A Centuries Old TraditionHello and welcome to the famous Chorley Markets. The town’s proud market heritage dates back to the late fifteenth century with many of the age-old traditions still thriving amid the bustling open-air markets.

On market day visitors can expect a unique shopping experience with the sound of traders shouting their wares. Tuesday is the busiest day when both the Flat Iron and Covered Market are in full swing with over a hundred stalls offering a wide variety of goods.

The markets, owned and managed by Chorley Council, continue to be a focal point for Chorley’s town centre improvements creating a shoppers paradise offering real value, real shopping and real choice.

Covered MarketChorleys’ thriving covered market is held every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday attracting visitors from far and wide. Just about everything is on sale from locally sourced fresh fruit and vegetables to household wares and fancy goods from all around the world.

Flat Iron MarketOriginating in 1498 the Flat Iron Market (also known as the cattle market) has developed from an agricultural produce market to one of the best open air markets in the North West. With dozens of stalls every Tuesday the market is popular with locals and visitors. The Flat Iron covers half of the Market Walk car park and gets its name from the practice of displaying goods flat on the floor.
