POSITIVE

1. Happy with the way nurses treated me there were so excellent.

2. Treated nicely by nurses and doctors in the ward. 3. Treated with courtesy from admitting section up to the

ward. 4. Nursing staff excellent. 5. Fully satisfied with ward staff always willing to help with

everything. 6. This hospital is the best in the area. 7. Consultation is very good. 8. Ward staff so passionate about their work, very good. 9. Non walking patients have no problems. 10. Good treatment and communication. 11. Staff to keep up their good performance. 12. Everything goes well. 13. Keep up the good work. NEGATIVE 1. Waited for so long for OPD Cards, to be seen by Doctors and to

get medication in dispensary (11 patient’s comment)

2. There is no respect and no good care for us being patients, doctors should not deny pension for sick patients since there are the ones with problems.

3. Could be happy if all nurses are the same and they like their

work.

4. Doctors to arrange their meetings well not to make the patients suffer.

5. Loosing of patients record caused problems cause you have to

wait for so long, waiting for duplicate card to be re – written. 11.

6. Discipline of clerical staff should be considered especially from admitting office and discharge office.

7. Doctors are scarce, takes so long to be seen by doctors.

8. At Pharmacy sometimes you do not get medication you require

and you end up going back home without treatment, and you are forced to come back the following morning of which involves money.

9. At present I have six duplication of cards, now it made me

suffer cause it is impossible for me to get pension because the doctor could not get my old notes to refer on.

10.These questionnaires should be written in Zulu so as to be

easy for us to express our feelings.

11. OPD Clerks are so slow because of system they are using of separating cards.

12. Nurses and admin staff should inform us if there is

shortage of doctors.

13. Clerical staff to be more educated in receiving and drawing of patient’s records speedily.

14. Some of nursing staff to treat us as human beings and should

be taught respect.

15. Pharmacy shelter is not properly done especially if it is raining and if it is cold it does not cater for all those conditions.

16. Staff is OK but their communication is not visible and

applicable.

18. To improve hospital diet.

19. X- Ray department waiting time is so long and clerical staff are so harsh.

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. To increase visiting hours from 18h00 to 19h30 weekdays. 2. To employ more staff especially clerks for OPD and D3/D4.

3. These questionnaires should be written in Zulu so as to be

easily to express our feelings.

4. To have waiting area with chairs in OPD outside the tuck- shop cause we wait for so long without sitting in the queue.

5. All staff members that are rude should be given written

warnings.

6. Staff members should wear nametags.

7. To improve hospital linen, especially blankets.

8. Children’s dispensary should be separated from adults.

9. Withdrawal of OPD Cards to be faster.

10. More staff should be allocated in wards as patients need physical assistance.

11. To employ more nurses especially males.

12. To improve hospital diet.
