Wednesday, December 14, 2016 – 6:45 p.m. in the school library/Johnson HallThe Blessed Virgin Mary (Catechist: Mary Rickrich)What the Catholic Church teaches about the Mother of Christ and her place in Catholic devotion relative to Christ and to the saintsNOTE: We will first gather in the school library for topic presentation, then move to Johnson Hall for the Our Lady of Guadalupe Dinner and Celebration at 7:30 p.m.

The ROSARY… and the Jubilee Museum and Catholic Culture Center…

When it comes to true Christmas spirit, nothing matches the joy of setting up a Nativity scene in your home. Can you imagine yourself in the midst of 230 Nativity scenes? That’s just one of the treasures you will find during Christmas season at the Jubilee Museum, located in the old Holy Family High School building, at 57 South Grubb Street in downtown Columbus. Established by Father Kevin Lutz in 1998, today, the Jubilee Museum holds the LARGEST COLLECTION OF CATHOLIC

ARTWORK AND ARTIFACTS IN THE UNITED STATES. It’s literally located in our own backyard. Delightfully displayed in 13 well-lit rooms, you will find everything from altars and vintage vestments to statues, paintings, stained glass windows, ancient artifacts, chalices pipe organs, hundreds of relics (including the Apostles), manuscripts, books, and so much more. You should expect to have goosebumps as you walk from room to room…savoring treasures from the households of God. There is a hand-written letter from Pope Leo XIII, rosaries and artifacts of the Popes. Father Lutz continues his work…diligently preserving Catholic history. He is also pastor of St. Mary Parish in German Village. Museum hours are 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are sold to help defray building expenses. You can find the museum on Facebook.Remember, you and your family are always invited to take part in our weekly Rosary for Peace, every Saturday at 4:35 p.m., just before Mass.

JOIN US THIS EVENING FOR ADVENT MUSIC AND PRAYER – On Sunday, December 11 at 5:00 p.m., the Parish Choir of St. Francis de Sales will once again present a special service of Advent Lessons and Carols. This service is a very moving combination of the Scriptural prophecies of Christ’s coming and the beautiful carols of Advent, sung by choir and congregation. The service is sung by choirs of many denominations and finds its home in the English collegiate and cathedral tradition. If you did not attend last year, please consider making this service part of your preparation for Christmas – it can be a welcome moment of prayerful rest in the busy weeks of Advent. We look forward to seeing you on December 11 at 5:00 p.m. A reception will follow.

Knox/Licking Vocations Club will be meeting on Tuesday, December 13th at noon. We will be celebrating the holidays by going to lunch at Red Lobster in Heath. Please come join us for a social gathering and a nice lunch. Call Debby at 366-6924. Hope you can join us.

After Mass, there will be a Mexican holiday supper in Johnson Hall. Join us in honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe along with our Hispanic Community.

Christmas Mass Intentions: Please consider the following bulletin announcement: “A special Christmas gift – Have a Mass said by a missionary priest for your loved ones and friends.” The Missions Office receives numerous requests for Mass stipends from many missionary priests around the world. Mass stipends are a critical means of supporting them with their mission and pastoral needs. The benefits of a Mass celebrated by a missionary priest are far-reaching. Your loved ones will receive a lovely Christmas-themed Mass card acknowledging your gift. Visit www.missions.colsdioc.org for the Mass form under the “Request a Mass” section, and mail the form with payment to: Diocese of Columbus Missions Office, 197 E. Gay Street, Columbus, OH 43215. The Mass stipend is $10.00. Call 614-228-8603 if you have questions.

In Our NeighborhoodPantry NewsIt has been both a busy and exciting time at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. The pantry averaged over 35 families a service during the month of November. Thanks to the many contributions, the pantry gave out 190 turkeys and fixings during this month. As we continue the Advent Season and head into Christmas, we are asking each parish family to make a Christmas gift to the pantry by donating either canned fruit, soup, tuna, mac and cheese or personal items – especially toilet paper. You may also make a cash donation to the pantry by designating in the memo section of your check “St Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.” We are so grateful for the contributions we receive.

Thanks for helping to make the holiday season a blessed one for each of the families that use the pantry.

Thrift Store News Good news abounds from the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store! For the month of November, sales skyrocketed, donations remained strong and the best news – we had more and more people volunteer to help us with our efforts. To keep this momentum going, we are still looking for more volunteers, especially a person(s) who can help us advertise on Facebook. If you are interested in volunteering in the store, and/or helping us with our Facebook page, please contact Chuck Dilbone (740-877-8738) or Barb Scholten (740-258-3230). Also, keep the store in mind if you are upgrading Christmas decorations or clearing out toys to make way for new ones – we will gladly take your decorations (including artificial trees) and gently used toys. Thank you for your support!
