Benefits and Exclusions

Part 1: Definitions

Certain words have specific meanings when they appear in this policy. These meanings are shown below or in the section

where they apply. They are printed in bold type. Any other words not appearing in the definition section will follow the

English language definition:

Accident – a sudden, unforeseen and unusual specific event that happens unexpectedly caused solely and directly by

violent, external and visible means which occur at an identifiable time and place resulting in injury during an insured trip

and which is the sole and direct cause of accidental death or disablement Accidental death – loss of life due to an accident as determined by a physician/medical Practitioner. Beneficiary – the person or persons nominated by the insured person as stated on the policy schedule, if not

mentioned then the beneficiary will be the legal heirs of the insured person. Children/child – biological off-springs, legally adopted or fostered children of the insured person who are not in full-

time employment, unmarried, not pregnant, without children, primarily dependant on the insured person for support

and who are between the ages of three (3) months and eighteen (18) years. Confined/confinement – an insured person is registered as an in-patient in a hospital for a medical treatment for an

injury or illness upon the recommendation of a medical practitioner and continuously stays in the hospital prior to his/her

discharge from the hospital. Hospital confinement will be evidenced by a daily room and board charge by the hospital. Close business partner – a person working for the same company or a close business partner of the insured person

whose absence from work along with you would prevent the proper functioning of the company, as confirmed by an officer

documentation, which is acceptable to us.

Close relative – spouse, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, son or daughter, son or daughter-in-law, brother or sister,

brother or sister-in-law, grandchild, legal guardian, children or fiancé(e) of the insured person. Compulsory quarantine – the insured person is being confined in an isolated ward of a hospital

or an isolated site appointed by the government for at least one (1) full week and continuously stays in there until

discharged from the quarantine. Curtailment/curtail – abandoning or cutting short of the insured trip after its commencement by immediate return

to the country of residence due to a covered incidence. Excess the first amount of any claim for which you are responsible to pay for any one event. Or the amount we will

subtract from any covered loss that we pay. Or the time period during which any claim will not be paid. If claims are

made under two or more covers, for loss or damage caused by the same insured incidence at the same time, excess shall

apply for each section as stated in the policy schedule. Family – the insured person, spouse and unlimited number of children. Follow-up medical expenses follow-up outpatient medical treatment necessary incurred following an in-patient

treatment for any actual and necessary medical expenses charged by a medical practitioner in the country of residence

for the continuation of medical treatment sought by the insured person for injury or illness sustained during the insured

person’s insured trip and within three (3) months after the insured person’s return to the country of residence. Hijack – the unlawful, wrongful or illegal seizure or exercise of control of an aircraft or public common carrier in

which the insured person is travelling in as a passenger. Hospital – Any licensed medical institution which meets the following criteria:

• It has full time facilities for overnight patients. • It has facilities for surgery, medical diagnosis and treating injured and sick people. • It is run by medical practitioner(s). • It provides 24-hour nursing supervised by state registered nurses. • It is not a medical institution specialised in training and education, a nursing or convalescent home, a

hospice or place for the terminally ill, a residential care home, or a place for drug addicts or alcoholics. Home/country of residence your normal place of residence or dwelling in the United Arab Emirates of which you are a citizen or

hold a valid resident status as of the time of your insured trip Illness/ill – sudden and unforeseen change in health, sickness or disease of the insured person contracted and

commenced during the insured trip as certified by a physician. The illness must be serious enough to consult a physician

for the purpose of medical treatment and for which prevents the normal continuation of the insured trip. Infectious disease – any kinds of infectious disease which are publicly announced and require quarantine by the

government. Injury – bodily injury sustained in an accident directly and independently of all other causes and which occurs during

an insured trip. Insured trip – a trip not exceeding the period of travel and within the area of travel shown in the policy schedule that

begins and ends in the country of residence during the insurance period And for whom the appropriate insurance

premium has been paid. When applied to single trip, it means the period of travel commencing from the time when the insured person departs

from the country of residence immigration department office/counter and until the time when the insured person:

1) returns to the country of residence immigration department office/counter; or 2) the expiry date mentioned on the policy schedule, whichever first occurs.

When applied to annual multi-trip, it means the period of travel commencing from the time when the insured person

departs from the country of residence immigration department office/counter and until the time when the insured

person

1) returns to the country of residence immigration department office/counter and recommence on the insured

person next insured trip; or 2) the expiry date mentioned on the policy schedule, whichever first occurs.

Insurance period – the application date of this policy where all covers end on the expiry date shown on the policy

schedule. Trip cancellation cover commences from the issue date shown on the policy schedule or the date of booking any insured

trip, whichever is the later, and terminates at the beginning of the insured trip. The cover for all other sections of this

policy starts at the beginning of the insured trip and terminates at the end of the insured trip. Insured person/you/your/yours – any person specified as an eligible person in the policy schedule whose name is

reported to the policyholder and the appropriate insurance premium has been paid and accepted for coverage. The

insured person is not a contracting insured under the policy with us. Our agreement is entered into with the

policyholder. Laptop computer – such as but not limited to: a laptop, notebook or sub-notebook computer. Personal digital

assistant (PDA), hand-held computer (HHC), electronic tablets and alike. Loss of limb – loss by physical separation at or above the wrist or ankle joint or permanent total functional disablement

of an entire hand or foot as determined by a physician/medical practitioner Loss of sight – the entire and permanent irrecoverable loss of sight in one or both eyes as determined by a physician/medical

practitioner Loss of hearing – as determined by a physician/medical practitioner, permanent irrecoverable loss of hearing where: If (a) dB = Hearing loss at 500 Hertz If (b) dB = Hearing loss at 1,000 Hertz If (c) dB = Hearing loss

at 2,000 Hertz If (d) dB = Hearing loss at 4,000 Hertz

1/6 (a+2b+2c+d) is above 80dB. Loss of speech – as determined by a physician/medical practitioner, the disability in articulating any three (3) of the four

(4) sounds which contribute to the speech such as the labial sounds, the alveololabial sounds, the palatal sounds and the

velar sounds or total loss of vocal cord or damage of speech centre in the brain resulting in aphasia. Loss of use – permanent total functional disablement or complete and permanent physical separation at or above the

wrists or ankle joints as determined by a physician/medical practitioner Manual labour – physical labour involving the use of hands or the use or operation of mechanical or non-mechanical

machinery or equipment. Medical condition – the unforeseen and emergent occurrence of symptoms for a disease, Illness or injury which, unless treated

immediately by a physician, may lead to death or serious impairment of your health Medical expenses – reasonable expenses incurred from the first day of sustaining an Injury or illness during the insured

trip which are paid by the insured person to a legally qualified medical practitioner, hospital and/or ambulance service for

medical, surgical, X-ray, hospital or nursing treatment including the cost of medical supplies and ambulance hire. All

treatments must be prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner in order for expenses to be reimbursed under this

policy. In the event an insured person becomes entitled to a refund of all or part of such expenses from any other source,

we will only be liable for the excess of the amount recoverable from such other sources.

Money – bank and currency notes and coins in legal tender, cash, cheques, travellers cheques, postal or money orders,

pre-paid coupons or vouchers, travel tickets, postage stamps, savings stamps, pre-booked event and entertainment

tickets, luncheon vouchers, phone cards, pre-paid electronic money cards, mobile phone vouchers, reward vouchers,

or gift tokens all held for personal or charitable purposes and includes the wallet or purse in which money is carried. Personal baggage – your clothing and personal effects, suitcases (or similar) taken on or purchased during an

insured trip including valuables. Permanent total disablement – disablement which for fifty two (52) consecutive weeks immediately following an

accident entirely prevents the insured person from attending their usual occupation if employed, or if not employed,

from attending employment of any and every kind. Disablement at the end of that time should be beyond reasonable

hope of improvement, total, continuous and permanent. Physician/medical practitioner – a person other than the insured person, close relative or anybody travelling with the

insured person who is qualified by degree in western medicine and legally authorised in the geographical area of his/her

practice to render medical and surgical services. Policyholder – the named company, legal entity or employer listed as the policyholder in the policy schedule and

signatory of this document with whom we enter into the policy. They are the contracting insured.

Policy schedule – all issued policy documents outlining information and policy details such as, but not limited to,

terms and conditions, premium, covers/benefits and limits, enclosed cover(s), extensions, exclusions and conditions,

along with any endorsements issued. Pre-existing medical conditions – the insured person received medical treatment, diagnosis consultation or prescribed

drugs, or medical condition for which the insured person is on a waiting list for hospital in-patient treatment. Or an

ongoing or recurring medical condition for which medical advice or treatment was recommended by a medical

practitioner within a two (2) year period preceding the insured trip. Public common carrier – any mechanically propelled conveyance operated by a company or an individual licensed to

carry passengers for hire, including but not limited to aircraft, bus, coach, ferry, hovercraft, hydrofoil, ship, train, tram

or underground train. Spouse – a person who has a legitimate marital contract to the insured person as recognised by

United Arab Emirates laws between the ages of eighteen (18) years and seventy (70) years. Sum insured – maximum amount payable under each cover of the policy schedule as set to be payable by the policy’s

terms and conditions. Terrorism – an act of terrorism includes any act, preparation or threat of action of any person or group(s) of persons

whether acting alone or on behalf of or in connection with any organization(s) or government(s) de jure or de facto

committed for political, religious, ideological, or similar purposes, including the intention to influence any government de

jure or de facto of any nation

or any political division thereof and/or to intimidate the public or any section of the public of any nation and which

• Involves violence against one or more persons; or • Involves damage to property; or • Endangers life other than that of the person committing the action; or • Creates a risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public; or • Is designed to interfere with or disrupt an electronic system.

Theft – the wrongful, illegal and unauthorised acquisition or using of another person’s property which must be

accompanied by a guilty mind of dishonesty and/or the intent to permanently deprive the owner or the person with

rightful possession of that property or its use.

Third party – a person who is not related to the insured person and not an insured person under this policy, close

relative, close business partner or travel companion. Travel companion – a person with whom you are travelling or have arranged to travel with to the same destination on

the same date and on the same Public common carrier Valuables – watches, furs, binoculars, telescopes, audio and video and photographic equipment, jewellery, precious

metals or stones, or items made from precious metals or stones, fine arts and antiques, pictures or other works of art,

collections of stamps or coins or musical instruments. War – a contest by force between two or more nations, carried on for any purpose; or armed conflict of sovereign

powers; or declared or undeclared and open hostilities; or the state of nations among whom there is:

• An interruption of peaceful relations and • A general contention by force, both authorised by the sovereign.

Part 2: Benefits and covers These covers only apply if shown in your policy schedule and up to the maximum amount shown. Section A: Personal accident We will pay the insured person or beneficiary a lump sum payment up to the maximum amount shown on the

policy schedule, in accordance with the percentage stated in the compensation table hereunder, if during the insured

trip the insured person suffers an injury from an accident resulting in an Event outlined in the compensation table

hereunder.

Subject to the following provisions and limitations: • Injury results in any Event listed in the Compensation Table within fifty two (52) consecutive weeks after the date of

the accident. • Compensation not being paid, as a result of an accident, if the insured person is merely unable to take part in

sports, pastimes and social activities. • Benefit shall not be payable for more than one (1) of the Events listed above in respect of the same accident. Should

more than one (1) of the Events occur from the same accident, only the Event with the highest compensation will be

payable under this section. • The insurance for any insured person under this policy shall terminate upon the occurrence of any compensation for

which indemnity is payable under any one (1) of the above Events, but such termination shall be without prejudice to any

claim originating out of the accident causing such loss. • When a limb or organ which had been partially disabled prior to an injury covered under this policy and which

becomes totally disabled as a result of such injury, the Percentage of Maximum Benefits payable shall be determined by us

having regard to the extent of disablement caused by the injury. However, no payment shall be made in respect of the loss of a limb or organ which was totally disabled prior to the

injury. • Compensation to children being limited to 10% of the sum insured and up to a maximum of $25,000 and subject

to the Percentage of Maximum Benefits as stated in the above Compensation Table. Subject to the following extensions: Under this section, we extend to pay;

• Disappearance clause: If the body of the insured person has not been found within fifty two (52) consecutive

weeks after the date of the disappearance and a death certificate issued from the country of residence officials due to

disappearance, sinking or wrecking of the aircraft or other public common carrier in which the insured person was

travelling at the time of the accident and under such circumstances as would otherwise be covered hereunder, it will be

presumed that the insured person suffered death resulting from an accident covered by this policy at the time of such

disappearance, sinking or wrecking.

Section B: Personal accident (common carrier) We will pay the insured person or beneficiary a lump sum payment up to the maximum amount shown on

the policy schedule, in accordance with the percentage stated in the compensation table hereunder, if during

the insured trip the insured person suffers an injury from an accident; when riding solely as a passenger (not

as operator, pilot, or crew member) in or on, boarding or alighting from any public common carrier, resulting

in an Event outlined in the compensation table hereunder

to the injury. • Compensation to children being limited to 10% of the sum insured and up to a maximum of $25,000

and subject to the Percentage of Maximum Benefits as stated in the above Compensation Table.

Subject to the following extensions: Under this section, we extend to pay;

Section C: Personal baggage We will reimburse the insured person up to the maximum amount shown on the policy schedule, and

subject to the sub-limits shown below, for the accidental loss of, damage to or theft of the personal

baggage, including company possessions which would be normally carried by the insured person, during the

insured trip which are normally worn or carried by and owned by the insured person Subject to the following provisions and limitations: • We may, at our option, make payment, reinstate or repair subject to due allowance for wear and tear and

depreciation. • If any damaged article is proven to be beyond economical repair, a claim will be dealt with as if the article

has been lost. • Sub-limits for personal baggage are as follows:

– per bag or luggage limit shall not exceed 50% of the maximum amount shown on the policy

schedule in respect of any one insured person – per item limit shall not exceed 10% of the maximum amount shown on the policy schedule for any one article, pair, set or collection in respect of any one insured person – per valuable limit shall not exceed 25% of the maximum amount shown on the policy

schedule in respect of any one insured person. • Theft to personal baggage during the insured trip which are normally worn or carried by and

owned by the insured person up to 50% of the maximum amount shown on the policy schedule. Subject to the following exclusion(s): This section does not cover:

• Theft to personal baggage is excluding company possessions which would be normally carried by the

insured person. • The following classes of property: business goods or sample, foodstuffs and/or medicine, contact lenses,

dentures and/or its appliances, animals, motor vehicles (including accessories), motorcycles, bicycles, boats, motors,

or any other conveyances, household furniture, antiques, jewellery or accessories, mobile phone (including PDA

phone and other accessories), money (including cheques, traveller’s cheques, etc), plastic money (including the

credit value of credit card, debit cards, etc), coupons or securities, bonds, negotiable instruments, tickets or

documents. • Laptop computer.

• Any loss or damage caused by wear, tear, gradual deterioration, insects, vermin, corrosion, rot, mildew,

fungus, atmospheric conditions, the action of light, any process of heating, drying, cleaning, dyeing,

alteration or repair, scratching, denting, breakdown, misuse, faulty workmanship or design, the use of

faulty materials, or its resulting loss or damage. • Any loss or damage resulting directly or indirectly from insurrection, rebellion, revolution,

civil war, usurped power, terrorism, or action taken by government authorities in hindering, combating or

defending against such an occurrence; destruction under quarantine or customs regulations, confiscation or

detention by customs or other government officials or risk of contraband or illegal transportation or trade. • Any loss of or damage to property which resumes to function normally after it has been fixed or repaired

by a third party with no additional costs incurred to the insured person. • Sports equipment in use. • Any loss of data recorded on tapes, cards, diskettes and alike.

• Damage to any brittle or fragile items such as, but not limited to, glass or crystal. • Any loss of or damage to property while in the custody of a hotel or public common carrier, unless

reported immediately on discovery in writing to such hotel or public common carrier within three (3) days

and a Property Irregularity Report is obtained in the case of the event occurred in an airline. • Any loss, damage or theft not substantiated by travel tickets, tags and relevant receipts. • Any loss not reported to the local police or public authority within twenty-four (24) hours of discovery and

such report is not obtained. • Any loss or damage not substantiated by written confirmation from the public common carrier where the loss or

damage occurred in their custody. • Valuables in transit on an insured trip and not in your custody or control. • Any loss of or damage to property not being on the same public common carrier of the

insured person, or souvenirs and articles mailed or shipped separately. • Any loss of property when it is left unattended in public place, in unlocked vehicle or in vehicle which is left

unattended with no one inside. • The insured person not taking all normal precautions to secure the safety of or minimise loss or damage to

his/her personal baggage, and must not leave it unsecured or unattended at any time in a place to which the

public have access. • Any property which is lost, stolen or damaged whilst being shipped as freight or under a bill of lading. • Loss of or damage to property left unattended unless

– left in your locked accommodation throughout the insured trip

– left in the locked boot, locked covered luggage area or locked glove compartment of a motor vehicle

and following physical evidence of forcible entry

– to film other than its value as unused material • Theft due to unattended property. • Theft carried out directly or indirectly by close relatives, close business partners or travel companion. • Theft by deception.

Section D: Baggage delay We will reimburse the insured person up to the maximum amount shown on the policy schedule,

subject to any excess, in the event the insured person’s checked-in baggage being delayed or temporarily

misplaced by the public common carrier upon arrival at the scheduled destination abroad, for the

following: • The actual costs of emergency purchase of essential clothing, medication or toiletries. Subject to

the following provisions and limitations:

• Claims in respect of essential clothing or requisites purchased as a result of delayed baggage will only be

considered if items have been purchased within four (4) days after the actual arrival time at the scheduled

destination. Subject to the following exclusion(s): This section does not cover:

• Any baggage not being on the same public common carrier of the insured person or souvenirs

and articles mailed or shipped separately.

• Any loss for which the insured person fails to submit receipts for the purchase of emergency items or

requisites. • Any loss not substantiated by written confirmation from the public common carrier on the number of

hours and the reason of such delay. • Loss resulting directly or indirectly from insurrection, rebellion, revolution, civil war, usurped power, terrorism,

or action taken by governmental authorities in hindering, combating or defending against such an occurrence;

detention or destruction under quarantine or customs regulations, confiscation by order of any government of

public authority or risk of contraband or illegal transportation or trade.

Section Y: Missed flight connection We will reimburse the insured person up to the maximum amount shown on the policy schedule, subject

to any excess, for the reasonable, necessary and additional expenses for replacement of flight ticket, in the

event the insured person unforeseeably and through no fault of his/her own is delayed by the public

common carrier during the insured trip to reach one connecting flight as specified in the insured person’s

original itinerary. Therefore, causing the insured person to miss the connecting flight to reach the final

destination as specified in the insured person’s original itinerary. Subject to the following provisions and limitations: • Means of transportation or flight ticket has been booked and paid for at least twenty four (24) hours before scheduled departure and not before the insurance period. • The insured person can only claim for either departure or arrival delay of the same public common

carrier. Subject to the following exclusion(s): This section does not cover:

• Any circumstances leading to the relevant delay of the connecting flight during the insured trip which is existing, expected to or announced before the insured trip was booked. • Any loss arising from late arrival of the insured person at the connecting airport or port (i.e. arrival at a time

later than the time required for check-in or booking-in except for the late arrival due to strike by the employees

of the public common carrier). • Any loss in relation to alternations to schedules that is not verified by the airline, travel agency or other

relevant organizations. • Any loss or circumstances covered by any other insurance scheme, government programme or which will be paid or refunded by travel agency, tour operator, public common carrier or other provider. • The delay is caused by the coach, train, ship or aircraft being ordered by a port authority or the civil aviation

authority or similar organisation to stop your insured trip. • The insured person decline an alternative service to be provided by the public common carrier. • Any loss not substantiated by written confirmation from the public common carrier on the reason for

such delay along with the relevant receipts. • Connecting flight waiting time in connecting airport is less than three (3) hours. Part 3: General exclusions

Applicable to all sections of the policy, we will not cover loss, injury, damage or legal liability caused by,

sustained, or arising directly or indirectly from:

1. Any pre-existing condition, congenital and hereditary condition.

2. Any illegal or unlawful act by the insured person or confiscation, detention, destruction by customs or

other authorities. 3. The insured person is not taking all reasonable efforts to safeguard his/her property/money, or to avoid

injury to minimize any claim under this insurance. 4. Riding or driving in any kind of motor racing, or engaging in a sport in a professional capacity or where

the insured person would or could earn income or remuneration from engaging in such sport. 5. Wilful or deliberate exposure to danger (except in an attempt to save human life), suicide or attempt

thereat, or intentional self-inflicted injury. 6. Insanity, mental or nervous disorders including, but not limited to, anxiety disorders, eating disorders,

psychotic disorders, affective disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorders, somatoform disorders,

dissociate disorders, psychosexual disorders, adjustment disorders, organic mental disorders, mental retardation

and autism. 7. a) Any condition under the influence of alcohol, drugs or narcotics (unless such drugs or narcotics were

administered by a medical practitioner or unless prescribed by and taken in accordance with the directions of

a medical practitioner). b) Alcohol abuse, alcoholism, substance abuse, solvent abuse, drug abuse or addictive conditions of any kind. c) An insured person being under the influence of alcohol with more than the legal limit of alcohol in

his/her blood or breath. d) An accident occurring whilst an insured person was driving a motor vehicle with more than the legal limit

of alcohol in his/her blood or breath.

8. Any condition resulting from pregnancy, childbirth or miscarriage, abortion, pre-natal care as well as post-

natal care and other complications arising therefrom, venereal disease, services and supplies related to the

diagnosis or treatment of infertility or other problems related to inability to conceive a child; birth control,

including surgical procedures and devices. 9. Congenital anomalies and conditions arising out of or resulting there from, and hernia. 10. Air travel where the insured person is acting as pilot or part of the aircraft crew other than as a fare-

paying passenger on a regular scheduled airline or licensed chartered aircraft. 11. Flying in any aircraft owned, leased or operated by or on behalf of an insured person, close relatives,

close business partners, travel companion, or policyholder or any subsidiary or affiliate of the

policyholder. 12. Engaging in any kind of manual labour work; engaging in offshore activities like commercial diving, oil

rigging, engaging in occupational activities underground or aerial photography; handling or requiring the use of

explosives, performing as an actor/actress, being a site worker, fisherman, cook or kitchen worker, tour guide or

tour escort; naval, military or air force service or operations or armed force services (including being in service or

on duty with or undergoing training with any military or police force, or militia or paramilitary organization). 13. Any injury, illness, death, loss, expense or other liability attributable to HIV (Human

Immunodeficiency Virus) and/or HIV-related illness including AIDS and/or any mutant derivative or

variations thereof however caused or however named. 14. Chronic fatigue syndrome or myalgic encephalomyelitis (M.E.) (anticardiolipin antibody positively) or

the illness commonly referred to as yuppie flu. 15. Any medical treatment received during an insured trip which was made for the purpose of receiving

medical treatment or if the insured trip was undertaken while the insured person was unfit to travel or the

insured person is travelling against the advice of a medical practitioner.

16. a) Any pre-existing medical condition; or b) Any cardiac or cardio vascular or vascular or cerebral vascular illness or conditions or sequelae thereof or

complications that, in the opinion of a medical practitioner appointed by us, can reasonably be related thereto,

if the insured person has received medical advice, treatment or prescribed medication for hypertension within 2

years prior to the commencement of the insured trip. 17. Any event arising from war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), civil

war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, labour disturbances, riot, strike or lockout, military force or coup. 18. Any expenses, consequential loss, legal liability or loss of or damage to any property directly or indirectly

arising from:

• Ionising radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste

from the combustion of nuclear fuel.

• The radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardous properties of any nuclear assembly or nuclear

component. 19. The release, the dispersal or application of pathogenic or poisonous biological or chemical

materials. 20. Deliberate violation of criminal law. 21. Default or insolvency of the public common carrier. 22. Consequential loss of any kind or financial loss and/or expense not otherwise specifically

covered. 23. Any type of adventure sports or extreme adventure sports (such as but not limited to, sky diving,

parachuting, hand gliding, bungee jumping, scuba diving or mountain climbing). 24. Personal baggage shall exclude money, contact or corneal lenses, mobile phone, negotiable instruments,

bonds, coupons, stamps, securities or other documents of any kind.

25. The cost of replacing any undamaged item or part of any item just because it forms part of a set, suite or

one of a number of items of a similar type, colour or design. 26. Any terrorist act or bomb incident or threat thereof. 27. The intentional use of military force to intercept, prevent, or mitigate any known or suspected terrorist act. 28. Any terrorist or member of a terrorist organization, narcotics trafficker, or purveyor of nuclear, chemical or

biological weapons. 29. Travel into or through Afghanistan or Iraq. 30. Notwithstanding anything agreed to the contrary expressly or implicitly under the terms of this insurance

contract, the following covers or activities are excluded under this contract: Insurance cover or any other

insurance related service for any exposure or business that would constitute any prohibited, embargoed or

otherwise sanctioned transaction under Relevant Sanction Laws, be it for reasons of its geographical location, be

it for the involved goods and services or other reasons as defined by the Relevant Sanction Laws, require a

payment in connection with any Specifically Designated National, Aircraft or Vessel or other person or entity

defined as improper beneficiary, insured exposure or business partner under any of the Relevant Sanction Laws

(SDN) or otherwise result in any breach of applicable Relevant Sanction Laws. Relevant Sanction Laws under this

contract are defined as follows:

Any law, regulation or similar rule relating to trade sanctions and/or embargoes imposed by any authority in/of:

(i) countries where any party to this contract is resident, domiciled or otherwise business active, (ii) the United

States of America, (iii) the United Kingdom, (iv) the United Nations and (v) the European Community.

31. Any sexually transmitted or transmissible disease, or infection or virus of any sort emanating from a

sexually transmitted or transmissible disease.

Part 4: General conditions

The following conditions apply to this insurance: 1. At the time of incepting this policy the insured person must be fit to travel; otherwise any claims shall

result in our right to repudiate liability under this policy. 2. All insured trips must commence in the country of residence 3. Our maximum liability to any one (1) accident per insured person shall not exceed the sum insured as

stated in the policy schedule under this policy. 4. If the same insured person is insured by more than one (1) voluntary travel insurance policy underwritten

by us and our affiliated companies respectively and claims for the same cover under such policies due to any

one (1) accident, only the policy with the greatest compensation for the same cover shall apply and our

aggregate liability under such policies shall not exceed the sum insured of the same cover under the policy

with the greatest compensation. 5. The maximum period of the insured trip for single trip travel plans and for annual multi-trip travel plans

cannot exceed the number of days available as detailed on the policy schedule. The maximum available days

per insured trip cannot exceed ninety two (92) days per trip. 6. Cover shall not be available for the insured person who is travelling on a one-way trip and is not

returning to the country of residence. 7. The insurance is only valid for conventional leisure travel or business travel (limited to administrative work

only). The insurance shall not apply to persons undertaking expeditions, manual labour or similar journey.

8. The insured person must be a valid and legal resident in the country of residence before issuance or

renewal of this policy. 9. The insured person must act in a reasonable way to look after himself/herself and his/her

property. 10. The policyholder must inform of any details which may affect our decision to accept this insurance (for

example, dangerous activities or a health condition) and if any of the information on which this insurance is based

changes. Failure to do so may result in this insurance no longer being valid and claims not met. If in doubt about

any change, please tell. If this policy is amended as a result of any change, we will be entitled to vary the

premium and terms for the rest of the insurance period. Record (including copies of letters) of all information

supplied to

in connection with this insurance should be kept. 11. The policyholder and/or insured person must take all reasonable steps to get back any lost or stolen

items, and must help the authorities to catch and charge any guilty people. 12. The policyholder and/or insured person must take all reasonable steps to avoid losing any item which

may mean that he/she have to make a claim under this insurance. 13. The policyholder and insured person must adhere to all the conditions and endorsements of this

insurance. If he/she does not, we may not pay his/her claim or reduce the amount of any claim payment. 14. The policyholder must help get back any amount that we have paid from anyone or from other insurers

by giving all the details we need and by filling in any forms. 15. The policyholder and/or insured person must give or Zurich Assist all the documents needed to deal

with any claim. We will not be responsible for any costs involved in doing this.

16. The policyholder and/or insured person must keep any items which are damaged and send them to or

Zurich Assist if requested. We will not pay any costs involved in doing so. 17. The insured person must agree to have a medical examination if requested by us. If insured person die,

we are entitled to have a post-mortem examination. 18. The policyholder and/or insured person must pay back any amounts that we have paid to him/her

which are not covered by this insurance, within one (1) month of our request. 19. If any item is found and returned to the policyholder or insured person after we have paid a claim,

then it will become our property and must be send back to We will not pay any costs involved in doing this. 20. The policyholder must pay the appropriate premium for the number of days covered under this policy. If

the insured person travel for more than the number of days he/she is covered for, he/she will not be

covered after the last day. 21. We may refuse to reimburse you or the policyholder for any expenses for which you or the

policyholder cannot provide receipts, bills or any claim supporting documents deemed necessary to process

the claim. 22. If any claim is covered by any other insurance, we will not pay for more than our share of that claim. 23. All claims arising from criminal incidents are to be supported and accompanied by a certified police

report. 24. Arising from the same cause or incidence, any loss claimed under Baggage delay shall be deducted

from the claim amount to be paid under Personal baggage, and vice versa. 25. Arising from strike or adverse weather conditions causing the insured person to cancel or curtail

his/her insured trip, any loss claimed under Trip cancellation and/or curtailment shall be deducted from

the claim amount to be paid under Flight delay and/or – Re-routing costs due to travel delay, and vice

versa.

26. We can, at any time, do the following: Take over the defence or settlement of any claim. Try to recover

expenses or compensation from any other third party at any time in your name or in the name of anyone else

claiming under this policy. Reserve the right to access any of your current or prior medical records in order to

finalize and/or proceed with the assessment of a claim and/or render medical assistance. By virtue of this clause,

the insured person and policyholder shall be deemed to have given s written consent to access any of

his/her current or prior medical records. Additionally any items which become the subject of a claim for damage

must be retained for our inspection and shall be forwarded to our Agents upon request at your or your legal

personal representative’s expense. All such items shall become our property following final settlement of the

claim.
