• Usingonly6% oftheAirForcebudget,theAirNationalGuardprovides19%oftheAirForce’stotalpersonneland30-40% oftheAirForcefighter,tankerandairliftcapacity.

• NationalGuardsmenservelongerandretirelaterthantheiractivecounterparts,maintainingexpertiseandincreasingthevalueofthetraining.

• An“as-needed” force,nearly85%oftheNationalGuardispart-time.

What Sequestration Means GlobalGuardian:ThiswasthefirstofseveralannualtrainingexercisestobecancelledinMarch2013.ThisimpactsreadinessnottomentiontheeconomyofSavannah.

TechnicianFurloughs: Economicimpacttostate,impactonshiftrotationsandmanningoffurloughstonearly2,000civiliantechnicians,facing20%paycut.

Degradedreadiness: InadditiontoGlobalGuardianandotherexercisesbeingcancelled,thetrainingthatisstillhappeningisalsoimpededduetotheavailabilityoftrainingammunition…thatisgoingtobeseverelyreduced.

Lesscommunitypresence: Inthewakeofsequestrationmanycommunityeventshavebeencancelled.Bands,colorguardsandstaticdisplayswillbefewduetocost.
