Requesting a CMS Account:

Go to the following URL and complete the form, http://web.pacific.edu/x6109.xml

CMS Requirements:

The current version of our CMS software requires the use of Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox browsers.

You must also block all pop-up blockers while logging into the CMS or hold down the ‘CTRL’ key

while submitting your login form.

Logging into the CMS:

Access the following URL to login, http://cms.pacific.edu

You will use your same network Pacific login to begin. The format should look as follows:

Username: STK\usernamePassword: *********

Alternately, you may see three lines

Username: usernamePassword: *********Domain: STK

NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT YET HAVE AN ACCOUNT – YOU CAN USE A TRAINING ACCOUNT TODAY.

Author Interface:

Site Tab – this tab will show the entire site hierarchy for the University of the Pacific Stockton site. You will see the entire structure however the “bold” areas are the sections of the site in which you have been given access to modify.

Assignments Tab – this tab will show the pages that you are responsible for maintaining. Others within your workflow may assign pages to you. When the page is assigned to you, you can edit and make change as well as assign or advance the page to others.

Search Tab – this tab will allow you to search for pages sorted by rank, date and/or page type.

Edit Tab (see above) – this is the tab in which you will make changes to pages. Once you “check out” a page, this page becomes editable.

Preview Tab – this is what your page will look like when it has been published to the University of the Pacific website for the public to view.

Modifying a page:

Step 1: Locate the page you want to change

You can either enter the page number (referred to as the xid)

Step 2: Check out the page (see toolbar icon)This will unlock the edit tab formatting area

Step 3: Make changes and preview Edit your page as you would to Microsoft Word Save your work Click the preview tab to see what your page will look like if published

Right-click on your page name in the site tree and choose, “Advance”

from the menu or you can click on the “Advance” icon on the toolbar

The reviewer will preview your changes and either send back to you for additional edits or advance for publishing.

NOTE: Depending on the CMS access rights you have been assigned, you may see a publish button which means you do not need anyone to review the content prior to publish.

Creating a new page:

Step 1: Choose a name, layout and structure Choose “New” icon from the toolbar OR “right-click the parent page,

choose New-Page Give your page a name and choose a page creation rule (the template) Click, “create” Locate parent page (this is the main page in which your new page will

reside under)

Step 2: Edit, preview and save your page Change the title of the page if needed (this will be the main heading on

the page) Edit body copy (content can be pasted into this from Word or Notepad)

NOTE: HTML can be used to edit the formatting of your page, click “HTML” to edit.

Asset Management

The asset management feature will allow you to have access to upload files, images, and media to your department folders for use in your pages. You will also have the ability to create new subfolders within your directory to better organize the management of your assets as well as delete functions.

The view of the asset management dialog will support list or thumbnail view of all files and folders.

Asset Manager: Change your view

To change the view of the asset manager, click on the view button

Select either, thumbnail view to see a preview of the file or details view (as shown) to get details such as size, type and date modified.

Create a new folder

To create a new folder, “right-click” the parent folder where you want your subfolder created and choose, “new folder”. You will only be able to create folders under your department/school.

A dialog box (Create New Folder) will appear allowing you to name your new folder

Upload an image to your new folder

To upload a new image inside of a subfolder, you must first select the folder you want to upload to, on the left pane, and then click on upload

In the dialog (Upload File) will appear allowing you to browse to the location of your file on you computer.

Reminder: You should not choose the component or scale options at this time, please resize your images before uploading them to the CMS.

Deleting images & folders

To delete an image that is stored in your folder, you must first navigate and select the image, then choose the “delete” button

You will see the dialog box confirming your request, “Are you sure you want to delete the selected files?”

To delete folders, you follow the same steps as above – only choosing the folder you want to delete in the left pane. The dialog box will appear to confirm your request, “Are you sure you want to delete the selected folder?”

Media/Video Upload & Embedding

In the past, you were not able to directly upload video or other media files using the CMS or easily embed them into your pages. With the most recent upgrade of Ingeniux 6 launched in March 2009, you will be able to upload media files to your media folders within the documents folder.

Uploading and Inserting Media to your pages

In editor, click on the “Insert/edit embedded media”

Choose the type of media file you would like to upload

On the File/URL row, choose “Browse” to locate a file

Navigate to your folder, select a file, and click “OK”

You will see a preview of your file in the preview section, click on “Insert”

Your media will appear in the editor as a yellow resizable box

You can drag/drop the media to anywhere on the page. To preview, click the “Preview” tab to see a sample of your media file
