password. Click the Forgot your password? link below the password field if you cannot remember.

• You will now be logged in to your Jabber client.

• In the top Menu Bar, highlight Jabber, then choose Preferences.

• In the Preferences menu, you will notice tabs along the top.

• Locate the Accounts tab and click it to continue.

• In Accounts, we need to enter username and password information in order to connect the Jabber desktop client to your telephone and voicemail.

• Your username and password for

Phone Services will be your

Communications Manager

username and password.

• Your Voicemail username and

password is your Unity Connection

username and password.

• Click Apply.

• The system will verify your

credentials.

• Next, click on WebEx Meeting in the Accounts window.

• You will see your default Cisco WebEx account information displayed, but you must enter your username and password to verify the connection.

• Click the arrow next to your site name, then Edit Meeting Site in the drop list.

• Click on the name of your WebEx site to bring up the Credentials window.

• Enter your email address in the Username field, then enter your WebEx password in the Password field.

• Click Verify to test the

connection. Once

verified, click Done, then

click Apply in the main

Accounts window and

close the window.

• You will notice your Presence Status under your name. When you first log in the color icon will be green and your status set to available.

• To change your presence status, click the arrow next to your status and select one of the status options: Green for Available, Yellow for Away, or Red for Do Not Disturb.

• Your status will change

automatically to Away when you

lock your computer or there has

been no activity for a default of

15 minutes on your computer.

• Your status will automatically

change to In a Meeting when

you join a WebEx meeting.

• You can also create your own custom Presence Status to provide more meaningful information to your colleagues.

• In the status menu, select the type of status you wish to create: Custom Available, Custom Away or Custom Do Not Disturb.

• When you select a Custom option, you will be provided with a blank space to type your custom status message.

Press enter on

your keyboard to

set the status.

NOTE: Be aware that anything

you type as your custom status

will be visible to everyone in

the company, so keep it

professional!

• To make a call, enter the telephone number or extension in the Search or Call bar below your name.

• Press enter or click the Call icon to place the call.

• To call someone in your contact list, either put your cursor over their name to reveal the Call icon, or control-click, select Call, then click the phone number you wish to call for that contact.

• When you receive a call from someone within your company, you will see a notice pop up on your screen giving you the option to start a Chat, Decline (send to voicemail) or Answer the call.

• External callers will not offer you the Chat reply option.

• Once connected, the Call Window will appear. This allows you to Mute Audio , Mute Video , control the Volume , open the Dial Pad to enter more digits, or press the Ellipses for more options, or Hang Up .

• At the top of the window, you have options for sending a Chat, starting a WebEx, begin Desktop Share, send an Email, or change your Options.

• If you are calling an internal colleague with a video capable device, you have the option to add video to your calls when using Jabber for Mac as a soft phone.

• When you add video, your call window will change to show only a video screen. Self-view will enable by default. If you hold your cursor over the video window, call control options will appear.

• As you begin to build out your Contact List, you will need to create Contact Groups.

• Contact Groups allow you put similar contacts together in a drop-down Contact List, making it easier to search for colleagues by department or project teams.

• To create a group, highlight Contacts in the top Jabber Menu Bar, then select Add Group.

• Create a name for your new Contact Group in the space provided, then click OK.

• Your new Contact Group will now be available in the Contact Tab. You can drag and drop existing contacts into the new Contact Group, or choose it when adding a new contact.

• Now lets add some colleagues to our Contact List so we can view their presence.

• In the Search or Call bar, enter the first or last name of a colleague. The client will begin to search for a match. The more you type, the fewer results you will get.

• When you locate the colleague you wish to add, float your cursor over the person’s name to open the Interaction Options.

• You can interact directly with the colleague from here. Interaction Options are dependent upon the capabilities of the devices the colleague is using and their Presence status.

• If this is a colleague you interact with on a regular basis, you may wish to add them to your contact list. To do this, highlight Add to Group from the Interaction Options window and choose the appropriate Contact Group.

• To view interaction options with a person in your contact list, click their name to bring up their interaction options.

• You can choose to Chat , start a Call, start a Meeting , begin a Desktop Share or send an Email .

When you double-click a contact, the default behavior is to begin a chat session.

• Your Jabber Client may be used as a Soft Phone, or may be configured to control your Cisco IP Phone.

• In the bottom left corner of your client, you will notice the telephone options icon that looks like this: , indicating you are in Soft Phone mode.

• Your default setting is Use My Computer for Calls. This means Jabber is working as a Soft Phone and will use your computer’s microphone and speaker for phone calls.

• You can also have Jabber control your Cisco IP Phone. When in Desk Phone Mode, when you make or receive calls using your Jabber client, your Cisco IP Phone will automatically go into Speaker Phone mode for the conversation.

• To put the Jabber client into Desk Phone Mode, select Use My Desk Phone for Calls.

• You may also forward your phone line from your Jabber client.

• When you forward your line, it will effect your line on all devices assigned to you, and will remain forwarded even after you exit the Jabber client.

• Click the Telephone Options icon, then select Forward Calls To…

• Select Voicemail to send calls to your mailbox, or Enter a Number to forward to another telephone number.

To turn off Call Forward,

select Do Not Forward

Calls.

• In the Call Log tab, you can view a listing of all calls you have made, received, or missed.

• Use the filter at the top right of the tab to view All calls, or only Missedcalls.

• The symbol to the left of the caller’s name indicates the type of calls; Placed , Received , or Missed .

• A numeric indication of the number of unread missed calls will appear on the tab.

Hint: Control-Click any

entry for contact options.

• The Jabber client interfaces with your Unity Connection Voicemail to deliver all your voice messages in a handy interactive list.

• When you receive a voice message, you will see a numeric indication on the tab, and new voice messages will be displayed in bold.

• Click on the message to Play, Deleteor Call the person leaving the message. Control-click for more options.

• If it is an internal caller, you will be able to view the presence information for that person right from this window.

• The Meetings tab of your Jabber client has the ability to display any scheduled WebEx meetings you have either created or accepted.

• When your meeting is about to begin, Jabber will pop up a notification, including one-click access to your meeting, or you may Start or Join your meeting from the Meetings tab directly.

• You may also start an instant meeting with another person or people by clicking the Instant Meeting button at the bottom of the window.

• You may connect a headset to your computer to use when using Jabber in Soft Phone mode, as well as select your Video device.

• In the Preferences panel, select the Audio/Video tab.

• In the drop down, select the devices you wish to use for your Camera, Microphone, Audio Call Output and Ringer & Alerts.

• Jabber will automatically change to Away when there has been no activity on your computer for a default of 15 minutes. You can set this timer to any number of minutes, or uncheck the option to not ever automatically show you as away.

• In the Preferences panel, select the Status tab.

• You can integrate your Jabber client with your Mac Address Book. This allows you to use Jabber to call contacts directly form your Mac Address Book.

• Open the Preferences panel, and choose the General Tab.

• Click on Install Mac Address Book Plug-in… This will not require a reboot of your computer or Jabber client.

• Check Enable Mac Address Book integration.

• Open your Mac Address Book, click on a person’s name to bring up their contact information.

• Click on the Phone Number entry for the contact, and you will see the option to Dial With Cisco Jabber.

• Select the Calls tab in your Preferences window, then choose Advanced.

• Here you may change the default behavior for video, and also choose whether the phone window will remain on top of all open applications.

• Start practicing Chat and Calls with your colleagues.
