Dear Parents,

Last week we had final celebrations for our Year 12s with their graduation on Thursday morning and the Valedictory Dinner in the evening at the Convention Centre.

Congratulations to all students, and as they leave to commence the next exciting chapter in their lives, we wish them well and hope that they will keep in touch – once an Old Saint, always and Old Saint! Trouble Tree

She hired a plumber to help her restore an old farmhouse, and he had just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit, and his ancient one ton truck refused to start. While she drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited her in to meet his family. As they walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands. When opening the door, he underwent an amazing trans-formation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles, and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.Afterward, he walked back to the car. They passed the tree, and her curiosity got the better of her. She asked him about what she had seen him do earlier. “Oh, that’s my trouble tree,” he replied. “I know I can’t help having troubles on the job, but one thing’s for sure; those troubles don’t belong in the house with my wife and the children. So, I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning, I pick them up again. Funny thing is,” he smiled, “when I come out in the morning to pick ‘em up, there aren’t nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.”(Internet Site)

It was lovely to see all the girls graduate but very special to see Katricia receive the Charles Butcher Award for outstanding effort and Brianna receive the Indigenous Academic Award and the G&S Transport Trade Award. Well done to them both.

Brooke, Helena, Kate and Natalie all looked stunning at the Valedictory Dinner and it was lovely to spend the evening with members of their families on this special night.

On Friday night it was time for the Boarding House to say good-bye. It was a lovely relaxed and fun filled event and I hope it sent the Year 12s and their families away with some lovely memories. We also used the opportunity to officially unveil the dining room mural – well done to all those involved. It looks great.

Many thanks to Ketut and the kitchen staff who put on a wonder-ful array of food. It was the result of a week of hard work and

planning on top of their normal duties and it was very much ap-preciated by everyone who attended.

As for the rest of the weekend there was plenty of swimming and an outdoor movie night on Saturday.

Only one more weekend to go and we’ll be going to the Alice Springs Christmas Carnival on Friday and beach volleyball on Sat-urday and then of course there’s revising for exams and packing! A busy weekend ahead.

Boys’ Boarding News

It has been an excellent start to the second half of the term. Fol-lowing Exeat weekend the boarders returned to the house and began getting themselves organised and ready for a good, busy final four weeks.

On Saturday afternoon the boys, accompanied by Jono, Ash and myself headed to the oval for an afternoon of Archery. It was a lot of fun. The boys all got into the activity. There were lots of laughs and some good old fashioned competition. Summoning our inner Robin Hood, we practised shooting at varying distances. I think we were all amazed at actually how hard it was to get the correct aim and the perfect distance. Our respect level for the Longbow men of the past increased dramatically.

On Sunday the boys headed to Trephina Gorge. There was time for exploring, kicking a footy and having a BBQ lunch. It was a great bonding experience for the boys, a number of them had never been to Trephina Gorge before. Thank you to Luke Mash-ford and Ash for taking the boys out for the day.

Last Friday night was the Boarders Christmas Dinner. It was a formal event and the boys dressed up with tie. It was an excel-lent night full of games and fun. It is our final chance to wish the departing Year 12 students well. Thank you to Ketut, Lily and other staff members for all their hard work in preparing such a delicious meal.
