Poster Making
How can we tell people about this?
Anti-idling Campaign Anti-idling in Surrey:
• Surrey County Council installed anti-idling banners at the
approaches to Reigate Level Crossing
• Was deemed successful with downward trend in pollutants observed
near the level crossing
What YOU can do!
Ask drivers
to switch
engines off
when they
are parker
Tell them
how walking
and cycling
is better for
our air
Create
posters and
banners
informing
people not to
idle
Anti-Idling• The big number of cars, lorries and taxis make our air
very dirty and sometimes uncomfortable to breathe
• Many people who drive will leave their car engine on
when the car has stopped and parked
• If the engine is not switched off this is called idling
• Idling continues to emit pollution and affects air
quality
Anti-idling

up to 2 litres of
fuel per hour,
emitting over

saved £66,000
and 60,000
litres of fuel!
