Dear Parishioners, Christmas is an event so important in the history of mankind. It is an event when God takes the human form in the person of Jesus Christ and comes into the world to save us from sin and death. Let us join the shepherds as they lead us in the way to meet Jesus in Bethlehem. God sought out some people, the simple shepherds, to accompany Mary and Joseph. Light surrounds the shepherds as the angels sing their praises “Glory to God in the highest….” And they hasten to Bethlehem to find the new-born child, wrapped in swaddling clothes in a manger, the Light of the World (Lk 2: 1-14). The whole atmosphere is filled with joy. Their little glimpse of heaven has encouraged them to go back to look at the world with new eyes, to see the real meaning of events that look perfectly ordinary, extraordinary, and that causes them to “glorify and praise God.” Christmas is God’s gift for us. It is an opportunity of new beginnings, our own Bethlehem. It is not that we have found Jesus but that we allow God to find us. And He fills us with wonder, surprise and dignity. Let’s go to Bethlehem…with our gifts.

As Catholics, we believe that every human being is created in the image and likeness of
God. Each of us is sacred and our lives—body, mind and soul—should be treated with respect. In order to volunteer in any parish of the Diocese of Phoenix, NEW volunteers are required to complete the Safe Environment
education foundation program called “Protecting God’s Children for Adults” and
required to enroll in a foundation class prior to serving.
English: January 7th 2017 from 9am-12pm in Presentation Hall
Spanish: January 7th, 6pm-9pm in St. Francis
You can register online or stop by the Parish Office to register for English or Spanish.
*Please complete the Volunteer Application and bring to the class along with 3-5 references.

UN MENSAJE PARA USTED
Queridos Parroquianos, Navidad es un evento de mucha importancia en la historia de la humanidad. Es un evento en donde Dios se convierte en humano en la persona de Jesucristo y viene al mundo para salvarnos del pecado y la muerte. Acompañemos a los pastorcillos que nos guían en el camino hasta Belén para encontrarnos con Jesús. Dios buscó a algunas personas, a pastores sencillos para que acompañaran a María y a José. En su caminata hasta Belén, para encontrar al bebé recién nacido, la Luz del mundo en un pesebre, los mismos pastorcillos son rodeados de luz al mismo tiempo que los ángeles cantan alabanzas, “Gloria a Dios en las alturas...” (Lucas 2: 1-14). Es un ambiente completamente lleno de alegría. Esta pequeña muestra del cielo los animó a regresar al mundo con ojos nuevos, para ver el verdadero sentido de los eventos que parecen ordinarios, extraordinarios, y los causa a “glorificar y alabar a Dios.” La navidad es el regalo de Dios para nosotros. Es una oportunidad de nuevos comienzos, nuestro propio Belén. No es que encontramos a Jesús, sino nos dejamos encontrar por Dios. Él nos llena de admiración, sorpresa y dignidad. Vayamos hasta Belén...con nuestros regalos. ¡Fe l iz Navidad!
