New primary school, Derby
CHALLENGE
A new school project in Derby required a colourful surface to inspire pupils and complement the modern design of the new school building. The finished surface also needed to be hard wearing and low maintenance.
SOLUTION
Lafarge Tarmac ULTICOLOUR was recommended to help visually identify pathways and provide a colourful and durable surface for play areas. It offered a bright, colourful appearance along with shorter installation times and lower maintenance requirements than alternative coloured surfaces.
RESULT
ULTICOLOUR was used in a number of locations around the school, with a neutral buff colour for pathways and striking primary colours for play areas. As expected, despite intensive use by school pupils ULTICOLOUR has maintained its distinctive appearance and finish.
Horse Guards Parade
CHALLENGE
A hard wearing surface was required for a heavily trafficked road on the site of the prestigious Horse Guards Parade in central London. It needed to match the distinctive red colour of the surrounding roads and complement the site’s historic architecture.
SOLUTION
ULTICOLOUR was recommended as 14mm pre-coated chippings along with a deep red pigment utilised in a hot rolled asphalt mix. The product needed to be delivered and installed within a short time frame, ready for planned ceremonies.
RESULT
Sixty tonnes of ULTICOLOUR 14mm pre-coated chippings was supplied, using a distinctive, high quality red coloured aggregate sourced from our Harden Quarry in Northumberland. The finished surface has demonstrated excellent durability in this busy central London location.EXPERIENCE
