2015 CATHOLIC APPEAL

The Cardinal’s Appeal is well underway. We would like to thank all of you who have given so generously to support our parish. If you have yet to make a contribution, pledge forms are on the table in the Gathering Space. You can also make a pledge online at www.bostoncatholicappeal.org. Thank you for your support and for helping us as we aim to reach our parish goal.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! - SPECIAL TAIZE PRAYER St. Ignatius with Boston College will host a very special TAIZE PRAYER on Monday April 13th at 7:15pm. Three brothers from the Taizé Community in France will be with us to celebrate and meet for an informal presentation afterward in the Friary Room. All are invited to join us for a unique opportunity to encounter members of the Taizé community.

EVENING PRAYER FOR HOLY WEEK - MONDAY, MARCH 30TH 7:30, UPPER CHURCH All are invited to join us for an evening prayer of scripture, music and dance with members of the Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble and the music ministry of St. Ignatius Parish under the direction of Michael Burgo. This is a unique experience of prayer that invites all to enter into the mystery of God’s presence with us in Jesus Christ through song, story, movement and dance. Through these different media, Father Bob has created a prayer and worship experience that promises to “move” you in many wonderful ways.

THE IGNATIAN WAY: FROM GRATITUDE TO JOY - MAY 1ST -3RD Join us for the St. Ignatius Spring Retreat at the Connors Retreat Center in Dover. The retreat begins Friday, May 1st at 6:00pm and concludes Sunday at 11:00am. To register, please contact [email protected] or call the Parish Office at 617-552-6102.

Congratulations Congratulations to all of the young members of our community who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time throughout this month. We celebrate with them on their path to deepening their relationship with our Lord of mercy, forgiveness and healing. The smiles on their faces are beacons for our community of God’s love for us all. Please keep them, and their families, in your prayers as they continue their preparations for First Eucharist in May.

CRS RICE BOWL COUNTRY OF THE WEEK: UNITED STATES

Catholic Social Teaching Focus: The Common Good

Albany’s Story of Hope The community garden outside the Sister Maureen Joyce Center was once an abandoned lot in a low-income neighborhood in Albany, New York. Today, it provides fresh fruits and vegetables to the Center’s soup kitchen, where nearly 130 people gather three times a week for a lunch made from scratch. The garden brightens up a neighborhood of concrete, abandoned lots, addiction and unemployment. In addition to the soup kitchen and community garden, the Center houses a food pantry that supplies 300 households per month with nutritious food and cooking supplies and young families with children are able to obtain diapers, formula, clothing and strollers at the Center’s ministry for young families. The Center receives funding from CRS Rice Bowl donations—from the 25 percent designated for local use by the Diocese of Albany’s CRS Rice Bowl collection.

THANKS… FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR SOCKS AND FLIP-FLOPS DRIVE!

ANOTHER THANKS… to our Habitat Builders, led by Anton Finelli, who spent last Saturday putting the finishing touches on a Roslindale duplex.

JUST 34 DAYS UNTIL THE WALK FOR HUNGER – MAY 3RD! Over forty-six years, the Walk has generated more than a hundred million dollars through individual contributions of less than $100 - a powerful demonstration of neighbors caring for neighbors. WALK registration materials are available on the Outreach table and on entrance bulletin boards. Or, you can go to www.projectbread.org, find the Walk link and register, as

an individual or a member of TEAM IGNATIUS.

BLESSING OF EASTER FOOD: We will celebrate the Blessing of Easter Food on Holy Saturday morning, April 4th, at 11AM, in the Parish Center/Rectory Chapel (lower level). Many families begin their Easter celebration with this custom. Perhaps you would like to start this tradition (or continue it) in your family? COMING… Saturday, April 25th – Pine Street Inn Shattuck Shelter Springtime Meal. Sign-ups begin April 11th (for just two weekends). Saturday/Sunday, May 2nd/3rd – Spring Clothing Drive for St. Francis House Day Shelter.

EASTER VIGIL – PREPARE TO CELEBRATE

The St. Ignatius Community is invited to a reception after the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 4th. Hospitality will host the event in the Friary Room and is requesting donations of

appetizers and desserts. Food should be plated, bite-sized and a quantity of 2-3 dozen. Please drop items off Saturday morning between 9 am and 1 pm in the church kitchen or at 7:00 pm before the Vigil Mass. To contribute, please contact ASAP--Eileen [email protected].

COME MAKE THE CHURCH BLOOM FOR EASTER! Come help decorate the church for Easter on Saturday, April 4th, starting at 9:00 a.m. Come for a little time or come for the whole time: all ages and experiences are welcome to come! For more information, contact Catherine Downing at 617-782-5812 or at [email protected]

En el amor de Cristo, Padre Bob WELLNESS PROGRAM - FLOW YOGA SATURDAY, APRIL 4TH - 9:00-10:15 AM Parishioner Sandy Clancy is a registered yoga teacher who will lead a flow yoga class appropriate for people of all fitness levels. She offers instruction in breathing and meditation. Sandy believes that yoga is truly for every body and that all yoga poses can be modified to accommodate every body safely. In her class you will move, stretch, strengthen and deeply relax. The Program will be held at the BC Brighton Dance Studio at 2115 Commonwealth Ave. (across the street from BC, on the School of Theology and Ministry campus). Equipment: Please bring a yoga mat, and if you have them, yoga blocks to class.

EASTER PLANT DONATIONS
