French cinema is well represented in this programme with Clouds of Sils Maria starring Juliette Binoche, 70s true crime thriller The Connection, and the wonderful coming-of-age drama Girlhood. We are also screening The Falling the critically acclaimed new film from Carol Morley (Dreams Of A Life), there are the American indie comedies Listen Up Philip and Results, and Queen & Country, the new film from John Boorman (Deliverance, Hope & Glory). There are also exciting film seasons - Punk On Film celebrates the legacy of the seminal punk movement that epitomises late 70’s Britain. We are delighted to finally present a season from the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. There is also a chance to see the final masterpiece from legendary filmmaker Sergio Leone, Once Upon A Time In America. Suddenly thousands of birds are preying on residents in a terrifying series of attacks. Punk On Film is a season celebrating the legacy of the seminal punk movement that epitomises late 70’s Britain. The four selected films feature many of the most prominent bands from the scene: The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, The Adverts, X-Ray Spex, The Lurkers, Wayne County & the Electric Chairs, Subway Sect, Chelsea and The Jam. We are delighted to welcome American filmmaker Wes Orshoski who will present his latest documentary The Damned: Don’t You Wish That We Were Dead. PUNK IN LONDON NC Mon 20th July @ 8.15pm 90 mins - West Germany 1977 - Documentary - Dir: Wolfgang Büld Featuring: The Clash, X-Ray Spex, and The Adverts This access-all-areas documentary really captures the punk phenomenon in all its raw power and energy. Featuring early live performances and interviews, this is a unique and powerful record of punk life as it really happened in the late seventies. DON’T YOU WISH THAT WE WERE DEAD NC Tue 21st July @ 8.15pm 110 mins - USA 2015 - Documentary - Dir: Wes Orshoski Featuring: David Vanian, Captain Sensible and Rat Scabies Shot around the globe over three years, this film charts The Damned’s complex history and infighting, as it celebrated its 35th anniversary and found its estranged former members striking out on their own anniversary tour. Filmmaker Wes Orshoski will introduce the screening and take part in a Q&A session after the film. RUDE BOY NC Wed 22nd July @ 8.15pm 133 mins - UK 1980 - Dir: Jack Hazan and David Mingay Starring: Ray Gange, Joe Strummer and Mick Jones Filmed as a fictional documentary, Rude Boy follows a punk Ray Gange as he quits his job in a West End sex shop to become a roadie for The Clash.
