Rukumberi Reports - Last Day - Batsinda
Orphanage (8th November 2016)
We spent the day with the kids @ Batsinda. We
first picked up Bibles including Children’s Bibles
with Pictures for the Young ones, before getting
Bananas, Bread, Biscuits & Fanta for Lunch with the
Kids! We arrived & had Prayers, Words of
encouragement & Bible Teaching.
One of the Boys aged 12
then preached to us on
Psalm 118: 8-9 & Psalm
118: 26-27 - an amazing
Testimony of the change in
his Life.
We then distributed Gifts
from Sponsors, Team
Football Strips for everyone & Bibles.
Lunch followed along with Football & Games,
before it was sadly time to leave these wonderful
Children, who are so happy to be removed from
the Street & have a changed life, through the work
of Comfort Rwanda & Gasana David.
We then raced through the maze of dirt road short-
cuts thanks to our Amazing Driver (Mzungo Derek),
picked up handmade Crafts to bring home, met
another 5 sponsor kids & then back to Solace
Guesthouse.
Bags packed, closing meeting with everyone from
Solace Rukemberi Team & then onto Airport.
What a wonderful, short,
action-packed, challenging,
rewarding, God exalting
Mission we have been
blessed to be a part of.
We are so thankful for everyone’s Prayers,
Donations & Messages of Support from you all
back home (you know who you are) - you have
given us the strength & support to ‘Go & Give’ and
to bless the communities we work with.
I will sign off with this to show you the gratitude of
the People here:-
One of my God-Children (Callixte) from Rukemberi
who I met yesterday, took a pedal-bike taxi, then a
bus, then walked to Solace in Kigali (a journey of
around 4hrs each way) to hand deliver Thank-you
cards & a Gift for Lee-Ann, Connor, Hannah & me,
at his own expense - knowing that we would not be
there to meet him (he left them at Reception for
us).
I am truly blown away by this young man’s selfless
gesture - what an inspiration to go the extra mile
for someone else!
Derek Patterson
(with Connor Patterson, Sam Bunch & John Best)
Please send any queries about the group to Derek
Patterson or email [email protected] and
it will be passed along to the Rwanda committee.
