The Year of St. Joseph Bilingual Rosary and Mass.
The next and last one will be on Wednesday, Dec. 8th on the
Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Dear Family! This Sunday is the second to last Sunday of the church year. The following Sunday we will celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. The readings logically speak about the ‘last things’ (Eschatology). The parable of the fig tree sprouting its leaves points us to late spring and early summer which reminds us of good times for the people. For us Catholic Christians, the end of the world is not God losing control of the earth, rather God bringing things to a triumphant end. The Book of Daniel is considered the first of the apocalyptic literature in the Bible and is filled with joy and hope in the kingdom ruled directly by the Lord. This type of literature is filled with mysterious language in which everything has a symbolic value: numbers, colors, animals, types of clothing etc. and they should be carefully decoded. The Gospel also opens with the typical images of the apocalyptic literature: The sun will grow dark, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall out of the sky, and the whole universe will be shaken (vv24-25). Jesus takes these images to console them and not frighten them. Plagues, famines, violence and persecutions which they must confront are signs of a world still dominated by evil but as Christians we are people of hope. Also the end of the liturgical year reminds us of God’s presence among us, with all those painful challenges this year brought to us mainly due to COVID-19. It is our Christian Hope that kept us going. With the Solemnity of Christ the King, we conclude this liturgical year and welcome the next with the first week of Advent. May God continue to strengthen us in hope. Amen Fr. Antony

This weekend there is a special second collection for Works of Mercy for our parish. This will go towards our Social Concerns Ministry.
Prayer Builds Community (PBC) A Pastor is primarily an intercessor for his people. He is the one entrusted with the care of the souls in the parish. A pastor’s priority is his people, praying for them; offering masses for them and leading them to God. Every week Father will remember three families of the parish in his daily morning prayer which is at 7:45 before mass (8:00am) and in his personal prayer. Whoever wants to join Father in praying for these intended families every week, you are encouraged to call the office, thus you could join Father in this important ministry. Please call the Parish Office if your family is in need of prayers.
This week we are praying for the following families: McDevitt and Rossi

Querida familia!

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Knights of Columbus Supporting Seminarians! One of more important projects involves supporting seminarians on the journey to the priesthood. Over the past 3 of 4 years we sponsored Fr. Tim Eck of Blairstown, who was ordained this past May. Our council was involved in his celebration and attended his first mass at St. Jude’s. Our current seminarian is Randy Gamboa Espinosa, one of 21 Seminarians with the Metuchen Diocese. Randy is from Cost Rica and is currently in his second year of Theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary in South Orange, NJ. Periodically, we will keep you updated on Randy’s progress. Please keep him and the other seminarians in your prayers as they continue their journey to the priesthood. For further information, contact Ed Shellman at [email protected]
During this uncertain time, making wise
financial decisions is more important than ever. Since 1882, sparked by the foresight of Father Michael J McGivney, the Knights of Columbus has been committed to bring financial security to Catholic families. The Knights provide financial products such as Life insurance, disability insurance, annuities, and long-term care insurance to protect your family. I would welcome the opportunity to meet with your family to assure you have the best advice on planning for your family’s financial protection. Contact Gerald Tatarka at 973-713-3394

Shoprite and Weis cards for sale after all Masses. You
shop and use them for payment of your groceries and our church receives 5% back from these stores! Doesn’t cost you anything. Our church can received $104,000 in 1 year if 200 families bought $200 worth of gift cards a week. A family of 4 can easily spend $200 a week for groceries per week. So we would get 5% of that $200 which equals $10 a week from 200 families. So $10 X 200 = $2000. Times that by 52 weeks a year $2000. X 52 = $104,000. You spend the same amount you normally would for groceries but purchase the gift cards from our church and we make the profit from Shoprite or Weis Supermarkets. PLEASE CONSIDER USING THIS SIMPLE FUNDRAISER.
Adsumus, Sancte Spiritus Prayer of invocation to the Holy Spirit for an
ecclesial assembly of governance or discernment (thus synodal)
Every session of the Second Vatican Council began with the prayer Adsumus Sancte Spiritus, the first word of the Latin original meaning, “We stand before You, Holy Spirit,” which has been historically used at Councils, Synods and other Church gatherings for hundreds of years, being attributed to Saint Isidore of Seville (c. 560 - 4 April 636). As we are called to embrace this synodal path of the Synod 2021-2023, this prayer invites the Holy Spirit to operate within us so that we may be a community and a people of grace. For the Synod 2021-2023, we propose to use this simplified version, so that any group or liturgical assembly can pray more easily. We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name. With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it. We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder. Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions. Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right. All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen. Title revised from Latin, to have a proper incipit, different from the Adsumus Dominus Sancte Spiritus. The Caeremoniale Episcoporum 1984ss., n. 1173, only proposes the use of the Adsumus but does not give the text. The German version Das Zeremoniale für die Bischöfe, n. 1188, gives a German translation based on the Latin text of the Acta Synodalia of the Council, vol. I/1, p. 159.
