From the Pastor’s Desk
If you have not done so already, please check out our new website: christthekingcolumbus.com. It’s still a work in progress, but our parish has undoubtedly taken a huge step forward in terms of our presence on the World Wide Web. We tried to reflect the makeup of our community by putting everything in two languages; my hope is that both English-speakers and Spanish-speakers will feel comfortable with the layout. I particularly like the fact that all of the basic parish info is easily found on the homepage. Plus, my brand new Twitter feed is on display, too! (We’ll see how long I can keep tweeting without becoming a complete bore.) There was a team of three individuals who dedicated a great deal of time developing the website: Bob Irwin, Cat McComis, and Claudia Costilla. If you happen to see them at Mass, please be sure to give them a pat on the back. And if you have any suggestions regarding the website, please let me know.

Congratulations to the Missionary Servants of the Word!
Monday, February 2, is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord and the World Day for Consecrated Life. Just as Jesus was presented to God the Father in the temple when he was a child, so all consecrated men and women are a gift to God, offering themselves in service to Church. We give thanks to God for the sisters at Christ the King and pray for them in a special way on Monday.

A limited number of brochures for the Parish Pilgrimage to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families are available in the vestibule of the church. More copies will be available in the weeks ahead. The blessing of throats on the Feast of St. Blaise will take place directly after the 7:00 a.m. Mass and the 12:00 p.m. Mass this Tuesday, February 3.
Please sign up to spend some time with the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, February 6. Adoration will be from 7:30
a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The sign-up sheet will be placed on the podium by the sacristy door. Our second annual Couples Retreat in English will be held this Saturday, February 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The theme of the retreat will be “Mary and Joseph: An Example of Married Love.” The cost is $20 per couple. Lunch is included. The last day to sign up is Monday, February 2. Please contact the office if you are interested in participating. (This event is in English.) There will be a Couples Retreat in Spanish on Saturday, February 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The focus of the retreat will be romantic love in light of the Old Testament Song of Songs. ¡Felicidades a las Misioneras Servidoras de la Palabra! El lunes 2 de febrero es la Fiesta de la Presentación del Señor y el Día Mundial de la Vida Consagrada. Así como Jesús fue presentado a Dios Padre en el templo cuando era un niño, todos los consagrados (hombres y mujeres) son un regalo para Dios, que se ofrecen a sí mismos al servicio de la Iglesia. Agradecemos a Dios por las hermanas de Christ the King y oremos por ellas de manera especial el lunes. El último día de inscripciones para el Estudio Bíblico de Niños es el sábado 7 de febrero. Catholic Women’s Conference and Catholic Men’s Conference
These conferences only come to Columbus once a year! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to hear great speakers and connect with the Catholic Church in Columbus. This year, for the first time, there will be a live translation of the conferences in Spanish. The Women’s Conference will be on Saturday, February 21, at the Ohio Expo Center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “At the Foot of the Cross,” and the speakers include Colleen Carroll Campbell, Dr. Edward Sri, and singer, songwriter Emily Wilson. The Near East Side Restorative Justice Circle is in need of volunteers. A Restorative Justice Circle acts as an arm of the court by bringing together the juvenile offender, his/her parents, the victim, and members of the community. The participants discuss the offense, ask questions, and make decisions as to how the offender should take responsibility for his/her actions. For more info, call 614-582-9260.
