Coffs Harbour Public School
22 June 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
Cultural Ambassadors
Last week I had the pleasure of announcing our 2020 Cultural Ambassadors. I am very proud of this new
initiative in our school and look forward to the ambassadors supporting our school and student leadership
team.
Measures currently in place at Coffs Harbour Public School Myles Davis There have been well publicised developments in easing social distancing restrictions across the community. As a result NSW Public Schools have received updated face to face learning guidelines from the Department of Education. • Hand sanitiser in every classroom • Ensuring soaps are full in toilets • Teachers are regularly reminding children to use hand sanitiser, regular hand washing and coughing etiquette. • Reinforcing our infection control procedures, which are in place at all times. That is, any student or staff member who is unwell should not come to school. In the event that a student becomes unwell at school they are brought to sick bay and their parents are called to pick them up. If a staff member becomes
unwell at school they are sent home. • Enhanced cleaning in place. Constant cleaning of toilets and all high touch surfaces, before and after school, and throughout the school day. • Assemblies conducted online via Zoom or video. • Cancellation of all excursions and whole school/interschool sporting events • Separate play areas for different stage/ year groups • Restricting adult to adult contact on the school grounds. Parents dropping students off at the school gate in the morning. Curacoa Street pick up in the afternoon. • Parent/ teacher meetings being conducted remotely via phone. For the moment all these measures will remain in place. We are recommencing some activities from this week, some will recommence in Term 3, while others are still being considered.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work and we pay our respects to the Elders both past and present
SCHOOL REPORTS
Reports will be sent home on Monday 3 August. A simplified version of the report will be issued. Litera-
cy and Numeracy learning goals will be made, along with a general comment including Learning from
Home comment from parents. Reports will conclude with a comment regarding the Learning at Home
and school attendance data. Please talk to your child about their report. Be proud of the achievement
your child has made during these challenging times.
PARENT/ TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Interviews will be set for 3 August to 14 August. These will be done by by phone. We are looking at
students involved in the parent teacher interviews as well.
STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK
The most important advice I can give is that if you are sick, please stay home from school. This is the
message that has been given to all staff members as well. All adults on site will be healthy and ready
to work and we expect the same for our children and their families. If they are unwell at school you or
your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your con-
tact details are up to date. Check out the link below.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
All students should be at school unless:
They have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition They are currently unwell.
If a student is absent without medical reason for more than three days, this will be recorded as an un-
authorized absence and followed up by the school. If you need any support to get your child back to
school, please contact the school.ct Us:

Have a great fortnight. Stay safe, happy and healthy.

Congratulations to our Cultural Ambassadors who received their badges and said the leadership pledge on Thursday at our 3-6 assembly (held via zoom). We are looking forward to these ambassa-dors representing and supporting our students in a variety of situations throughout the year. Some of their duties within this role may include school tours for new enrolments, offering peer support/mentoring for younger students, interpreting messages in the classroom and making announcements at our morning assemblies to promote upcoming events. They will be representing their culture and our school with pride and displaying leadership qualities at all times.
Hooks for sale
There are still some of these lovely old hooks available for sale!
We have installed new brightly coloured bag holders outside the
classrooms and are offering for sale these old metal bag hooks. They
are available at the office for a bargain price of $10.00 for 5 hooks.
