Fall Outing
An annual event since being chartered Robins, New Echota in Calhoun, Rob-erts Centennial Farm in Ballground, the Etowah Indian Mounds in Cartersville, Marietta National Cemetery Tour by Brad Quinlan, the Funk Heritage Mu-seum at Reinhart College, Tellus Mu-seum in Cartersville and the Booth Mu-seum also in Cartersville. Join us for a memorable time and a chance to get to know your fellow compatriots and their families.
If you wish to carpool to Morrow, we will meet at the Marriott Courtyard next to our old meeting location at the Spaghetti Warehouse on Delk Rd just off I75. We plan to depart about 9AM for the 35 minute trip through Atlanta. Call Larry Guzy’s cell 678-860-4477 for coordination. This outing will be the Saturday after the next Chapter meeting so you can advise if you plan to go at that meeting, or call Larry if you are unable to make the meeting.
Join us Saturday October 20th for a 10AM tour of the National Archives. We are pleased that our tour guide is the resident expert on the documents/films held in Morrow about the Revolution. We will have about an hour tour fol-lowed by time on our own for research at the Archives, both National and next door at the Georgia Ar-chives that may prove to be the last time it is open to the public for awhile.
We have a room where we can relax and read/discuss the holdings. After we are finished, we will meet at Anne and Bill’s Restaurant 1057A Main St. Forest Park. It is about 3 miles from the Archives and on the way back home.
October marks our 12th anniversary of founding and our 11th Fall Outing. Our first was to Chattanooga’s Museum of Medal of Honor Recipients in July 2001. We have also been to the National Prisoner of War Museum in Anderson-ville, the Aviation Museum in Warner

Officers and Committees Compatriots,
Our Visibility Campaign has been very successful and we’re finding that many more in our com-munity have become familiar with the Sons of the Ameri-can Revolution. After all, isn’t this an effective way to honor our Patriot Ancestors?
In reaching out to the Cobb community, we’re presenting flag certificates and honoring our public safety officers and our public officials. As of today, we have presented twenty-seven flag certificates and thereby closing the gap to achieving our goal of thirty. With the assistance of the Director of Cobb’s Public Safety and Deputy Chief of the Cobb Fire and Emergency Services, we have also honored two additional firefighters and two para-medics during the month of Septem-ber.
When it comes to honoring our pub-lic officials, none are more deserving than Cobb’s Sheriff Neal Warren. Due to the Sheriff’s philanthropic endeavors such as using the proceeds from the well-known Corn Boilin’ event to benefit the Cobb County Youth Museum, our chapter pre-sented Sheriff Neal Warren with the Outstanding Citizenship certificate and lapel pin.
Calling Post The chapter takes advan-tage of an automated calling service to remind members of meetings and notify them of important news. If you want your name added or deleted from this list, call or email

Collins Member News & Happenings
In addition, we’re extending invita-tions to make application for mem-bership and in response; eight new members have achieved membership thus far in our chapter with several
applications waiting for approval at National. All the work involved in bringing members into our chapter is very labor intensive and I would like to extend a “Job Well Done” to our Registrar and his assistants. With-out the addition of new members, a chapter will not grow, and by not reaching out to the sur-rounding community, a
chapter will collapse. However, I am delighted to report that these two negatives are not present in the Cap-tain John Collins Chapter.
We are growing and reaching out. I am so very fortunate to be surrounded by a group of folks that understand membership in the Sons of the Ameri-can Revolution is much more than membership in a social club. We have so much more in common. Our Pa-triot Ancestors established the great-est Nation on God’s green Earth, the United States of America. God bless America.

Honoring Sheriff Warren The mission of the Sons of the American Revolu-tion is to preserve and teach the history of the founding of this great Nation and to promote patri-otism. By honoring those who serve as our first responders such as Police, Sheriff's Department, Fire, and Emergency Medical Service, we are pro-moting patriotism.
The Capt. John Collins Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented our Sheriff, Neil Warren, with the "Outstanding Citizenship" award for his work in raising money for Cobb's Youth Museum and his community involvement such as supporting the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and serving on the Cobb County Department of Family and Children Services Advisory Council.
The Sheriff was also presented the "Law En-forcement Commendation" certificate and lapel pin for his outstanding work in law enforcement. Sher-iff Warren has been employed in the Cobb County Sheriff's Department in a variety of roles since 1977, he has served law enforcement in Cobb County faithfully, starting out as a Deputy Sheriff and working his way through the ranks as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Chief Investigator, Chief Dep-uty, and eventually being elected to the highest office--Sheriff--in 2004.
Last, but not least, the Sheriff was presented a Flag Certificate for his office properly displaying the American Flag. Wayne Brown
