Larabee, D. C.; Reynolds, T. Y.; Hochberg, R. B. J. Med. Chem. 2001, 44, 1802-1814.

• Full or long format: complete citation

Larabee, D. C.; Reynolds, T. Y.; Hochberg, R. B. Estradiol-16α-carboxylic Acid Esters as Locally Active Estrogens. J. Med. Chem. 2001, 44, 1802-1814.

ACS Citation Style

For this paper, use the full format.

• Journal of Medicinal Chemistry’s author guide, section 2.2.8 (References & Notes)

• Quick Guide: ACS Citation Style

ACS Citation Style

Write ‘n’ Cite

• Add-on software for RefWorks and Word

• Write your paper in Word, insert RefWorks coding
