From Fr. John
Happy Easter to All On behalf of all the clergy and staff here at Holy Spirit, I want to extend my sincerest best wishes for a Happy Easter to you and your families. Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus is the most important teaching of our faith. As such, the Season of Easter runs for seven weeks and culminates with the celebration of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Feast of Pentecost, this year, on Sunday May 20th. Of course, as you know, Pentecost Sunday is also our parish feast. It is also the day we mark our parish anniversary, now in its 53rd year. Plans are underway to mark the day with a special Mass at 12 noon followed by a family barbecue and various family activities here on the grounds. Stay tuned for more information and mark the date, Sunday, May 20th. Additionally, in the week leading up to Pentecost Sunday, we will hold a Parish Mission, Monday, May 14, Tuesday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 16, in the Church each evening beginning at 7:30pm. The Mission will provide an opportunity to prepare spiritually for the great celebration of Pentecost. The Mission will be preached by Fr. Jack Rapschmidt, a Franciscan priest from White Plains. While you will be learning more about him as we draw closer to the dates, Fr. Rapschmidt comes highly recommended and I believe he will prove to be an excellent preacher for us. Confirmation Class of 2018
Recently, the Confirmation Candidates of Holy Spirit Religious Education held a Penance Service at which they went to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Also we are gathering with candidates and their parents in April for a couple of Confirmation Seminars. It’s all part of making more immediate preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday, May 19th. Bishop Gerald Walsh will confer the Sacrament. Please continue to keep them and their families in your prayers.
The next series of Bereavement Support Group Meetings will begin on Tuesday, April 17th at 7:30pm in the Rectory Conference Room. They will continue each Tuesday, April 24th, May 1st and 8th at 7:30pm. Please call me at Rectory Office to register. We encourage everyone who may be feeling overwhelmed by the loss of a loved one to join us. We have a fine group of facilitators who assist me in running the meetings. He is Risen, Alleluia—Happy Easter!!... Fr. John
