 Claude Giroux has 12 goals and 30 assists for 42 points, which ranks him in a tie for third in the NHL in scoring.  Giroux’s assist total istied for second in the NHL, two behind Voracek.  Giroux leads the league in faceoffs taken and faceoffs won.  He is 56.2 percent in thecircle, which ranks third among 11 players in the league who have taken 700 faceoffs or more.  He is also third in the league with 140shots, which puts him on pace for 318 shots – well above his career high of 242 set in 2011-12. The Flyers have struggled in low-scoring games this season, and in general when they have been held to fewer than four goals.  Theyare 12-1-1 when scoring four goals or more, but have gone 2-16-4 when scoring three goals or fewer.  They have dropped four gamesin regulation by 2-1 scores, all on the road, and are also without a win in five games that have gone to shootouts.  After scoring a power play goal in eight consecutive games from Nov. 29 – Dec. 18, the Flyers haven’t scored one in their last sixgames, going 0-for-15.  The Flyers are outscoring opponents 70-65 in even-strength situations this season (5-v-5 and 4-v-4). They have been outscored 32-25in overall power play situations (5-v-4, 5-v-3 and 4-v-3).  Last Sunday, Rob Zepp became the oldest goaltender to win his NHL debut since Hugh Lehman did so for Chicago in 1926 at the ageof 41.  He was the 12th-oldest goaltender to make his NHL debut, and the oldest since1972.  He is the oldest player to debut for theFlyers, surpassing Neil Little, who did so at age 30 in 2002. The Flyers have dropped 10 consecutive shootouts.  They’ve lost the first five of this year and the last five of last season.  Their lastshootout win came on Dec. 30, 2013 at VAN.  Conversely, they have won three of their four games that have ended in overtime thisseason.

Craig Berube was named the 18th head coach in Flyers history on October 7, 2013.  He posted a record of 42-27-10 in his first season as headcoach and led the Flyers to a return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  Berube, 48 (12/17/65), is in his 18th overall season with the club.  Before being promoted to head coach, he spent six season as a Flyersassistant coach, a position he had held since August 7, 2008.  Berube also served as an assistant coach for most of the 2006-07 season.
