ARE YOU SOMEONE OR DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE

WHO?—has expressed an interest in becoming Catholic? Was baptized

Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of

Confirmation and/or Eucharist? We offer an opportunity to come

together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on

the teachings and experience of Church and prepare adults to celebrate

the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and

Eucharist during the Easter season. You are

welcome to participate in the process with your

questions, your insights and your faith story in a

warm accepting setting. For information please

contact Geoff Schnieder at the rectory: 412-279

-7070, [email protected].

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE (SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN

ORDINARY TIME)—Today’s gospel guarantees if we “ask” we will

“receive,” perhaps not what we wanted but what our Heavenly Father

knows is best for us, His children. All the love we have for our children,

God has for us and more. As our children trust us, we must trust “Our

Father.”

MARRIAGE MOMENTS—Do you ever bargain with your

beloved? “If you watch the kids, I’ll be able to do this repair project.” OR

“If only you could give me five more minutes, one hour, one day to finish

this, we could spend some quality time together.” It’s not bad to

negotiate, but keep your end of the bargain. ~©2016 by Susan Vogt,

www.SusanVogt.net.

PARENTING POINTERS—The 4th Sunday in July is Parents’

Day. Go beyond the “Hallmark Holiday” notion. Perhaps use it as a time

to tell your child what it was like for you to await their birth. How did

you prepare? ~©2016 by Susan Vogt, www.SusanVogt.net.

SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 24, 2016

TOUCHING HEARTS, CHANGING LIVES—This weekend, July 23-24, Sister Nancy Barshick, a Mission Helper of the Sacred Heart from Marianna, PA, is speaking at all the Masses and will share her missionary experiences. Sister Nancy is a veteran Missionary and has had assignments from her religious community to many Dioceses in the United States, Bahamas and overseas. She has ministered with the young and old teaching the Word of God, mentoring and counseling and ministering to the sick. At present, Sister Nancy is a spiritual counselor and volunteer social worker. Please welcome Sr. Nancy. Be as generous as you can. It will greatly be appreciated. DIOCESAN CHOIR AUDITIONS—Auditions for the 2016-2017 Diocesan Choir season soon will be held. The Choir, under the direction of Fr. Jim Chepponis, music director for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, sings for the major Diocesan events at St. Paul Cathedral throughout the year. Currently there are openings in the soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections. Ina addition to being good singers, potential members must be capable sigh-readers due to a limited rehearsal schedule, and at least 18 years old. Rehearsals are held at St. John Capistran Church and audition times may be scheduled by calling Doris Anne at 412-456-3042 before Monday, August 15. WE NEED EFFECTIVE WAYS TO BRING PEOPLE BACK TO THE CHURCH—It’s especially important to connect with our young people and care for the aging. On Mission for The Church Alive!, our Diocesan-wide planning initiative, will propose new models for ministry in parishes and other faith communities. A total of 21 criteria will help guide this work. Learn more at www.OnMissionChurchAlive.org/About. Follow On Mission for The Church Alive on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter at @PghChurchAlive.

OUR LADY OF GRACE FACEBOOK PAGE—We now have

a Facebook page. You can like us at “Our Lady of Grace Scott Twp,

PA”. We will be regularly updating our Facebook page with Parish

activities and announcements.

As you may have noticed, the installation of our new windows in the school and CCD building began last week. The old windows were the original ones from the 1950’s, over 60 years old. These new windows will not only keep our classrooms warmer in the cold weather and cooler in the hot weather, but this will also improve the overall appearance of the building with the dark, bronze-colored frames providing sharp contrast to the yellow brick. The color of the window frames matches the color of the new school doors purchased for us by the Women’s

Guild a couple of years ago. We will complete phase two of this window project next summer when we replace the windows and doors at the entrance of Conroy Hall and replace the wall of windows that stretch along the third and second floors of the laboratory and the library on the Kane Boulevard side of the building. This two-phase window project will be the most expensive of the five capital improvements we have undertaken in Our Campaign for the Church Alive! We’ve had sufficient funds to complete these badly needed projects because of your continued generosity as you have fulfilled your pledges these past few years. We’re counting on your continued help as we near completion of our fifth and final major capital improvement. As you know, Our Lady of Grace Parish was one of the original pilot parishes to launch the overall diocesan effort. With the successful installation of the new roofs on the Bower Hill buildings, the new lighting in the Church, the new emergency alarm in the school, the new air conditioning system in the Church, and, now, the new windows in the school and CCD building, we may be among the first of the 200 parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh to complete their targeted capital improvement projects for Our Campaign for the Church Alive! Thank you for your sacrifice and support in pledging about $2.4 million to our campaign, nearly $900,000 more that the $1.5 million that the Diocese encouraged us to raise. You have entrusted us with your pledges and we have put them to good use as we promised. A special thanks to our finance and pastoral councils who got behind this historic effort in the life of our Parish and to Regina Stover who chaired our campaign. Rev. Richard A. Infante Pastor

Welcome to all here today celebrating Mass with us at Our Lady

of Grace Parish.
