CLIPPERS - MAVERICKS NOTES• 2009-10 SERIES HIGHLIGHTS: Oct. 31, 2009: The Mavericks defeated the Clip-pers 93-84 despite a career-high 27 points from Chris Kaman, who added 11 re-bounds to his career-high point total. It was the third straight game Kaman topped 20points, marking the first time in his seven-year career he has accomplished that feat.Kaman scored eight consecutive points in the first quarter and had 19 at the half. Hissteal at midcourt just before halftime, followed by a three-point play, got the crowd of13,626 on its feet. The Mavericks went on a 17-3 run in the third and it appeared theClippers would fade, but they rallied to tie the game midway through the fourth. JasonTerry scored on a drive, however, Erick Dampier put down an alley-oop pass and DirkNowitzki scored on a fallaway jumper to extend the lead back to seven with 30 sec-onds remaining. Nowitzki finished with 24 points and nine rebounds, Shawn Marionhad 16 points and 11 rebounds and Terry scored 16 off the bench to lead Dallas. Aless-likely contributor on the offensive end was Dampier, a 6-foot-11 center who fin-ished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Clippers received some unexpected pointsfrom reserve point guard Sebastian Telfair. He finished with 12 points, including con-secutive baskets during the Clippers' fourth-quarter run that got them back into thegame. In fact, starting point guard Baron Davis played less than a minute of the finalquarter, giving way to Telfair. Eric Gordon was the only other Clipper to score in dou-ble figures, totaling 16 points...March 23, 2010: Dirk Nowitzki was ejected. A 16-pointlead had dissolved into a four-point deficit. And that recent 13-game winning streakwas looking like something that happened a long, long time ago. But the Dallas Mav-ericks still had one thing going for them. It was Jason Kidd's 37th birthday, and hewasn't about to let the Los Angeles Clippers ruin it. Kidd scored a season-high 26points, most of it coming during a game-breaking spurt at the start of the fourth quar-ter that sent the Mavericks to a 106-96 victory over the Clippers. They came out strong, scoring 62 points in the first half and were comfortably ahead when Nowitzki com-plained about a no-call with 9:16 left in the third quarter. Nowitzki thought Clippersforward Drew Gooden shoved him in the back before grabbing an offensive rebound.Without their leading scorer -- and on a night when Nowitzki had already scored 18points in 19 minutes -- Dallas finished the quarter trailing by a point. To start the fourthquarter Kidd got things rolling by throwing an alley-oop pass to rookie RodrigueBeaubois for a go-ahead dunk that brought fans to their feet. The Mavs fed off that en-ergy to go on a 22-3 run, with Kidd doing most of the damage. He had 13 points, threeassists and a steal during that stretch. Los Angeles made only 5 of 22 shots in thefourth quarter. The Clippers lost for the 10th time in 11 games, and for the 11 straighttime on the road. Gooden, who started the season with Dallas and was traded toWashington in February, had a season highs of 26 points and 20 rebounds for Los An-geles. Chris Kaman added 22 points and nine rebounds. Rasual Butler and Eric Gor-don each scored 16 points, and Davis 11, but the Clippers got only five points from theirbench. Four reserves went a combined 2 of 10. Jason Terry scored 14 points for Dal-las, Haywood and Shawn Marion had 12 and Beaubois had 10. Kennedy also gaveKaman a technical foul in the first quarter. ...
