John 13:34-35

34: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Service And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are

only in the service of your God.

PatiencePatience is the capacity to endure without being angry,

frustrated, or anxious. We can develop patience by seeking to do God’s will and accept His timing, trusting

that He will fulfill all of His promises to us.

As we learn to be patient in small things, we prepare ourselves to face larger trials with patience.

PatienceD&C 24:8 Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for, lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days.

As parents, we know how unwise it would be to indulge our children’s every desire. But children are not the only ones who spoil when showered with immediate gratification. Our Heavenly Father knows what good parents come to understand over time: if children are ever going to mature and reach their potential, they must learn to wait.

“Patience is tied very closely to faith in our Heavenly Father. Actually, when we are unduly impatient, we are suggesting that we know what is best—better than does God. Or, at least, we are asserting that our timetable is better than His” (“Patience,” Ensign, Oct. 1980, 28).

Patience is a godly attribute that can heal souls, unlock treasures of knowledge and understanding, and transform ordinary men and women into saints and angels. Patience is truly a fruit of the Spirit.

Patience means staying with something until the end. It means delaying immediate gratification for future blessings. It means reining in anger and holding back the unkind word.

Be GratefulThe Lord wants us to have a spirit of gratitude in all we do and say. When we are grateful, we will have greater happiness and satisfaction in our

lives. We will recognize the influence and blessings of the Lord.

Give Thanks

D&C 46:32 And ye must give

thanks unto God in the Spirit for

whatsoever blessing ye are blessed with.

“O Remember, Remember” Video

More than gratitude began to grow in my heart. Testimony grew. I became ever more certain that our Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers. I felt more gratitude for the softening and refining that come because of the Atonement of the Savior Jesus Christ. And I grew more confident that the Holy Ghost can bring all things to our remembrance—even things we did not notice or pay attention to when they happened.

My point is to urge you to find ways to recognize and remember God’s kindness.

What are we focusing on?

It is the Holy Ghost who helps us see what God has done for us. It is the Holy Ghost who can help those we serve to see what God has done for them.

Comparing + Complaining = Ingratitude

Give the gift of Gratitude

Often we feel grateful and intend to express our thanks but forget to do so or just don’t

get around to it.

Someone has said that “feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like

wrapping a present and not giving it.”
